I don't believe ghosts exist. I think that any 'sightings' are created by the human mind, since it likes to imagine that things look like things that they aren't. I'm slightly put out by the number of people who are absolutely convinced that they have lived in a haunted house, however. Someone I knew who was totally rational in every other respect was completely sure that his first house was haunted, and claimed to be able to tell when a ghost was in the room.

I think I once heard something about notoriously haunted houses having large quantities of a certain chemical in the air, which could affect the brain's interpretation of reality. I don't know enough about it to make any serious point with it, though.

I've seen a ghost. I've got a picture to prove it too.
Take out the '=' at the front of that URL (like I did) and you have your picture.

I don't believe in Ghosts and stuff, but once me and my Mum were talking along the river in Nantwich when I was about 7, and this man appeared out of nowhere. I'd been looking behind us for the whole journey, and turned once. When I turned back, he was there. I kept my eye on him, he had a really ominous look on his face, and he followed us for about half an hour, he looked like he was brandishing something. We came to this shadowy bridge and walked under it. I turned forward and looked back again.

He'd vanished. There was nowhere for him to turn, he'd already walked under the bridge, and if he'd have dived in, I'd have seen and heard the splash.

Weirdest experience I've ever had.

I've seen a flying pillow, and I have heard (along with other people who also have heard it) bagpipe music coming from an empty room.

they say that earth bound spirits of the dead can't cross water, or they draw energy from it. From what I heard.

Sir, you have no idea the terror you have inflicted on me with that thought.
I know, that was totally my plan.
Like, all the time.

And not because even now I can't, for some reason, get the image that it's spelled with a "W" out of my head.
On a totally unreleated note, I think it's time for me to go to sleep.

Ever seen a ghost? or at the very least heard a good ghost story? Granted its not Hallowe'en, but lets hear what you've got to say.

I admit I have one myself. There's a Wheatherspoons-chain pub in the town, one of my friends says how he's seen a shape in the men's toilets, what looks like a dark shape ducking into the first cubical just as you enter. The door didn't close however, and as he walked past the cubical was empty. Now this is true, I don't lie...often...but I went down to toilets shortly after, forgetting about the toilet ghost, and sure enough just as I entered, in the corner of my eye a dark shape, similar to the hunch of a man's shoulders and back, quickly ducking into the first cubical. Similarly, as I approached and glanced as I passed, the cubical was empty. Spooky shit. Got a better one?
Ghosts most likely exist: There's scientific evidence of that. It's a shame you weren't carrying a thermal camera around when you had that bathroom experience. They are most likely masses of heat and energy that manifest some shadowy version of who they used to be. As for me, I've definitely seen a ghost.
It was a dark night (Where else do ghost stories happen?) and I was waiting for the subway after going home from a bar. (I wasn't drunk) I was the only one on the platform as it was late and I had just missed a train. I saw something on the edge of my periphery, but when I looked it was gone. Just then, I felt something running through my hair. I assumed it was a bug and tried to swat at it. I squirmed a bit, and turned around to see a woman. She wasn't all white, or see-through or anything, just standing there, running her fingers through my hair. I was a little bit freaked out, and stammered to ask if she could let go of my hair. She frowned and stared at me, just staring, retracted her hand. She looked away, then walked towards the subway tracks. She calmly stepped off into the track area, then layed down on the tracks. I Started shouting at her to get off, but she just layed there on the tracks. She was like that for about ten minutes, with me trying to get her off, when the subway came. It sweeped over her, no blood, no crack, nothing like that, just an eerie shreek that I will never forget. This may not be very scary or satisfying, but it's true, and that's what matters.

I was sleeping in my sleeping bag when i heared a weird noise and i yeld:Shut the fuck up!
And suddenly i feel how my sleeping bag got pulled away very fast and strong.

I soiled my pants.

You went down to the toilets and had a spooky shit? Sorry, awful joke, couldn't help myself.

Whenever I'm the only person in my house, I'll often hear the sound of someone playing a recorder, despite there being 1)no-one to play it, and 2) no recorder. It always seems to be coming from the same room, and stops as soon as I open the door. Other people have heard it too, but never when more than one person is in the building.

I've seen what I think to be ghosts maybe once or twice, but can't recall them from memory.
Rhoald Dahl compiled a book of pretty nice ghost stories. Worth checking out.

I mean I want to but I've never had an experience. So I won't really believe in ghosts til I have an experience. If I even do. Ghost hunting shows on tv are crap. Like that one Paranormal State. BRAHAHAHA so staged.

Never actually seen one myself, although I have several stories from friends who have seen them. I do believe in them though. My one sort of experience (even if some people don't count it as that) was the night my granddad died. I dreamt that I was standing in his kitchen and looking out the window, where his ghost was standing on the pavement outside. He then moved down the pathway to the house, through the door and came and stood in the kitchen with me and my mum. When I told mum the next day she said it was his way of telling me that he's alright. I like to believe that's true.

I kept seeing the shadow person phenomenon until I recently closed the windows so the neighbor didn't turn on the mvement lights every time he walked by.

I was in a supposedly haunted house at night and some of the dudes decided to take some pictures and there were strange bright orbs or cirles on the pictures. Whether or not that confirms thing i don't know. I would like if they do because I think we need more mystery and paranormal/supernatural stuff these days.

Look to your left; there's nothing there obviously. Look to your right; again, nothing there. Look behind the computer screen; nothing.

Now look behind you. Nothing there silly.

Under the desk? Still nothing.

When I lived on my own, I was woken up by someone shaking me violently. Though since sensations like falling or drowning can carry over from your dreams when you wake up, I'm not sure I didn't just imagine it.

Pretty creepy, at any rate.

The same appartment also had that sort of annoying presence, where you feel like someone's watching you - though that may just be my paranoia speaking.

---

Then there's always my grandma's house, which has a smell of recently cooked food that comes and goes in the middle of the night, as well as a sensation of being watched (though in a pleasant way).

There was also a wall that appeared to be snoring, but it turned out to be because of the pipes. Though, it was more fun when it was a snoring wall and not faulty plumbing.

---

I wouldn't neccessarily say I believe in ghosts, though, but I certainly believe there are some things we just can't explain. Maybe it's ghosts, or maybe it's just the ghosts that live in my head.
