She's cute and all, but I saw the bit in question and she could not support the sections when she had to talk with Stewart without the other comedians in the mix. I imagine she showed up, wasn't funny on her own, so they wrote a gag where she had as little to do as possible.

Good luck to Olivia! I love the Daily Show
Agreed...
and think she would make a great addition.
Not so much agreed. I can't see her living up to the comic genius of John Oliver or pulling off the kind of straight-faced flabbergast-ery* that Samantha Bee and the other gents wring out of their point-blanc interviews. Maybe she'll work up to that level one day, but I think starting out she's going to have a rough time.

*Had to make up a word for that emotion you see on people's faces when they're being brow-beaten with the irony of their own statements.

No. This can only be bad for the show.
I don't think she'll hurt the show, it's survived a lot of crappy skits and performances. It's generally too good (and kind of important) to get tanked just because they picked up an air-headed correspondent. They've parted with the likes of Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Ed Helms, no one has managed to reach the standard they set but the show goes on. I think if anything is going to sink the show it'll be Jon's "old Jewish man" shtick which is quickly becoming more depressingly real than it is humorous.

Ok,nothing against the girl. I think she's pretty and all, but I just finished--I actually I didn't, her performance was too painful--that episode of the Daily Show, I don't think she's cut out for that kind of humor: you know, the kind that actually involves some sort of brain function.

I've been watching the Daily Show long enough to tell you that all of those other correspondents didn't really do that much better on their first reports.

Also, I've seen her pull off a straight-face ridiculous interview with the best of them.

Eh, Olivia's cute an' all, but once you're in Maxim magazine (Which I hate, according to a post I made about 5 months ago) you lose all respect from the Tinneh.
and someone like Olivia should care wether or not you respect her because?

But while we're on the subject of Olivia she's up for a Guys choice award: She's going up against Olivia Wilde in the Hottest "Olivia" category. stop by the site and vote

She was tuuuuuurrible
They let her talk a total of 42 seconds out of the 6:52 minutes the sketch lasted, and it was still painful every time she opened her mouth. Good thing they knew she was just pretty and packed the bit full of other people and made her just stand there like a decorative plant.

Man, people on this forum really seem to hate attractive young actresses or in her case television presenter. I thought she did well enough. I do think that she should have had more lines if this was a "tryout". I wish her well and hope she gets it.

Also, Jon Stewart is the only funny person on that show. Mostly because the fake news sections and skits are silly. I could never understand why someone would agree to volunteer to go on that show for those interviews (not Jon's interview) with their subjects and points of view that they feel strongly about. /flame suit

Well I think that has to do with how the news is getting more depressing, rather than Jon's humor running dry. In the 90's, the biggest thing that was going on was how our president got a blowjob in the oval office. The economy was good, and it was generally happier times.

Now, you have a global financial crisis, thousands of people are out of work, we're stuck in 2 wars with no end in sight, dictators are threatening nuclear proliferation, millions of gallons of oil is being dumped into the gulf, corruption is running rampant, and our government is becoming completely ineffectual at running this country.

I use to watch AOTS and then she called every man who wasn't circumcised "disgusting" just to show the world that you can take a girl out of Kansas but you can't wash off the ignorance.

My hate for Olivia Munn hasn't nothing to do with her appearance or ethnicity. I hate her because she is not funny and whenever she expresses her personal opinion they tend top be very ignorant or boring.

No. No. No. Fuck no. God, no. Oh dear god of all that may be considered holy in this world, no. Please oh merciful Satan don't let this be so....

She is just awful! She sucks in AOTS, in the bit parts I've seen her in movies, she's managed to fuck those up and now she's trying to ruin The Daily Show?

No Olivia, just no. Stick to AOTS. At least I don't watch that and it wasn't a good show to begin with.

It might be because she's so reminisent of this woman, but I don't find her in the least bit funny.
even if the gal is pretty, i'd tend to have someone that knows what it's talking about too, so i must agree with what you've planted.
Was she reading of a cue cards?

Well, maybe as a pity-based form of humor...
Keep in mind she was on G4 then. Here, she's on a network with actual talent.

Although I have to admit it seemed more like a hazing than an audition. The other reporters kinda stole the show right out from under her. "Still reporting Katrina" indeed.

But I hope they give her a shot that lets her actually go for it on her own, and I hope she makes the most of it.

She's a bit of an airhead. I don't think she'd be a good fit on the show. But good luck to her anyways.
