Why are people even bothered by this? He would probably be saying the exact same things if the plot of Unity was adapted into a film instead of a game. Hell, if I said the exact same things that he was saying, it would still be a stupid criticism to make imo, but people would treat it as a valid criticism and make an honest effort to refute me. It shouldn't be seen as a bad thing that a historical game gets criticized for its politics, even if it is by someone who probably doesn't play games.

Oh yeah, I remember how people argued that you can't have female assassins because of historical accuracy! Fun times when both arguments (it's fiction / it should be historical accurate) can be interchanged to push ones own agenda *hurr hurr*

But hey, it is all about ethics!
In fairness, "ethics" appears to have a new definition in "things I agree with."

So it is about ethics.

This is a real concern. This game could cause Robespierre to lose face.

He is correct. Unity is not a realistic portrayal of french revolution. during french revolution People did not suddenly fall through the ground nor did their faces suddenly melted off. they didnt randomly hung themselves from invisible walls or thier legs suddenly started working against what humanly possible.
AAAAND it's back to the floor with me, laughing my ass off again. XD

On topic: Dude, I studied the Revolution only briefly and from what little I read, Robespierre really DID seem like a monster to me.

Okay, for everybody accusing this politician of bashing the game just because Robespierre was a villain, the problem isn't so much a matter of villainizing the French Revolutionists, but HAVING THE ASSASSINS SUPPORT THE ARISTOCRATS THE REVOLUTION WAS MEANT TO STOP, THUS MAKING THE MONARCHISTS SEEM LIKE THE GOOD GUYS IN COMPARISON!!! In terms of analogy, this would be like a game where you fight against Soviet Russia by HELPING THE NAZIS. Sure, both sides are bad in their own ways, especially when Robespierre completely went off the rails during his "Reign of Terror", but this game seemed set on supporting the side almost everybody in history had declared to be the GREATER of the two evils, wanting the Assassins to support the corrupt and decadent nobles over the people whose rulers were letting starve to death in the streets. It even makes less sense considering how many times the Assassins have aided the revolutionaries in these sort of upheavals, and how the Templars have supported decadent monarchies and tyrants: the swap around isn't meant to toy with the idea of "grey and grey morality", but exists to say "okay, the Monarchists are the good guys now because the Assassins are helping them, and the Revolutionists are the bad guys because Robespierre is a Templar".

As an American, I feel so giddy to hear another country's politician sound like a complete idiot. It's comforting, in a way, to know that we all have loudmouth jackasses saying stupid crap like this. First Sweden and the sexism warning label for games, now this. It truly transcends borders.
