After reading all the complaints about 'radical' and the speech, I have to say that apparently most people around here have no sense of irony. Which is rather a handicap on the internet.

As for complaints about the intro. . . it's a style, you wouldn't understand (except for the '. . . live audience' bit, that needs to die.). Same goes for the animation (though that could use moar energy / motion, regardless).

The personalities are a bit flat at the moment, but I think Gary was the only one I found unenjoyable to watch. Time should fix this.

The dialogue needs moar balance between the characters (yes, Bethany's boobs are nice, but she can't just be a static cutout off to the side). Also, work on making it feel moar flowing and natural; it's all quite stiff at the moment.

As far as humor is concerned, none of the dog puns made me cringe, and while the jokes were by no means spectacular, none seemed notably sub-par.

Overall, I stand by my opinion that it's a series with lots of potential and a solid basis. Steps towards greatness appear to be rather stumbling and slow for now, so I think Russ just needs to put some real effort behind it, and it'll be set.

PS: Still better than should-have-been-forgotten realms. Fuckin' hell.
Ugh, people that think they're better than everyone else because they "get" the humor are worse than this show. It's not irony, it's just bad characters and bad writing. They could have been trying to go for that, but they missed the mark by a pretty long shot.

And the intro, it isn't style, it's just needlessly long. So I guess I don't get why they made it needlessly long. When you have a six minute show, a minute of it shouldn't be credits. The opening credits shouldn't be any more than 10 seconds and preferably only 5 seconds and then they can keep the ending credits 30 seconds if they want. They can even keep the random bad Gary bit that is completely out of place in the ending credits.

Just like the credits, Gary would be better if he came in smaller quantities. His rant just became boring because he kept going. I know someone could say well, that's his character! but to that I just say then change the character to something that's actually good!

I have no idea why the writer is so in love with Gary, he's not half as entertaining as they think he is.

The writers just need to learn to cut everything down. If that episode were three minutes and contained all the same information, it might have been decent and I might even say hey, it has room to grow.

Even the bit with Bob, he could have been hilarious. I thought he was funny in thing where Gary was answering emails and I thought he was going to be funny in this too. He started out funny, but then he stayed there and then he started talking and then he kept talking.

Congratulations Russ or whatever the name of the person that wrote this, you took something funny and made it boring.

Even the animations reeks of some terrible amateur flash animation on new grounds or whatever the hip flash site is these days. It isn't stylish or anything new and the art itself is bland and easily forgotten.

This whole show just reeks of fail and the first two episodes put a terrible taste in most peoples mouth. I'll be surprised if anyone even remembers this show in 6 months except for the people making random jokes to the insiders.
THIS..

AND... this show is Code Monkeys with DOGS. Thats it. Nothing original here, even the humor is recycled, just like my laughs were. There ought to be a law.
Rubbish, pure and utter rubbish. It's not even getting a "one more week" chance from me. This series is DOA.

EDIT: Upon reflection, I think a better idea for this show would have been to call it "Game DAWGZ" and then have them all appear and sound like stereotypical black people from the ghetto trying to make video games that turn out to be knock-off "urban" versions of REAL video games.. like "Mass Ground Effects" or "Lord of the Bling" or summat like that.

I liked it. Alot. Maybe I am but a lowly college freshman, but I've often dreamed of randomly pulling a sword out during a meeting and shouting "Begone!" at the top of my lungs. I am looking forward to this series. Naysayers be damned!

Haha! Gary reminds me of a dog I used to have (albeit, one that couldn't talk and didn't wear a tie). I'm looking forward to more of this show, I've liked the couple of episodes so far.

I thought the pilot was a barrage of unbelievably embarrassing and lame jokes. This is a step up from that, but it's still not exactly funny.

On the three strike policy your up to 2, the only solace I can give you is that it's mildly better than Unforgotten Realms.

Everyone in this topic is ---> here <---

The point of what they're trying to do with this series... is way over -------------------------------> there.

From one of the 'meet the characters' topics before the first episode:

I rewatched the trailer

It seemed like it actually COULD be funny, but the "dogs" part is really pointless

Why not just have them humans?

And why do they have to be dogs?
#4 and #7 are the actual reasons [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.166654?page=3#4474638].

What, did you guys never watch TV in the 80s and 90s? That's like saying, "Gee, Darkwing Duck was great and all, but why did he have to be a DUCK? He'd have been much better as a crime-fighting human!"
That explains why it's dogs, why they're using words like 'bitchin' and 'radical', etc. As for whether or not it's funny... well, that's entirely subjective, but I'd suggest that a lot of people are failing to see what they're trying to do.

I thought it was a completely ridiculous idea for a show until I read the post I've quoted above. I still don't necessarily find it funny (just not my sort of humour so far), but it's much better than it would seem at face value if you consider it within the intended frame of reference. I honestly think it's got a lot of potential, so I'm sticking with it.

I totally would play that game.

Good episode guys, can't see why everyone is so skeptical about it

[sub]Yes, that includes you, Johnny[/sub]
...because the characters are one-dimensional, annoying, and unlikeable, with excessively long lines and very few jokes that were even remotely funny?

Not to mention that they could have punchlined it with a Zelda reference and completely missed it.

this is still on? id prefer unforgotten realms coming back.
I would not. Believe it or not, this is actually more tolerable
Yey another polarizing show. Albeit one with better animation, jokes, a larger preestablished fan base and a higher ratio of jokes to run time. The jokes that were in this were not funny to me, the fan base is not there yet to have "boring" episodes. And I liked Unforgotten Realms. It brought me to this site. Once here, I watched essenstially every other video series and found that I liked it. Until Apocolypse Lane that is. And even then, it's at least possible to see that it is funny to a seperate audience from oneself. In other words, it isn't bad. This show just strikes me as bad. (Although as I said in my other posts, still avereage by Youtube standards.) If the next episode isn't dramaticallly better, I hope this gets canceled so a different show can have a chance.

so does that one dog just carry around a sword wherever he goes?
also, as far as the the whole *****'n and radical thing, things from the 80's and 90's should stay there.

Why is everything a dog pun? Humans don't make human puns every two minutes. Try reading VGCats for some better ideas. Best of luck next episode.
I also believe the series would benefit from a decrease in dog humor, and an increase in work place related/game design humor. Bob was probably the funniest part, mostly because I've known people who are anal about company regulations and breaks,

Okay, this isn't a comedy on game design. This isn't even a parody. This is straight-up insulting. Especially the "idea dog" bit.

People like me have to go through quite a bit to get anywhere in the video game industry, and it doesn't help that this show is butchering all of this and simplifying our jobs in a weak attempt at humor. And is the furry thing necessary?

I mean, that would be like if I gathered a bunch of friends together and made a web series on how editors of The Escapist just sit around reposting other peoples game-related news blogs while one of them just records himself nitpicking video games and editing out the pauses when he breathes, and titled the whole project "Editorial Kittens".

But since I'm just a poster - and I'm pretty sure this show is under contract - nothing I say is going to change the fact that this travesty will continue. The least I can do is shy all my friends away from this one.

I won't be watching these again in the future, that's for sure.
