Since I'm guessing this is one of those 'only one game from each series' lists, I respect basically all the choices from the series I recognize; I'd put Platinum as the best Pokemon, but I'm biased. Less sure about the exact order, but I'm still gonna give this one a nod of respect.
I have no stake in this one, but it's nice to see IGN do list with one game per franchise for once.

24: I'd say BoF 4 is better than 3, althought as much as I hate to say it, they're both pretty mid (very mundane gameplay)
22: Meh, ni no kuni gameplay never gel into anything interesting and story is so bog standard its hard to recall, remove studio ghibili involvement and nobody would remember it even exist.
19: Bravely default 2 is kinda all over the place, the story is trash, but I guess its kinda the point? The gameplay as good base, but incredibly bad balance, which makes for a very uneven experience.
17: I guess I'd also pick vesperia if we're too pick just one of them, althought gameplay could use help, which we had vesperai story/cast with grace gameplay.
16: Nah, KH1 is just better, the improvement to gameplay don't excuse the trainwreck story/convoluted lore.
15: Nice to see some recognition for Grandia 2, really wish the game was harder thought
11: Really wish octopath 2 improved on 1 failing, but everything I've seen about it says its just more of the same, ie a bunch of disconnected story that don't even really hold up on their own.
10: I know some people worship the trail franchise, but more word does not equal better story, quite the opposite actually.
9: I guess if they could just pick any but gold/silver make sense, I still remember the WTF feeling when I found out that the full first game area was included as a bonus.
7: Its weird that earthbound is so memorable but there hasn't been much attempt at making other RPG set in a modern world, anyway while I appreciate the game, the gameplay is pretty boring, I couldn't imagine playing it without an emulator fast setting.
6: Bit suprised they picked 11, I would have picked 8, but there's nothing particularly wrong with 11.
3: Yeah X makes sense, I'd say it doesn't excel at any one area, but is all around pretty solid, personally prefer 9.
2: Yeah I just don't get the P5 love, I hate the cast and story so much
1: Yeah figured, it deserves it too. I do wish the combat gameplay was a bit more interesting, but they do enough to make it stand out from other game of that epoch.
I think notable absent would be the mana franchise (seiken densetsu 3/trial of mana is excellent), similarly Terranigma is also remarkable. No fire emblem too (or FFT for that matter, If they count it as a FF, I'd say it should go above X). Legend of dragoon too could have had a place in this.
I played some of Octopath 2, but I dropped it for the same reason I did the first game: I felt like I was playing a game made up entirely of the side quests from a larger game. Oddly enough, I also played Live A Live, which has a sort of similar structure, and mostly enjoyed that.
I'm guessing Terranigma is not there because it never got a NA release, and like most US-based outlets, IGN tends overlook games not released there.
I'm also kinda missing Panzer Dragoon Saga. Tho if I have to be honest, most of the games on the list are imo better games. But it's also an experience like no other. Afaik, nothing looks, sounds, plays and feels quite like it.

Max giving a thorough detail of all the Grooves in Capcom vs. SNK 2. I usually stick with either C-Groove, N-Groove, or K-Groove.

Why do I get the feeling these are the same morons who complained about the female protagonist in Ghost of Yotei?
Also, this isn't some random nobody; It's effin Ciri! I thought everyone liked her as a character? Her sections were fun to play in Witcher 3, and I thought it was cool have a whole game dedicated to her. And come on, it's indicated that Geralt pretty much retires from monster hunting after Witcher 3. I think it's fitting have him as a mentor figure.
As long as he doesn't get the Joel treatment from TLOU2, i think we're good

I have praised this game over on general gaming news thread, but with videos like this reminding of The Day Before, I think I got way too excited. I guess that's because unlike that scam game, this one didn't seem to have as much asset flips.
I also think because it's a singleplayer, they aren't looking to grow the fanbase as much as possible. Because if EA/Ubisoft/Fntastic has taught me anything, they always promote the multiplayer aspect, sometimes with those cringy "totally realistic in-game chat" marketing. But this game isn't doing that.
This game is welcome to prove my doubt wrong, but I will be keeping my eyes on this. I have been looking for a unique zombie game not in modern-day or sci-fi settting
It's generally my policy to consider every game to be fake until I'm actually playing it. I'm not gonna be a killjoy and say you should never look forward to anything, but keeping expectations in check is always a good idea.
