I noticed they didn't say vast quantities though, they said nuclear may be the safest source of power out there...it may be just me, but I have yet to hear of a windmill blowing up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm for nuclear power until we get proper alternatives, but I wouldn't call it the safest thing in the world.

So? this is how Fox News reports. I?m sorry but that?s some shoddy journalism right there. Nothing is accurate, or even backed up by research or proof. It?s like they?re pulling the basis for their arguments out of thin air. If we turn around and apply their way of thinking about video games to dissect the way they report, we?d get the same results - They are trying to capture an audience through fear. In fact if we apply their logic to anything we could find a way to prove that everything is driven by some sort of fear.

For instance:
Snakes and ladders ? ?If I roll a 5, I?m gonna get eaten and popped out by a snake!?
Monopoly ? ?OMG, Jail!?. ?Bankruptcy!?
Baseball ? ?WTF! Ball heading at a really fast speed toward me!! O_O!?
Peeing ? ?I better aim straight or things are gonna get messy?
Eating ? ?If I don?t eat, I will starve and DIE!!?

^You get the idea, but FoxNews clearly doesn?t.

Is there any games Fox News actually likes?

They would probably find something sinister about Pong...

Thank God we don't have anything to this extent of lunatic hate-spewing over in the UK.
That's becuase we have a publicly funded broadcasting company...It's not controlled by the owners personal political agenda.

"So, what if the lessons in these games aren't what parents want to teach their children?"

Then what the f**k is the parent doing buying their children a game they don't know about? And what parent is going to go "Conservation? F**k that noise! Timmy's gonna learn about fightin' ponies before he learns about renewable energy!"

The stupid has stopped burning years ago. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad...

Sorry, but if I was a time slot editor, I'd be ashamed.

One of their college interns comes up "Sir, this game allows for renewable energy. We can make a controversy to stir up the anti-green crowds. I got a talk show host in LA who is on a visit to get his license renewed, and he's willing to waive the screening fee for the publicity."

To quoth the words of my DINFOS instructor:

"Are you fuckin' serious?"

The accident/death/general misfortune-to-power ratio still favours nuclear power.
The relatively pitiful amount of power windmills produce makes even a single death very significant to the statistics.
And people do die on windmills.
They are quite tall.

(Should probably preface this: I am a socialist and video game enthusiast, by no stretch of the imagination am I a fan of Fox)

Most people in this thread seem to either no nothing of Fox or are jumping on the bandwagon of Fox hate, by their standards this is a pretty good debate and actually makes a few cogent points.

Whilst they are wrong in purporting the ridiculous lie that only children play video games their other points are not nearly as bad. Whatever else it might be FotW (I can?t speak for the other game mentioned as I haven?t played it) is pretty left wing (one of the opening moves is to institute UHC ffs) and while most of us are ok with this I can see their point on this one, I would be unhappy if my children?s game had an opening move of 'legalise capital punishment' as that?s just not something I believe in. Also whilst I might find FotW a pretty good game it is not a game for children who would find it boring, I think it?s alright but then I?m a strategy game veteran I have a pretty high threshold for boredom at this point a newbie would not find it nearly as enjoyable.

Also people, Fox is designed to make you mad if you really want to stop them approach them with a calm head, Fox's business model is to make everyone who watches them angry liberals who are badly represented by them and the conservatives who are made angry by what fox like to say is happening around them. Fortunately this model has a half-life; if everyone was to just stop getting angry about the things they say Fox's power would wain.

By normal standards the clip shown is mediocre to bad by Fox's standards it's good.

C'mon, it's fox news, just listen to what they say, then believe the opposite. Usually seems to be a sound strategy.

I was happy being ignorant of this, now I'm sad.

Why can't we just let a pack of rabid wolves into fox news offices and lock the doors for a few days or something? No one would miss the news team.
I would be afraid for the pack of wolves

Of course they think video games are evil scaremongers trying to push a liberal agenda on unwilling children. Look at them. One is a TV presenter, one is a radio host. All they need is a newspaper editor, a telegram operator and a town crier and they'll fill every seat with a representative from all corners of obsolete media.

"Joining us now in our video game discussion is Timothy McScrotecheese, a parent advocate for Carrier Pigeon Awareness USA."

Maybe I don't have enough experience with FOX news, or the effect they have (read: no experience at all).

But I don't see how this makes you angry.

To me it's like watching this:
enjoyable video, my jaw dropped a bit though when Paul Daniels wished he could speak african to communicate with them though... twould be ohhh soooo easy to interpret that the wrong way!

I thought Fox lost credibility (if it had any) about the time of that whole "phone-hacking" thing.

... Sorry, just had to :p

Anyway, more on topic. I'm not even surprised by this. Whenever I hear "Fox News" and "games" in the same sentence I just ignore it, because most/all of the time it's going to be BS...

Part of the reason I picked it. Easy to interpret the wrong way, but in the end it's just a bunch of monkeys and entertainers doing silly things to entertain the audience.

The guy interviewed was a radio host. The interviewer worked at FOX news. As I said, just a bunch of monkeys and entertainers doing silly things to entertain the audience.

I don't know what makes me sadder... Either this being for real (I would expect such a piece from the onion news) or Fox News actually being taken seriously by some (a lot) of people.

I like the US... I respect Americans... But seriously... Fox News is probably the worst tv channel in the world... People should stop taking Fox News seriously, and stop watching it altogether... Maybe they'd die off... But then again, Bush WAS reelected...

Anyway... I just loved how they were talking about fear tactics and brainwashing kids and horrible stuff while at the same time they were splitting the screen with some of "flower" footage...

Fox News embodies the definition of "irony".
