I think Trump could be taken down in public estimation, but it would take a huge and cohesive effort by the US right to do so: Congress, media, and more. They've already demonstrated that they won't.

He would need to do something properly and obviously serious to shake their trust, like oversee a recession. For instance, he's tanked the US economy Q1 2025 with stupid tariffs, but it will very likely recover to modest overall growth for the year, and that would be excused or forgotten.

I'll only give a partial blame to Peterson on this one. Jubilee obfuscated what this debate was about which made two groups of people talk at cross purposes and this is clearly not Peterson's fault. We all know the world is a complicated place, and it would be nice if everything ran to very simple, clear rules, but virtually nothing does. And whenever we try to run to very simple, clear rules, injustice and atrocity abounds.

For instance, in this case, we know that some races, cultures, etc. have been marginalised or patronised in media in ways that are potentially offensive or belittling, and they have far less ability to speak up for themselves. If they are to be offered a degree of protection, maybe there's no harm in that. And thus we might want to handle Yoruba religious myths with a degree of consideration where we don't offer the same to a children's story with no sensitive cultural attachments. Just to be clear here, the inane barking of anti-woke warriors are based on bogus sensitivies: these people have no love, attachment or interest in the source material they are fighting for.

I do not think it would be the same response, and nor do I think it would be a good idea. But the reason has nothing to do with canonical accuracy. Western-European stories have had an enormous amount of cultural exposure and plenty of awareness. Yoruba stories have not.
