I am actually familiar with that part, though I thought it was only rumors and here say at the time. If Swift is really smart, then she would drop those assholes. She wouldn't lose much and she knows it. Linkin Park never wanted to associate with neo-nazis, and told them to screw off. She can do the same.Cynically, one could say she only started this once a number of her fans started wondering why she was keeping quiet (which was a deliberate decision, she didn't want to alienate rightwingers), when lots of others in her position were not. She even had a big neo-nazi following she neglected to denounce. It's also been pointed out that in the past she had been quick to bring up feminism when she was being unfairly criticised for her lifestyle or relationship, but otherwise didn't tend to bring it up. But it started a bit after Trump got elected. She started being vocally progressive, but got a lot of acclaim for fairly minor stuff.
Spoken like a true biatch-in-a-boxstand. She's hiding behind feminism, and doesn't believe in her causes. If it wasn't such a big deal, she would have just been out honest from the get-go instead of being defensive. If I remember correctly, this was around the me too movement, and unfortunately you had false feminist and one of those abusing their position or taking advantage of actual victims. It's also been pointed out that in the past she had been quick to bring up feminism when she was being unfairly criticised for her lifestyle or relationship, but otherwise didn't tend to bring it up.
I'll keep an eye on her, if she tries anything else suspicious. Now, I'm not privy to her innermost thoughts and feelings, maybe she wanted to keep her mouth shut and get on with her job and nobody's perfect. But it's also quite plausible that she decided that becoming (somewhat) political would be good for her career, that it's tokenism. No idea.
