I loved it. It was fun and original, and that's all that matters to me.Calendor1 said:So, does anyone besides me love that movie?
Didn't see the bit about spoilers? And besides, the whole "item" around which the ending revolves? It's shown in the trailer, so you have to assume he uses it in the movie. The trailer already hints that at some point he's going to use a 'you fail, continue y/n?'.Towels said:Damn it Bob, I just finished trying to defend your opinion against all the Expendable fans you pissed off, and you repay me by spoiling the movie I'm going to see tomorrow in the first paragraph?!
Excactly, a whole lot of "I'm to cool to watch something with Michael Cerra in it." Quite frankly I haven't seen any of the Cerra movies between super bad and Scott Pilgrim, but he would chase me away from what looked like something very orignal, I got the comics 4 mouths ago because of the trailer, and after reading them it was like finding out about Keanu Reves in Cowboy Bebob. But turns out it did a pretty good job, even though the movie was carried by the subject material, directing and cinematography.Moriarty70 said:See, I came out the far end of Scott Pilgrim seeing it as a parody of hipster culture by simply being self-aware of it's hipster apathy. I have a feeling most of the hate comes from two sides.
1. People think it's a stright up hipster film.
2. Hipsters realize they're being mocked.
3. The hatred of a popular Michael Cerra.
This is what bothers me the most about the movie. The original Scott Pilgrim is certainly sometimes both nerdy and awkward. But he is also portrayed as handsome, popular with girls, and occasionally surprisingly socially adept and appealing. It is quite an uncommon portrait, that steers clear of the most blatant stereo- and archetypes.MovieBob said:socially-awkward nerds living in not-quite-reality
