They should hold a Nuclear Family Parade, with floats like "Dad drinking beers watching tv while mom does the dishes", "Mom watching her dreams vaporize as she stares at a positive pregnancy test" and my personal favorite "Mom crying nursing a shiner after dad hit the sauce too much"

Why bother? Be true to yourself.

The randomized trials (Cochrane review both before and after covid) say masking does very little to nothing at all (especially cloth masks). I can see the mask delaying the spread (holding back the spread) for maybe 5-15mins but being in the same room with family, friends, coworkers for a prolonged period
When was masking advised for just staying at home with family? Anyway, this is why intensive air filtering is advised in places like offices and other places, or indeed avoiding that mess altogether and working from home (which was also decried as some draconian measure by executives that hated the idea of workers feeling entitled to safety or distance from oversight or not making use of the dismal cubicle space they paid rent to an office park landlord to use).

Similar legislation around the world

Regulate everything except the corpos causing the problem.
And god help you if you disagree with this legislation, or someone will call you a supporter of paedophiles.

Which is really annoying, because this sort of legislation is some of the shittiest legislation ever invented for the digital era. There are a whole basket of these sorts of laws, and they are basically a licence to hand $$$ to big tech, and to completely fuck your privacy rights and digital security.

Mandatory age verification has the function of making services that respect privacy illegal, and that means that corporations that don't respect privacy will not have to compete with even the theoretical possibility of services that do respect privacy. It's like mandating safety equipment in sports, except evil.

No, you just said that face coverings do nothing whatsoever.
That's what the gold standard in medicine, Cochrane, says and always has said.

What do you think a mask *DOES*?
Works against droplet-based diseases, covid and common colds are airborne.

You do realize before people made masking political, these were the type of discussions and articles written about masking. There were hardly any good studies done during covid so the science literally couldn't have progressed much beyond say this article.

I'm just saying the places masking was enforced didn't do anything. Masking would be possibly effective in rare instances. How often are you with people for say like 30 minutes at a time? You're either with people for very short periods like a store (which you're not going to catch anything regardless of mask or not) or very long periods (which you will catch something regardless of mask or not) like home, work, school, friend hangouts, etc. That middle area of being with people where a mask might actually help aren't at all commonplace. To act like masking was going to make any significant impact on covid spread was completely illogical.

How are they going to enforce that for the multitude of forks that exist for Linux?
Maybe just deliberately cripple Linux so hardly anyone uses it. Seriously.

Whilst I'm sure there may be some genuine belief in child protection somewhere, I would not be at all surprised if ulterior motives were more important.

For big tech, verification systems form ways for them to capture revenue. Verification systems create a barrier which require systems and processes to pass, and someone has to be paid for those processes and systems. That will inevitably be dominated by the major players with resources and economies of scale, and impede organisations without. Secondly, some verification systems will create a way to collect information: you will have to announce yourself wherever you go on the net to gain entry, which makes you much easier to track and collect info on for corporations and government agencies.

They probably would be looking at this and rubbing their hands with glee.

Nonsense, they excel in the qualities that matter to the admin
I've no idea about hiring for ICE, but I know about student recruitment to universities, and one of the most reliable ways to increase admissions is to drop the entry requirements.
