I'd definitely like to meet most of the people on here. Doubt I ever will though.

And yeah, it doesn't take much for me to friend someone - if I'm especially entertained or enlightened by a particular post then I'll usually befriend the author of said post. And I'll admit, the badges are a nice bonus :D

I friend everyone who friends me first.
Unless I have a very good reason not to.

I don't think I've friended anyone first. Isn't that weird of me.

And I'm sure that there's some people I'd like to meet in real life.
But we all live thousands of miles apart.

And when did MaxTheReaper get so many posts?

I dunno, I add people who say clever or funny things, and I get added by people for various reasons, its not like a real friendship

I'd be up for it, why not? I just do not have many friends on the escapist. :p

Actually met my best friend on a forum and another good friend on the same forum (both not this one) and would like to meet both one day.

Yeah would be good to hook up with some peeps on here at some point. I like the people I have added and would in time like to get to know them better. I tend to add people due to a common intrest, opinion they share with myself. Have recently been talking to a couple of folk and would definatly meet up circumstances permitting.

EDIT: LOL badge whores, nothing personal but I just don't get it...or do I?

I really don't accept friend requests unless I see a reason why they would befriend me (E.G. Having sent an PM helps, having had a larger forum discussion with me helps Etc, etc)

If there is anyone on here I'd like to meet in real life?
MaxtheReaper, I guess. He is the one I recognize the most. At every thread I read I'm thinking "Where's MaxtheReapers comment? Oh, there it is"
And he also seems like a sensible person. I would not put everyone on forums in that catagory.

As for the OP, no I doubt I ever will.

I'm a naturally suspicious (paranoid) person, and it has been getting worse as I grow older, so it isn't likely I'll ever meet anyone.

That, and I've had "rocky" (Adriaaann!!) friendships, which either end abruptly, or die slowly.
This. I've met some great people while I was playing WoW though, regularly check up on them via an old friend of mine who got me into WoW (and still plays it...60 hours a week...). But I don't miss them on a daily basis or something. The same for real life though, I guess that's why I don't have any real friends, well maybe 1 (a female co-worker whom I've grown to trust, she helps me with a lot of problems, and I help her, and we fool around at work ofcourse), but everyone else is more of a 'friendly acquaintance' rather then a real friend. No wonder I'm lonely, that and the lack of a soulmate. *sighs* Think it's because I was heavely betrayed by the people who I thought were my best friends when I was a little kid, well...apperantly they weren't. After the incident in question I ended up being completely alone, no one beleived what happened or took it seriously enough, so I ended up taking care of myself. Lost my trust in people back then, think that's why I barely made real friends after that.

As for forum friend requests, I don't hold a lot of meaning to them.

There are some people that I haven't added as friends, but I'd like to meet in person to find out who it was that taught them grammar. But other than that, most of the friends I have on the Escapist are already friends of mine. They told me to join and now I'm on more than they are...Or so I think I am. o_O

I have no problem with accepting friend requests from random escapists, but people add me and never message me.

WHY? I hope it isn't so people can have a high friend count and get those stupid badges....

I read more than I post so I don't have too many friends. I've always been free with some of my personal information (for example, I typically use my real name as my handle, at least my first name) but am more cautious about actual meetups. The kind of cameraderie you see on a forum, or even in a game, doesn't always translate to real life.

Having planned conventions, the ultimate in geek meetups, I know this to be more true than not.
