FPS vehicles

Am I the only one who liked driving around in the warthog in Halo? There was a poll a few years back that named the warthog in Halo (not 2 or 3) as the hardest vehicle to handle in video gaming; but I didn't find it much of a problem.

I genuinely think that the Halo series is the only FPS (that I've played) that has vehicles which are pretty good and enjoyable to commandeer. I am also aware that there are people out there that will fight me to the death over this subject, arguing that all FPS vehicles handle like crap but, honestly, get your own fucking opinion and stop copying Yahtzee's.

my question to you is, what are the best and worst handling vehicles in FPS's that you've come across?

The huge tank that had to ground itself in order to activate its orbital cannon beam thing was pretty damn awesome too.

The Warthog is a differeny way to handle a vehicle, some people may like these unique controls, and some may not. I love them.

Funny story; My little brother was playing co-op halo 3 with me, he doesnt know how to drive a Warthog so he keeps pulling the triggers for gas and stuff, you know, the norm. He kept saying he couldnt control control it because the game was currently on legendary, it was, but it doesnt affect the handling at all.

I think the best vehicles in FPS games are from HALO, I mean, the creativity and design is thru the roof. It's incredible. Close second is FarCry, for the first person perspective maintaned even when you enter a vehicle, and the ability to fire out of the windshield. I was rather dissapointed when FarCry2 lost this feature.

Isn't that the vehicle you can boost and jump out of and send it launching towards your enemies?

I loved the warthog... in the original halo! When i would run over things and was indestructible, it was so much fun! then they had to go and fuck it up for Halo 2, and i dont know why!

They did the same with the Ghost, i loved gliding over things in Halo 1, not a care in the world, then in Halo 2 if just crashes into everything. I really think the vehicles lost their sense of fun in Halo 2/3

i found them not so easy to handle as warthogs tbh.
when i saw the thread title i was instantly thinking of Halo^^
its really weird when you play it first but then you learn to nail it.

Nothing is more cool than flying a jet/helicopter in Battlefield. NOTHING!

i don't have a problem with any of them although i'm the only one of my friends i actually drive pretty good in every game except a racing game

I like vehicles in FPS games, they break things up a bit. So long as they don't do them like Half Life 2 did. First person driving doesn't work on tv's where you have no peripheral vision. Especially when the vehicle handles like a submarine.

Whatever you drove in the first GoW was just awful... It got better in the sequel but still not great.

The vehicles in Halo were definitely some of the better ones, but I still reckon the vehicles in FarCry2 are some of the best, screaming up to someone at high speed in one of the armed jeeps, braking hard, and jumping into the gun turret to mow then down gave me hours of endless fun.

The Battlefield series Vehicles are good, and the tank in Brothers in Arms Hells highway was a laugh.

I love driving Warthogs, they are so much fun! Also, Bad Company had great vehicles and driving! One of the best part of that game was the vehicles!

As other people have said, the battlefield games really have all the other ones I can think of beaten when it comes to vehicle control.

Especially gunships in 2142.

Well, then you tell me whats more fun that strapping c4 to a jeep and driving it towards a tank. Jumping out at the last minute to detonate the explosives.

The planes and choppers are a bit of a chore to drive though, so I see your point.
