Game of Thrones Season 7 discussion thread. (SPOILERS ABOUND)

Anyway so the plan is to capture a Zombie to prove to the Seven Kingdoms of the threat of the White Walkers and their Undead Minions.

IMO instead of a Wight they should capture a White Walker itself. That would be even more impressive proof and achievement.

Unless there is not that many White Walkers in existance?

I had more of a Suicide Squad vibe myself with the heroes reuniting with their enemies for a common goal.

I don't know why people are complaining about the later seasons. It is more consistently action-packed and the storylines are more condensed & focused. Oh yeah, they are finally delivering on that whole "Winter is coming." tease from the very first episode.

Because the writing is terrible and the show is a hollow, fan-servicey echo of itself.

Not a TERRIBLE episode, though.

Cersei and Jaime's scenes were limp, and we had the terribly funny accelerated travel going on...people banging back and forth making journeys that took weeks or months in what felt like hours. That was the brunt of the problem, along with the Hound letting himself get captured with no blood spilled. Oh, and Sam's Citadel scenes fell flat for the first time. The idea that a Maester wrote down an annulment for Rhaegar is insulting to the audience's intelligence.

OK stuff...some more Dragon CGI porn, some mysterious Littlefinger scheming, Stark siblings being weird and distant with one another and a fan servicey Gendry re-emergence were all alright. Gendry using the hammer is cool enough that I'll give the obvious fan wankery of it a pass. I too am a fan.

Good stuff...the long pans north of the wall following the crows was gorgeous, Game of Thrones still does scenery like this very, very well. And while it is also fan-wankery of the highest order, a magnificent seven of John Snow, Thoros of Myr, The Hound, Jorah Mormont, Tormund Giantsbane, Gendry Stone and Berric Dondarrion heading north of the wall on a madcap mission to retrieve a living corpse is so Rule of Cool I'm happy to indulge it.

Amazing stuff...No Euron. Maybe they wised up and wrote that particular error in judgment out of the show like Dorne. (Sadly, unlikely.)

I agree, this episode still had some of those contrivances that irked me in earlier episodes (there's gotta be a better way to show the passage of time, maybe a music montage like in summer road trip movie?) but its okay because the scenes that they lead to are pretty cool. Gendry and Davos killed it this episode, really enjoyed their performances and what they ended up doing with the characters. I genuinely laughed out loud when Davos said "thought you'd still be rowin'"

The only thing I thought was a bit of a let down was Tyrion and Jaime meeting. They just didn't seem to say much, and it probably could have been handled just as well if Tyrion had simply got Jaime a letter somehow

Dinklage has been flailing since Season 4. He thrived when he had better dialogue but he's struggled since.

Dinklage has been flailing since Season 4. He thrived when he had better dialogue but he's struggled since.

Ehh, his scenes with Dany and Varys were okay, but he's definitely been bad lately. He was much better as a main character whereas now he's a support character

This episode was pretty good on the whole. The time passage stuff was noticeable here but it's never been a thing that bothered me with this show like it does others. I don't mind a little fan service at this point either. Having stuck with the show so long it's cool to see characters like Gendry showing up again. And I gotta say, I'm pumped for next episode. The show always excels when the Walkers are on screen.

That touching moment between Jon Snow and Drogon was something I've gone on about since his heritage was revealed. Sure it's one of those "fanfic" moments but it was still very cool to see it on screen. And he's the one true heir, above Dany! The Starks and Targaryens were wed! A small thing like that has got to come out eventually. But it better hurry. 2 episodes left this season and 6 in the next, possibly feature length every one.

Yep in general agreement with BloatedGrubby, the teleporting has been turned to eleven but in general this episode at least had some intelligent elements.

Nothing in this series makes any sense these days. The characters have turned into total morons.

How are the Dothraki and all of their horses surviving on the barren rock that is Dragonstone?
How did Tyrion get back from that battle as quickly as Daenerys did? Why did he go in the first place?
Why did Tyrion think it was a good idea to wander around Kings Landing without even bothering to wear a hood over his face?
Why does nobody mind when Sam keeps stealing shit?
Why are Cersei and Daenerys taking the White Walker threat seriously when last week they couldn't care less?
Why doesn't Daenerys just attack Kings Landing now that the Lannister army is destroyed?

Like, I thought the thing Gendry was swinging around in the show looked dumb, but this thing takes the cake.

It would be too heavy and unevenly weighted to actually use. A missed or deflected swing would send the wielder stumbling off balance.

Worse still, the head, the part that supposedly hits people, is wide and flat. That would spread the force of impact out over a larger area, decreasing any damage inflicted. You'd be better off using a farmer's sledgehammer.

The only useful part of that piece of crap would be the crow's beak spike on the back. Removing the hammer part of that "warhammer" would actually be an improvement.

So Dany takes a page from her dad's playbook, Jaime remains weirdly stern in his refusal to accept the situation he's in, Gendry was brought back to please the fans, and Arya and Littlefinger played a few rounds of "spy vs. spy"...

Not a bad mix, all tolled, even the plot-relevant information Sam was inevitably going to pick up once he was given his task wasn't as game-breaking as it could have been. The Tarly plot was brought to an abrupt end, and I recall that there was something that stuck out to me as annoying as I watched it, but I can't recall it despite trying now, so it must not have been that annoying.

Yeah, I stand by what I said, it was alright. next week is the penultimate episode of the season, so I imagine we'll see a few plots brought close to a head soon... what few are being juggled since the season 6 finale.

This hammer brained the heads of Orc Warbosses, killed the first Everchosen of Chaos, and its litiral english name is Skullspliter. It also has magic runes ingrained on it to make it more stronger.
