Do you ever think you'll meet up with any of these people?
Not me. I hate them all waaay too much to meet any of them. Wait, damn.

Anyway, I personally delete the messages saying that someone has friended me. I generally don't know any of these people. I friend people who I know from here, or people who I find interesting or friendly enough. I'm not sure why people with 10 posts keep friending me, as that's not a whole lot to know me nor the forums by. Sorry. Also, I have this thing where I'll just go through my list and delete people I realise I don't really know that well, and was not sure why I put them there. I do this on Facebook and MSN as well. Bah, I'm just jaded. I guess I like to keep my good friends close, and the rest as far as hell away from me as possible.

I befriend almost everyone that adds me, because they probably enjoyed a forum post of mine or something like that.

Except you micro2006. -Points at him-
This, but without that oddly specific last bit...
Normally, the people who friend me, I check out their profile and I'll recognize their avatar from a conversation during a thread derailing.
I wouldn't mind meeting some of these people, though.
Agreed, I mostly friend out of a forum chat when I like what they say and I friend them. I'd like to meet every single one of my forum friends!

"Eyes Max sexually".
I am filled with fear.

Man, why? I took karate, and I kicked major ass at grappling, but I think that's pretty unfair, still. To me.
Also those outfits look massively uncomfortable, among other things.

EDIT: Derp der derp. ARM wrestling.
DO NOT BROWSE THE INTERENTS WHEN YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN ASLEEP THREE HOURS AGO
I'm leaving this up here to document my dumbness.
Oh Max my dear, I wouldn't dream of looking at your naked body arm wrestling big strong manly men who rub mantits generously with each other.

What's to fear?
Everything.
Apparently.
...OH GOD THE MENTAL IMAGE IT IS WINNING GAHHH
Well. I guess I am not gay or bisexual.
keep lying to yourself max. it might work

I actually convinced one of my friends to create an Escapist account, they already came for ZP videos and I told them to create an account and check out the rest of the site.

But yeah, I'd love to meet the people on my friend's list in real life. If only to see what they'd be like in person, without the mass veil of anonimity that is the internet.

Probably not but if they wanted to meet me, that's cool. Just as long as they don't try to kill me.

I usually want a reason for being added to someone's friend list... actually I only have one, and they're pretty cool.

There is no real reason for the friends list thingy. It's like gamer score, completely useless, yet everyone wants them.

But I don't need online friends I have friends in real life like...bob here.

Unless they send me a PM or they were a part of a conversation on a thread, I don't return-friend. That's like... sympathy adds.

I always send them a PM thanking them, however, and if they are courteous enough to return the message, then I add them. Otherwise I start to think that they're just badge-whores.

I would very much like to meet a few on here.

Who's coming to mine later for a cuppa and some sandwiches?

Perfect thread for this.

This happened a while ago but why, exactly, did you "friend" me?

[Sarcasm] Is it that one of my posts made you giggle? Is that it? Figured you'd just "friend" me so you'd have a source of amusement? "Oh hey, that I III II X4 guy's kinda funny, let's see if he'll say anything else silly." Yeah, well I ain't no takin' doll with a string for you to yank on, wanna know why? Cause that damn strings been pulled on one too many times![/Sarcasm]

Anyway, I don't feel right about the badges I got from our encounter...there was no reward, I felt empty, like it was a one-night stand...

*Throws the badges into the wind*

I'm a friend-whore!! *Runs out of the room*

As for the OP, no I doubt I ever will.

I'm a naturally suspicious (paranoid) person, and it has been getting worse as I grow older, so it isn't likely I'll ever meet anyone.

That, and I've had "rocky" (Adriaaann!!) friendships, which either end abruptly, or die slowly.

hmm, I basically form opinions of peoples age and demeanor based on what they say around here, how complex it is and how they present it. I'd probably be surprised by many of my fellow Escapists if I met them in real life so I'd probably not want to. Just so my mind doesn't have to change it's view.

I only friend people if they friend me first.
I also wouldn't mind meeting a few people from this site either.

I might go and meet my few British Escapist friends sometime... When I'm assured they're not crazy people. >_>

The only way I'd be able to meet my Australian friends is if I won the lottery...

I always accept friend requests - except the ones from Badge Whores - since all the ones who added me tend to think I'm cool. It's a nice little stroke to my ego.

I don't know why people choose to friend me, I rarely accept unless they've directly told me they wish to be my friend for the way I've presented myself on the forums. Or if they have an awesome avatar.
Haha, I friended you on impulse after we had exchanged about three words. Must have had a good avatar!

If someone friends me randomly, I do a quick browse of their recent posts and friend them back if I like how they write. So far that's nobody. The people who friend users randomly always seem to be the ones who spam one-sentence posts with no punctuation.

Yeah, I have physically touched one of the other members on this forum.

...

......

Um, anyway. I think there are a couple of other people who support the same football team as me. Maybe I'll try and organise a going together next time I'm able to go. But for the mean time I live hundreds of miles away so no luck.

I usually befriend people who either, A) I get into a good discussion with or who have similar interests or B) who have very amusing or clever posts.

That little strategy seems to have served me well so far, I'll have to see how it holds up as the months roll by.

Since I'm apparently much less of a prick in r/l than I come across on the forums (had that pointed out to me at a meet of another forum I used to frequent), so I'd say there's a good chance I could actually be friends with people who've added me to their lists here.

That said, my "life", such is it is, mostly revolves around work these days (yeah, adulthood sucks, so for those of you who haven't had to move into the grown up world, enjoy it while it lasts), so it'd be unlikely I'd ever have time to meet them. Shame really, there are some fascinating people on this forum that I'm sure would be great to have an actual conversation with.

Still, I did run into someone wearing a split reason t-shirt at work a while ago, who was an ex-poster on the forums, and we did exchange numbers. She still calls me from time to time, mostly when she needs advice on the cat she adopted, but we do have some good chats.

If me and some other person on here win an all expenses paid trip to E3 with the Escapist, then yes, otherwise, most likely not.
