They should make a actual half-life movie.
People keep saying things like that. It's not a good idea. Imagine trying to cram all the half-life stuff into a movie.

Damn... that was good. Reminds me of another film so guys made. Why is it Indie film makers can make such steller movies out of games, but Hollywoood can only make steller trash?

That kicked ass, and I salute the people who made it. Anyone complaining about non-headcrab zombies, cheesy acting, etc. can shut up until they've dedicated a huge chunk of their life to make a better Half-Life fan film.

eh... lots of oversights. Like.. where did that omni-tool thing come from? This is not mass effect. Also, headcrab zombies without the headcrabs are dead people. I was having some fun with it until the fight with the combine.

The second he did that breakdance head spin i knew it was going to be a cookie cutter action scene. I facepalmed when the combine too out that blade, too...

That ending brings a certain quote to mind. Specifically:

Evalutation terminated: Suject demonstrated extremely poor judgement.

There were some things that bothered me here.

1) The ninja stuff. Looked like a bad action movie in some parts. Most notably when he met the combine guy with the sword.
2) They seemed to be playing on easy mode, I didn't really feel any tension in the combat. The combine just seemed utterly worthless. (Asian dying doesn't count, he was a sitting duck.)
3) The asian's hologram thingy, just doesn't seem suitable for a random rebel in Half-Life.
4) Zombies without headcrabs.. sigh..
5) Combine with a sword just made me go "lolwut"

That being said, I was still entertained. I just can't say that it's a good Half-Life fan film.

It wasn't bad at all, especially considering the exceptionally low budget. Amateur filmmaking is definitely catching up with the big names.

I will watch it at some point, but I fuckin' hate how every vision of the Seven Hour War seems to show the Combine invading using the soldiers you fight in Half Life 2. Those soldiers are enslaved humans. How can they be invading with them?

Eh, then again, maybe it doesn't take place during the invasion. I'll watch it when I get the chance and find out.
Takes place five years after, hoss.
Good to know. I hate going into something with a negative bias, even when it ends up being put down shortly after it starts.

It was ok, though I still liked Escape from City 17 much more. There were several little things that bugged me in this one. That and I liked the characters more in C17, they might have not been the most convincing, but I was at least able to get more attached to them.
I agree. This film seemed like the director had only had the games described to him (hence the weird non-headcrab zombies and more human-acting Combine, among other little annoyances). A fun film, C17 is better from a series standpoint though.

Looks pretty but this is honestly fucking awful, in my eyes. Doesn't live up to the ideals, mood, feel, atmosphere, style or pacing of Half-Life.

Amazing for the small budget and what they had to work with, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking this is actually a good Half-Life movie?

I guess it's good for a fan made film but it's full of action film cliches:
Macho protagonist who knows kung-fu,check
Nerdy asian tech expert,check
Hot damsel in distress, check
Boss fights where the good guy almost loses, check
Good guy gets the girl, check
Other than that, the zombies were lifted of Left 4 Dead which has nothing to do with Half Life.
I could've spend those 11 minutes watching The Expendables..

Ok, so everyone's complained about headcrab-less zombies and the ninja scene already, but here's another thing that made me go wtf: after Shepard and co. get guns and are running, Shepard stops and takes cover behind what look like a couple of wooden pallets to hold off the Combine. Anyone, especially a trained soldier like Shepard should that these would provide absolutely no protection.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that the guy playing Shepard looks nothing like him? He looks too young and skinny to me...

I still think that Escape from City 17 is the better film, but this one was very nice too.
Seen it, but I think this one tops it by far. The resistance has gotten waaay more competent, but that only makes it more exciting to watch in this case.

It was very well done but a little melodramatic and cliched for my taste. Especially the ninja scene...I can't believe they thought that was a good idea.

Meh. Seems pretty mediocore for something which took 2 years and 1200 dollars. It was pretty cliched and parts of it just seemed silly; the ninja Combine being the obvious one, but the bit where the other Combine soldiers just advance slowly on Shepard when he's hiding behind a wooden pallet less than 10 metres away and all miss him was almost as bad. Remember Doomsday Arcade? I don't suppose their Half-Life episode took 2 years and $1200.

Also, seing as how Half-Life: Opposing Force is as long (if not longer) than the original Half-Life shouldn't Shepard be a lot more badass?
