G-Gundam. WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS?

So Gundam. Lots of giant robots fighting in outer space and big laser swords. For some reason I never watched any of the series, and I've only known about them in passing.

So why now? Because having heard about G-Gundam's premise, I got intrigued.

Oh my god this is the funniest thing I've ever seen.

It's a windmill. The Gundam from the Netherlands is a fucking windmill.

canada Gundam is a lumberjack.

Spanish Gundam is a Matador Bull.

I haven't even seen an episode of this, but the premise and the artwork seems so batshit insane that I'm laughing my ass off even without context. To any of you who have actually seen this series, would you recommend it for a laugh? Because this looks like a riot.

I haven't seen it since its original (American) run on Toonami, but it's best described as "Dragonball Z with Gundams." It looks like someone uploaded the whole thing to youtube, so you've got nothing to lose by checking it out if that sounds interesting to you.

By the way, it's /very/ different from most Gundam series. Your average Gundam series is basically military sci-fi with giant robots instead of tanks and aerospace fighters. G-Gundam, like I said, is pretty much a Dragonball Z clone.

Except DBZ didn't have a lumberjack robot driven by Big Joe Mufferaw

I honestly don't remember the lumberjack robot, or the windmill one. I don't think they were piloted by major characters. I remember the French, American, English, and Japanese ones being pretty important, though.

I forget where the lumberjack bot was, but he was probable in the finally with all the others helping in the final battle. The windmill one was somewhere in the tournament in the backround, but yeah both were not important in the storyline but are still awesome.

I wonder what the American looks like.
It's a football player robot that turns into a boxer robot when it goes into its "hyper mode."

OP: You shouldn't watch it for funniness.

You should watch it for its sheer manly balls, its uninhibited hotbloodedness, its unbridled force of GAR.

Mobile Fighter G Gundamn was Gurren Lagann before Gurren Lagann was Gurren Lagann. It deserves your undivided attention and respect.

the windmill one is only used in the background and is owned by Neo Holland.
The Lumberjack one was featured in a episode as more of a opponent-of-the-week.
OT
allot of gundam fans hate it for being more super robot oriented. I personally love it for being over the top and having the best Gundam dub I have ever heard.

The ring announcer is so VERY annoying, chineese Gundam is a dragon, the french is a freaking gentleman swordsman whose main attack is ROSE BITS. For some reason the german gundam is a ninja, the russian gundam is just a big slow brute with a giant ball n chain, the american is a football player/boxer. Oh and the japaneese gundam? His attack is called: SHINNING FINGERRRRR!!!!!!! It's a really messed up series with some sort of giant dark gundam as a bad boss at the end. And the main 5 gundams and their pilots, when they go into hypermode they turn GOLD, like a SUPER SAYIN

That reminds me. OP, when you watch this, and you will (or I'll find you), watch the dub. "Narm Charm" doesn't even scratch the surface.

Gundam 00 is...slightly...different...from this...

Just need to say that because 00 is the only Gundam I've seen.

Oh, fuck me.

Britain is a Beefeater-Bot.
I can live with that and makes me more inclined to give it a watch, so long as beefeatertron is the best at whatever counts as winning in this series.

Well apart from the funny stereotype Gundams, it'll probably interest you differently to other Gundam series since it's a super robot series instead of real robot, in an attempt to get in on the DBZ craze.
It's quite amusing and over the top, but I don't think it's ever quite played for laughs.

Gundam 00 is my favourite Gundam series.

I thought most everyone knew this?
G-Gundam was on Toonami after all.(For a while at least)

Anyway, it's easily my favorite Gundam series. Plenty of action and "This hand of mine is burning red. It's loud roar tells me to grasp victory!"

So what about Korean Gundam?

The American Gundam is a football player on a surfboard that transforms into a boxer. I wish i was making that up.

Also, this happens:

(that's not the real statue of liberty though, that gets blown up much earlier in the series)

This is what you're missing.
Did they just jump-kick a building AWAY FROM A FLOOD?
I am sorry, but in a world where people can JUMP-KICK HOUSES, who ever thought he would need a GIANT ROBOT:
Asfar as I am concerned, the moment you are able to JUMP-KICK a house, the need for GIANT ROBOTS substantially lessens.

I loved G-Gundamn. Then again, I enjoyed the fighting and calling out attacks deal. I just enjoy that so much.

Had a run twice on Toonami and each time, I ended up missing the last couple of episodes. Grr. But I found the ending on youtube so it's all good.
