I'm a little worried that the dev is changing and that they're saying that it's going to be a little different gameplay-wise. Horror games are so detail oriented, just one minor thing can completely ruin the horror part. I guess I'm cautiously optimistic.

Wait, that's seriously the title for the sequel? Aww, I thought somebody was making a brilliant parody or something.

Not that I'm not excited that Amnesia is getting a sequel.

I wonder what they're going to do differently. Probably has to do with enemies. In Penumbra and Amnesia there wasn't really a lot of enemies, and those that there were mostly just patrolled around and were somewhat easy to avoid. Scary as hell, but really not difficult. Except that one time... oh god... *shivers*

Maybe they'll add a weapon to the game, or at least a defence mechanism other than "Run away and hide in dark corner"
Maybe theyll do it like the game 1916. You get a gun, but it does jack shit. You get flares, but they annoy the enemies instead of kill them. You get body parts (which you tear off of people(dont ask)), but you need to stop to grab more. You can sprint, but you can only go so far and your guy runs around like a crazy-armed-inflatable-tube-man.

Not to mention, THE ENEMIES ARE VELOCIRAPTORS WHO ARE SCARY AS, well VELOCIRAPTORS!

The gun should be powerful, but take ten minutes to reload, and have a 33% of exploding and maiming you.

Sweet, hopefully I'll have finished the Penumbra series, Amnesia and Cry of Fear by then! I'll look forward to it!

Oh great another game that no ones gonna be able to play except computer experts /sarcasm.
Computer experts? You mean it's a PC exclusive? The requirements for Amnesia were quite low, so you should be able to run this on a very dated machine, one you should have somewhere in the house these days.

Also, are you really complaining about a PC exclusive with the word "another"? Really?

As long as there's no teeth grinding sound in this game, I'll get it.

I hate that fucking sound.

Edit: Also, I feel the need to point out that they made a very good call on changing the setting to something very different.

OT:I am very happy about this, I loved Amnesia, although watching a playthrough before I played it somewhat ruiend it.
You probably know this already but you should avoid watching playthroughs entirely before playing the game first hand, they can easily ruin the gaming experience for you :(

OT: the title is interesting, it's different. I will definitely be giving this game a try.
Heh, was different for me. Watched a bit of a play-through of people usually screaming themselves and what not. The guy playing it was talking to his friend over something, and in the game he was in a larder, when one of his friends said "Hey look I found a packet of milky ways"
Then there was a monster noise right after that.
The guy SHAT himself.

So, when I played it, I had unknowingly noticed a guy would appear round there.
I put off going in there for as long as I could.

Sarcasm my boy. I did have problems starting it up(turns out my driver needed a patch) but getting help to solve it... That was a nightmare. NO ONE wanted to help me at all because I'm not computer literate(been a console man, wanted to dabble in the PC world with the mods.). I'm just hoping AMFP didn't have Amnesias problem(something about them not making it compatable with all drivers).

Sarcasm in that sentence merely indicates you're unhappy with the fact you need expert knowledge to play it. So either you're using it wrong (double sarcasm attempt perhaps? That doesn't really work) or phrasing it wrong, but in either case, updating a driver is not a matter of computer expertise, it's basic knowledge you can pick up in a few minutes like programming your TV channels on a new TV.

Also, we're living in an age where even my mom answers most of my random questions with "Google it" :p

Oh. Yes.

I was interested when Frictional said in an interview (it appeared on the Steam news for Amnesia) said that the next game wouldn't primarily be a horror. I'm glad that was wrong/they lied, because they know horror. With them producing and thechineseroom writing, I think we're in for a treat.

A horrific treat, that will scar us for life, but a treat none the less.

I didn't know it needed to be updated till someone told me it needed to. Whenever I started up the game it said "This program will not work." Googled it, took me to the Frictional site where I did EVERYTHING that was in their troubleshooting guide. My topic was ignored on frictional forums and had to go on Steam forums till I was told what was wrong.

I don't think I've ever seen a troubleshooting guide for a piece of software that had the answer to a problem I was having. Kinda makes sense, what with the fact that if they knew about the problem, it wouldn't be in a troubleshooting guide, it'd be fixed.

So yeah, gotta Google that stuff. Funnily enough, the first site to come up on a search with the solution to your problem was PirateBay :p

That said, for future reference, the first thing you do if you're having trouble with a game is making sure your drivers are up to date. You haven't specified which driver you needed to update (if it's something like graphics card drivers, that's really the very basics), though I understand if you needed to look up drivers for some other stuff, download a .dll file to sort it out or sth like that.

So... We get thechineseroom's awesome storytelling and atmosphere skills and FrictionalGames' expertise in horror games and the like. Ladies and Gentlemen, prepare your undergarments because Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will make you shit your pants like no other game has ever done.

(sure, FrictionalGames aren't direct developers but they'll be overlooking the game's development so I can assume their skills will still apply to the game)
