I'll still support them here. Outside of Ninja Blade, this is their first in-house port that people actually wanted. I'll be damned if I don't do my part to help show that poll wasn't a joke.

Yes, the port may not be as spectacular as we'd hoped, but the important thing is that they're taking a look at PC development in the first place. We as PC gamers need to pick and choose our battles here. We got a huge win when Namco greenlit the project, now we needto see it done and support it. Anyone who expected FS to have a masterfully done port on their first try was delusional. They lacked experience, time, and money to do anything meaningful. (Time and money is more of an issue on Namco's side.)

From Software has a lot of talent, and I'd like to see some of that talent on the PC. Bashing Dark Souls because it isn't "better" is counter to that goal.

Oh, this is going to be fun.

First, people complain and whine until it gets released on PC.

Then, people complain and whine because it's buggy, because From Software are console devs, not PC devs.

Dear PC gamers,

Stop being so entitled.

You're not the master race.

Get over yourselves.

Regards,

Everyone.

Can't wait to see elitists complain about it being "Over hyped" and "not a real RPG".

What's even better is that it's a DIRECT PORT of the console version, so there is going to be a lot of complaining about it being "streamlined" and all that nonsense.

Anyway, if anyone needs me, I'll be in the bunker waiting for the shit-storm. Call me when it's release day.

I'm not getting a super negative vibe here.

This sucks monkey balls, but at least they're being upfront about it

Dear Poster,

You seem to be generalizing here. Please consider the whole of the community, not just the loudmouths.

While it does suck, I'll still be getting it because, as FROM admitted, they're new to this stuff.

They're a Japanese developer that has never developed for PC before. I doubt that, should they make a PC version for their next Souls game, there will be nearly as many issues as this time around.

We'll have to see, eh? Besides, if it's anything like Skyrim, mods will fix most of the issues pretty quickly.
I'm not sure how easy it'll be to mod a game that uses GFWL, honestly it sounds like something GFWL would have a hissy fit over. Still, perhaps I'll purchase the game, download a cracked version and install any optimisations people have made.

PC Gamers: "We're tired of getting the shitty ports. But let's ***** at developers to get them anyway."
Developers: "Okay, here comes game that you all wanted. Due to us being a mainly console creator we have little experience in porting for PC. There may be some bugs."
PC Gamers: "Fuck you, you suck. We're tired of getting the shitty version."

Did you guys want the game or not? When consoles get a port of a PC game we always get the dumbed down shitty version too. STFU please.
That's a nice strawman you got there. I for one will still be buying the game for my precious PC despite the fact I'll likely get my arse handed to me by Games For Windows Live and the quite possibly shitty performance.

Hard time finishing Dark Souls? Welcome to the club!
Hahahaha ^^

Very nice.

OT: Huh. Well, after simply being beat by Demons Souls...I just cant muster up a lot of care. There is simply not enough time in the day for dying that much.

At least they're honest about it. Anyone else would tell you how PC version will be the uber version running at 100 fps with super high res textures and all the other goodies. Of course that is almost always a fuckin' lie. I'm still gonna get this.

My handle and avatar compel me to have a say on this thread. I have a computer that should handle this game reasonably (Dual Core AMD, 8800 GTX) and will be picking it up day one. Either way, I'm one of those weird people who would probably buy it day one anyway just to support From and more games like DS existing in the future if my computer would only allow it to take the screenshots being rendered. I have a feeling it won't be long before modders and the like have tools, mods, programs, and INI tweaks that pick up a lot of the slack From might be unable to. "Oldblivion" to make Oblivion run well on pretty ancient hardware comes to mind.

I feel I need to make something clear, I love Demon's/Dark souls so damn much that I liquidated a MAJOR percentage of my collection due to the bar being suddenly raised absurdly high thanks to that pair. I looked over many of the games I owned and realized I would get more immersion, fun, and satisfaction from another NG+ or making my own challenges (daggers only, no enchantments, etc.) then replaying many of the games I saw.

If some of you folks only play on the PC and haven't gotten to play this game, you owe it to yourself to try if you have any love for old school RPGs, dungeon crawling, or a truly realistic take on swordplay or how some of these battles would physically take place.

From does have a very minor history working on the PC, but the landscape was FAR different back then and many of those same people might not be with From anyway. They worked on a mainly PS1 series called King's Field (supposedly the spiritual predecessor to Demon's and another set of damn fine games if you have the patience), and released a "version" in Japan only for the PC that gave you the tools to essentially make your own King's Field game. Someone made an English patch for it if you happen to have an even deeper esoteric love and level of patience/artistic ability than I.

Side note: I don't think anyone appreciates a user/users of a certain platform being talked to/about like they're part of some hivemind monolithic entity. I game mainly on the PC, and I've never once called someone who didn't "retarded" or "technologically inept" or claimed to have some superiority over them. Generalizations aren't fun, and make real discussion difficult. Sorry in advance about the giant wall of text.

I really hope this game does well, I never signed any petitions because I were happy playing it on console. Now I just hope that PC gamers put will their money were their mouths have been all this time.

I hope the port does sell well, otherwise the devs will have wasted time and money trying to please their consumers... and that would likely mean that they'd just ignore what their fans want in the future.

It's also commendnable that they are admitting the flaws, and wise that they're actually giving the port free dlc/content to make up for said flaws.

So long as they ask a reasonable price for it I think it will still sell, gonna be a tough one if they price it at 50 euro though...

Well, decades of being an almost entirely Console-Only company are biting someone at last.
Didn't think it'd be from the people who gave me my beloved Armored Core series, or Metal Wolf Chaos though. Tis a strange world...

Definitely contract someone to help you with that From Software; I know it's more money on a project that you were iffy about to begin with, but I think you have one of the only legitimately difficult series on the market right now, and there's quite a market waiting to more than cover the difference in going to PC.

Dear Genius

That generalization exists for a reason. PC Gamers, scratch that, gamers in general have a reputation for being the single most obnoxious and tantrum throwing fanbase in history. Throwing the "Not everyone does it" excuse does not excuse the deplorable actions of those that do. If you have an issue with the loudmouths, perhaps you should do something about them, rather than insisting that other people ignore their grief with them simply because "not everyone is doing it."

We see enough of that apathy from Christians, Star Wars fans, Bronies and just about every other organization on the planet.

Dear sane person

Please tell us how to do something about douchebags/assholes/People who ruin things for the rest.
It's not as easy as you say it is and if we could do anything about them we would.

Im expectin the price to be where you can get a new copy of dark souls now, so about 30 bucks. Sellin it for more wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Cudos to them for admitting this up front, a lot of companies wouldn't of said shit all about it.

Plus since people seem to forget with PC games you can adjust the graphics settings and scale everything the heck down. Is it a ideal solution? Nope . But it is a work around that works with a lot of shitty ports.
