Games come with manuals? ...oh wait yes they do. Nah. They stay in the jewel case. Unless i really want to play but can't because the power is out or i blew up my CPU or something to that effect.

Otherwise, i swear by the "real men don't read manuals" attitude. If you've played one game in a genre, you've played them all. They all handle the same.

Yeah, I read them on the tram home or on the walk back up to my house.

I always read the manual whilst a game is installing/loading if only to get a grasp on the backstory of a game ,which is one of the reasons i dislike resistance it gives no story at all in the manual ,or there is is that shitty 5 minute intro to show a very promising backstory ,maybe a prequel could be made where you play as a ruskie leveling cities and fighting early chimera??

Sho do. There's usually something fun in them that will at least amuse me, if not actually explain a game mechanic or action to me.
[Edit] Oh, and it validates the publisher's act of including the manual.

Hells to the no I wanna play the game not read about the game there isn't that much time in the world.
In fact, there's so little time, that we shouldn't even bother with punctuation!

Anywho, I'm reading the Gothic II manual right now.

I do, but only because if I didn't I would have my girlfriend sat next to me while I'm playing trying to tell me how to do it!

Sometimes...but rarely to find out how to play. Some manuals are just witty and colorful and fun to read (Or just look at)...

Generally, if a game is complex, it'll just have in-game tutorials for everything I need to know...and if a game is relatively simple, I probably don't need to be told how to play.

Usually if the game doesn't have an in-game tutorial or isn't intuitive, I'll read it. If I'm going along in the game and there's something I'm supposed to do or something shows up and I'm like "what's that?" then I'll go to the manual and look it up.

Only if the manual contains detailed info about stuff I care about (weapons and the badassery thereof, etc.).

They smell great... unless they're trade-ins, of course.

I do read them; although, never the controls- I let the tutorial (Which, again, I always complete.) teach me those.

I generally look at the manual, play the game, and then actually read the manual.

I loved the style and layout of the No More Heroes manual, and also the style of the GTA manuals.

Depends on the manual. If it's a thick tome that clearly the developer intended the player to read to have any clue in the world what the hell is going on in the game (Capitalism II and The Witcher, I'm looking directly at you) then I'll RTFM. If the manual is a "booklet" that has all the production values I could get at home with a printer, some A4 paper folded in half, and Microsoft Word, then I won't waste my time (ironic that the more time I have to put into it, the less likely the time is to be wasted.)

The very first thing I do when i get a game is
1.)Make sure it's for the right console and make sure it's the same game as the box says.
2.)Make sure that there are either minor or no scratches on it (depends on used or new)
3.)Read the Manual

Sometimes... usually when I play a particually advanced game like Hearts of iron 2 or Europa universalis 3 and need to read about some feature/unit...
