Um... any interesting game, though most tend to get boring once you have everything that it doesn't take three hours of solid gameplay to unlock. I have never encountered a game that I have become 'addicted' to as most either get repetitive or like i said before, the only things left to do take three hours each.

He isn't just talking about WoW. Try to read the post more thoroughly.

OT: KotOR. I've currently on my 31st playthrough, and still having as much fun as I did originally.

The game I've replayed the most, sadly, is FABLE: The Lost Chapters (Yes the "The" is capitalized.) approx 30-40 times.

Hmmm well it depends. All MMOs are addictive to those they draw in, not just WoW, though it is the most successful.

The more developed sandbox games like Oblivion and Saint's Row 2 are probably the runners up. I can't claim this of the entire genere because increasing numbers of Sandbox games are simply the abillity to committ some random mayhem between a story campaign, and maybe some races or something. The really good ones however have hundreds of things to do.

Right behind that would probably be fighting games, and FPSs as people will play hundreds and hundreds of rounds online and lose track of time... frequently. Both seem to be equal offenders in this, though FPS games are more popular at the moment.

Honorable mention probably goes to Strategy Games in general, however truthfully I don't think there have been any in recent years that have inspired the mania of say "Civilization", or "Master Of Orion" in their heydays. Recent versions of Civilization for example seem popular, but aren't really the "OMG" thing they used to be.

Hard to bring it down to specific cantidates however. If you omit MMOs I'd have to say the single most addicting game of late was "Fallout 3". I say this not simply because I like it, but because it managed to stay on Gamefaqs top 10 list for most of a year, oftentimes holding multiple spots for muliple platforms.

I remember getting up in the wee hours of the morning just to get in some time playing Might and Magic 2, or Wizardry 8. That was years ago, thankfully...

I got hooked on Final Fantasy VI back in '94 and I've not let go. It's like a great book; I know how it ends, what happens, etc., but I play through it at least once a year, I find.

I can't recall any significant addictions, but I spent quite a sizable amount of time on Chrono Trigger out of a mixture of RPG addictiveness and awesome. I might have gotten addicted to Fallout 3, but it kept crashing, which is a good way to shake an addiction.

If you're wondering why my answer's so weak, I never got into MMO's because of the monthly fee thing. I might have had an early onset with a 10 day trial of WoW, but I got bored after about 5 days.

Hello again! My, my, isn't this a coincidence - that's exactly what I was going to say!

Aside from that, I played the crap out of Oblivion and Burnout Paradise. And I had an intense period of playing TF2 a year ago.

But none of that's really addiction. Whenever I play a game I'll play it intensely for a while, but then I might never pick it up again. For example, I haven't played Dead Space since the weekend I spent playing it up 'till 4 in the morning every night.

Why hello again!

Yes... Dead Space had me riveted to my chair for 4 straight days.

I don't give a shit if people complain it wasn't scary enough - it scared the shit out of me and is technically almost perfect (minus the broken meteor sections)

It's more compulsion than addiction. I always stop when the missus needs some attention.

Pokemon probably. I went to a school were like everyone played Pokemon and whenever I got the chance I would whip out my DS and get to training. I had a 45 minute bus ride to and from school and every day for about 3 months I would play Pokemon the entire 45 minutes. I've never been addicted to a game like Pokemon.
