Nice joke. You know, when I made a show about a fake reveal of Modern Warfare 3, it actually looked like a joke and was funny.

Ahhh, the French, always with the crazy jokes that are just too intelligent for us mere mortals.

Ok... If I'm getting this straight the game being released "Digitally" because they thought would fail is the joke, not the game itself?

Because the premise of that game is damn interesting and when combined with what Ubisoft has learned about free running (By saying they have "mastered" creating it no matter the setting) makes me even more interested...

"Silly English k'niggits and your primitive humor."

I'm not sure at whom I should be angry. On one hand, we have our English sites which have mistranslated the original article (I'm guessing), but on the other, we have the French, who are guilty of being French.

WTF, guys? I'm all for making fun of the French and all, but it's really not JeuxVideo's fault. They just made a joke, so what? It'd be like, I dunno, like a dude in the US saying something ridiculous like, I dunno, "Mass Effect is a hardcore sex simulator" and everyone takes it from there without checking the source material AT ALL. Good thing such things don't happen, eh?

I thought we used to ridicule the people who fell for false stuff without verifying the source. If the guy had announced he slept with Gabe Newell and he knew that the Half Life series was cancelled, would everyone fall for it as well? He must have some mind control powers I'd really like to share.

Only if it's presented in a way that makes incomprehension likely.

Pro tip: When this many journalists get it wrong, they aren't the ones with the problem.
When this many journalists get it wrong, maybe there's a problem with videogame journalism. Nothing personal against the people here at the Escapist by the way.

Wow... How is it our fault that Ubisoft can't tell a joke?
Ubisoft didn't tell a joke. they didn't SAY anything. It was some other French comedy show which was probably making fun of the fact that no news has come from the game in forever, poking fun at Ubisoft. The world, being generally fairly poor at french, somehow got the notion that it was real news and it spread like wildfire.
