I recently bought Super Mario 64 DS (don't ask why I'm late to the party), after playing through it I reflected on how much genuine fun I got from it.

There are underrated games, overrated games, hated games, revered games; but what are the games you play just to have some unadulterated fun?

Some obscure awesome games for the DS since you apparently have one:
Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
Infinite Space.
Lunar Knights.
That ought to tide you over.

CoD 4, and Halo are my two biggest. The things you can do with them (screwing around and making your own rules online in CoD and custom games in Halo) are just so fun when you play them with friends.

Use to be Postal 2, but I gave it away cause I won't play it in front of my son.

Now it'd probably either be some Guitar Hero or if I'm not in the mood for music, Diablo 2.

Mario Kart drinking game.

1: Multiplayer Mario Kart
2: 1 Drink per position number (1 drink for 1st, 11 for 11th, etc.)
3: Profit

I realise this could work with any racing game, and maybe even with any competitive game at all, but MK's my poison.

And regular Mario Kart's cool too.

I miss fun games...

They all disappeared into a vortex of nostalgia.
c'mon! cheer up!

here are some other ones of mine:

Super Mario Galaxy 1,2
Pretty much every Ratchet and Clank game after the first
Kirby's Epic Yarn
The Devil May Cry games, NOT including the second.

Stacking. I had a lot of fun with that one. Saint's Row 1 and 2 were also really fun: I had a bit too much fun with those two really >.> They made me giggle like a moron ^^;

If I don't have anything else to do then I'll always try and create mini-missions and battles in the scenario editor of Arma 2. Today I had a platoon of US soldiers get pinned down on all sides by insurgents outside Zargabad, and spawned myself in as a medic, trying to keep my squad members from getting too shot up as well as trying to repel the attack at the same time.

In the end we progressed into the city where I was shot after not checking a corner thoroughly enough.

Yh, the galaxies are alright, though I'm not dedicated enoguh to finish them.
I should probably play some Ratchet and Clank games.
I got DMC4 with my 360, and I liked it, recently got the first one and completed DMC4 on Devil Hunter mode and started Son of Sparda yesterday Previously got stuck on the last boss on my second playthrough. But DMC1 raped me on the first boss on normal mode. Had to deliberately get a D one the first misison to get Easy Auto, then the game seemed to go too quickly. No matter how much I love the idea of style and combos in DMC I still find it impossible to create variety for myself in those games. Although the massive amounts of weapons in the first game was a nice way to do things.
I feel Dante's stylishness was easier to pull off in MvC3 than in the actual series, and yet MvC3 is still an annoying game, because of it's massive difficulty for me.

I have lots of nostalgia about games that often don't live up, mainly because I remember them too well so the thought of playing them brings up the idea that I rememeber everything that happens.
