So, if we are just picking any character that is going to be on our side then why wouldn't we just pick the most god-like characters ever, even if they are evil? They are going to be on our side, regardless.

You win with this post. Although If I had to choose between them I'd take Sev.
The rest of my team would include Master Chief, The Arbiter, Halfjaw the Spec-Ops Elite, Snake, The Cole Train, Raiden in Cyborg-Ninja form, Kratos, Jack from Madworld, Jack from Bioshock, 2 Big Daddies (1 Rosie 1 Bouncer), and for the hell of it; Gravemind.
Oh my god...I didn't even realize anyone still remembered that game... Yea, I would take Sev as well. And give him one of those clicker counter things because he is always losing track of his kills...
There's actually quite a few people on this site that remember it. I've literally wished every day for a sequel to that game. Especially with the way it ended. The clicker is a fantastic idea.

A Big Daddy, preferable the badass one in the Bioshock 2 trailers.

Kratos, we could totally bang chicks afterwards, well, at least HE would bang chicks afterwards.

Fawkes, with his Gatling Laser and giant sledge hammer, and cryptic quotes about life.

Travis Touchdown, cause he seems like we would get along well with our love of Moe anime.

Sargent Reznov from Call of Duty 5, for his brutal skill with a machete and PPSh, two of my favorite weapons. Also, Jack from BioShock, because he has a magical hand that shoots bees. An old Yahtzee quote, sure, but a legitimate reason nonetheless. And maybe the Mysterious Stranger from Fallout 3.

I would say
Wrex, Garrus, Shepard, Ashley, Liara and Tali from Mass Effect would make a nice team.

Although I woudn't mind the Arbiter from Halo 3, why?
Because at the end of Halo 3 he is the supreme unquestioned commander of the elites and therefore has complete control of an endless supply of powerful reptilian warriors using high tech weaponry as well as a fleet of thousands of battleships.
If I had him as an ally, I'd be unstoppable.

PoP:SoT Era prince on my right, that guy from Braid on my left. Fight starts, we rewind time and never get into the fight in the first place, and solve the problem creatively. Keep trying that infinite times, until we succeed.

If I REALLY wanted to cheat, I could point out the old Serial Experiments Lain game for Playstation, and say Lain herself. Fight breaks out. Lain decides that all the enemies never existed in the first place, and all bad guys cease to be.

I would go with Arthas, but seeing as how he has a tendency to betray, I'd have to go with:
an agent from crackdown - can jump buildings, throw cars, and can throw grenades with enough force they can kill people before they explode.
Commander Shepard as a vanguard - can use a shotgun, and telekinetic powers.
Jack from Bioshock - can use plasmids, and has an arsenal of modified weapons.
