Except it's not right wingers arguing the book must be in a school library. It's a stupid fight to take because really in the present climate and it's only a fight because of blind tribalism occurring such that "We can't let the right wingers win or else [slippery slope fallacy]"

And to respond to that she quit. The Teacher quit. She wasn't suspended. She quit and threw out a line about being unable and unwilling to work under such restrictions as not being able to let the kids have unsupervised access to said work and others.
Also none of the sources state the age of her class only that she was from a K-12 school which is 4-18.

Considering Gingers represent like 2% of the World population, it's significantly more likely that a mermaid would be Black then GInger, statistically speaking. Then again, Mermaids aren't real so they can look like anything people want them to look like. But having them look like Dr. Zoidberg from futurama apparently isn't as cool as having them be a white girl with a fish tail despite probably being a lot more realistic for something that lives in the ocean.
I'm pretty sure most of those complaining about Black Ariel didn't give a shit about the little mermaid until they found out about the casting, which instantly makes me suspect their motives for doing so.

And I'm pretty sure if I direct kids to where you can download and read the Anarchists cookbook I'd be suspended from teaching too. Sorry the book was deemed inappropriate dems the rules and you have to teach following them.

Before her was Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Maid Marian, Elionway, Ariel and Belle. Then in 1997 there was Esmeralda from Hunchback and Mulan followed in 1998.
