Can anyone suggest a bunch of free games(preferably not flash unless there's something particularly interesting about them like Coma's general...well just Coma in general should be played) For example my favorite (recently found) game is TF2 it's brilliant and I'm amazed it's free...people must really buy hats XD.

I recently started playing All Points Bulletin - reloaded (APB - reloaded) on http://www.gamersfirst.com/ Technically BETA, but playable. It is a kind of Cops 'n Robbers FPS for the PC with an element of customization (clothes, logos, vehicles and weapons.)

Also http://www.strongholdkingdoms.com/ is in BETA. It is a castle building massively multi player game. Not as action packed as I would have liked though.

Only free game that I really enjoyed is a flash game so sorry about that,
it's name is Epic Battle Fantasy 3 , over on newgrounds, I spend well over 12 hours of gametime on it and I still haven't beaten the final boss.
It's really worth trying out, even playing the prequels is worth it.

World of Tanks - team based armor combat game where you can unlock better vehicles to use over time. It's a bit grind-heavy, but the matches themselves are fun (particularly if you have teammates that actually work together)

Desktop Dungeons - a deceptively simple roguelike where death is a common occurrence. Games are only 15-20 minutes long though, which helps soften the blow.

Tyrian 2000 - a 2D spaceship shoot-em-up with varied levels and powerful upgrades. Available on the Good Old Games website.

Mechwarrior 4 - pilot a dizzying assortment of mechs and blow away your opponents with all sorts of awesome weapons

Ground Control - RTS game with a focus on tactical combat rather than base-building.

Dungeons of Daggorath - very old school (we're talking 1982 here) computer RPG. One of the first games to implement a first person perspective. Utilizes a unique health mechanic via a heart that beats faster as the player moves around and takes damage. Gameplay is controlled entirely by keyboard commands. An acquired taste to be sure, but it can be very fun (and surprisingly tense) experience if you take the time to learn the ropes.

I would recommend TF2, but the OP already mentioned it.

League of Legends is a free to play game based off of the popular mod for Warcraft 3 call Defense of the Ancients, or just DotA for short.

Its like an RTS, but you only get one unit, if that makes any sense
just look it up, I find it hard to generally describe

5 Days a Stranger.
7 Days a Skeptic.
Trilby's Notes
6 Days a Sacrifice.
A Battle For Westnoth.
Kerbal Space Program.
Dwarf Fortress.

That's all I can come up with for now.

Though it's short, The Stanley Parable is a free Source mod (so you just need a Source game like, oh say, TF2). You owe it to yourself to play this game. Your mind will be blown, your head will explode, your socks will be knocked off, your face will be melted. Do not read anything about the game before playing it (spoilers will pretty much ruin it for you). Again, if there is one game in this thread that you play, play that. Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this game.

Though the playerbases are pretty small at this point, Pirates Vikings and Knights II and Dystopia are also pretty fun Source mods (multiplayer obviously).

Cave Story is also an absolute must. A modern retro masterpiece.

League of Legends is a great free multiplayer game (I personally like it better than the other MOBA games like Heroes of Newerth and it certainly has a bigger playerbase, but your opinions may differ).

Also, play Passage. It's free, exceedingly short, and distressingly poignant.

Edit: I almost feel bad suggesting this, but if you ever feel like playing a truly Nintendo Hard free game, I Wanna Be the Guy. Understand that this game is an exceedingly masochistic experience.
