Duke Nukem... Oh wait... Real Franchises!

Fallout, Halflife, Portal(basically, Portal is actually within Halflife..), Assassin's Creed(Without the DRM *wink wink*), maybe more if they could only work on my PC or if I had a gaming console...

Chrono Cross. I won't say the whole series, because Trigger honestly doesn't need defending (except from heathens, but no one cares about them), but Chrono Cross got kind of a bad rap due to all of the hype that was generated from "ZOMG CHRONO TRIGGER SEQUEL!!" Fans of the first game walked into it expecting the Holy Grail of RPGs, so when the game turned-out to be completely different from Trigger, they revolted against it. It's still a good game though, and it has a really good story.

I will defend that game with my dying breath if I have to.

Timesplitters. To say it isn´t at least one of the best shooters out there is blasphemy in my opinion.

Now if you´ll excuse me... "Time to split!"

None, a franchise, no matter how good can still end up becoming a piece of shit down the line. even franchises that rock that have ended could still be re-started by some idoit that proceeds to turn them into a mockery of themselves.
Also not being able to accept someones critique of somthing makes you come off as a bit crazy. I love the saints row games to death but if someone comes up to me and says that the stories are shallow and they promote criminal violance i'd have to agree. They may have a point but it's not gonna prevent me from enjoying them.

Now that being said if were talking about individual games then yes there are some games that are just amazing but i'll still listen to someones issues with a game before i decided if they have a point or are just being stupid

Freelancer but it isn't a series.

I used to defend Pokemon in such a manner but the current direction in monster design isn't impressing me.
it is there is a game called starlancer (google it)

i have played both freelancer is better but they are both amazing fantastic games and there should be more like them

Well as the moment I'd have to go with Bioware... I can't think of a game they made that was absolutely shit. Dragon Age and a few flaws here and there but was still an excellent game. The Mass Effect games are brilliant. KOTOR was a brilliant game which I've completed countless times and still play to this day. Then there's the Balders Gate series and Neverwinter night's which have all been good. I think there weakest game was Jade Empire and I still thought that was brilliant but flawed... Could have been much, much better with a deeper combat system but was still good.

Mass Effect. From the moment it entered my tray (lol?) until the end of time, I will love and submerge myself in all things Mass Effect (unless tainted by the iPhone/iPad/i*). I just finished playthrough 4 of ME2 and now I'm done I feel empty and dead inside.

To a lesser extent: Halo. It does a good job of spinning a yarn and enveloping you in its universe. Unfortunately it does feel a little like child's play when compared to the narrative of Mass Effect.

The Wire. Not that I need to defend it because as it might say: "My name is my NAME!"... I don't think it has too many detractors.

I tend to defend warcraft, and halo, and I defended Modern Warfare 2 when people were crying over the airport level (which I found to be the most colourful level).

Silent Hill. This has been increasingly hard for reasons that I'm sure you've all heard 8 bajillion times and have also probably heard from Yahtzee as well but I still have a fondness for the series regardless and whenever some mentions the movie or 0rigins or Homecoming I'll either go back to the previous entries or I'll use the silver linings of those games as defense and mumble the rest away. Maybe it's because there hasn't been a single other good horror franchise in video games ever. I don't really regard Resident Evil as horror and really its always come off as a comedy to me, and while I do like Resident Evil I still stand by my statement that Silent Hill is the only video game horror franchise to have ever worked as horror at all.

Oh, and Doom. To be fair Doom doesn't need to be defended seeing as its extremely important to the industry as a whole and even haters can't deny the impact it had (For better or for worse, seeing as how shitty most shooters are) but I love this game so much that my inner nerd starves to death without participating in the online Doom community which is surprisingly large and thriving and he will also starve to death if I don't feed him new .wad files to sample.

Then there's Fallout. I love classic Computer RPGs, its a shame they had to go and die when the scourge of J-RPGs showed its face. So Fallout 1 & 2 rank high up on my favourite games list because they're one of the few classic style RPGs post Final Fantasy to stand up on their own, and while I sort of want to be a No Mutant's Allowed biased dickhead to Fallout 3 and say Bethesda butchered the series, I would be a big fat hypocrite because I really liked FO3 and you bet I'm drooling over New Vegas right now, especially since some of the original devs are on board giving me hope that it might actually bring back the dark humour and make the RPG system a bit deeper than the watered down Bethesda version.

Runescape/ JaGeX.

Everyone seems to think that Runescape is for fags and nerds, but I for one don't think so.

Whenever someone says how gay RS is I just say 'fuck you' and rant about why it is awesome.

I don't really play it anymore but when I was addicted it was the second best thing to sex (the reason why I don't play it anymore Ha, Ha.)
wouldnt play it anymore but i at least think its better then WoW due to the fact theres more variation in the quests then go there kill that thing then maybe you might get the item you are looking for
