A few of these have been mentioned, but I'd love to see:

Quest for Glory
Mechwarrior
EarthSiege
Missionforce: Cyberstorm

Mech games have pretty much died out. BRING THEM BACK! Cyberstorm is one of my all time favorite games, but we'll never see another one. Mechwarrior is the only one on my list likely to be remade.

Marc Ecko's Getting Up, the combat was meh in the original but aside from that it was good and it could become quite amazing with a reboot.

I know there's an MMO coming but that doesn't count.

I want another Knights of the old republic game. A remake would be great too. I'd love to see what all the charecters look like when there not made up of like 50 polygons.

Resident Evil. The storyline has been in the garbage since RE4. Well, it hasn't been that good since Code Veronica. So they definitely need a fresh start.

Also, Double Dragon. Man, I miss that game.
Ummm...The story was always garbage. Worse then that in fact. That series has one of the most convoluted and just plain horrible plots that have ever graced fiction as a whole. At least Resi 4 had the gameplay to make up for it where you could actually move in the damn direction you want without wanting to break you controller

(Didn't mean to attack your opinion, just hate that series with a passion (Not including 4 which is one of my favorite games)

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the old Metal Gear games remade into the current generation. I'd prefer to see a MGS3 reboot. The Star Wars: Battlefront games would be a great reboot also.
You're in luck MGS3 is coming to 3DS with added gimmick 3D /facepalm
Golly gee willikers! That's one more D than usual!

I think Spyro would be an awesome reboot. I grew up playing Spyro and that was the first game I played on a console, it would be awesome to see the first game in all its glory on the PS3 graphics engine.

So, what game series or game do you think should get a reboot?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Spyro is kind of already getting a reboot. And he looks like this...

The horror...

NEVER bring that.... that....thing up again! I will NEVER accept it as Spyro! It is some sort of beast from the darkest pit of the void trying to fool people by wearing his skin! The Spyro we all know and love is dead! ;-;

OT: I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE for a reboot of the Tomba series!

YAY! Somebody else who loves Tomba!

Sadly I haven't played it in years and that was only a demo when I was a kid, have never seen a real copy of it and have only seem them extremely expensive on ebay :( Otherwise I'd play it, the things I remember kicked ass.

Star Wars: battlefront!

Or Dynasty Warriors(at least give it to another company that will do something innovative with it).

Seeing as the companies no longer make money off of the game (it's not even on the PSN store, damn it! ;-;), you could always use an emulator to play it. That's what I do to re-live my childhood memories. :3

Yeah, have been meaning to do that for a few games I could never find it. I will get around to it when I can be bothered :p

If it came out on the PSN store it would be a Day 1 buy for me. Same as the second.

THE MOST undderated game series of all time. Series of fun little platformers that didn't get the attention it deserved.
Yeah probably this. Namco have put a remake of the original game on the Wii, but a proper reboot is in order.

No one else seems to have said these games yet:

Hitman... this cannot be emphasized enough.

Brothers in Arms: yes I know this one will probably be debatable by most but as a history nerd
nothing gives me my history video game fix like BiA.

Freedom Fighters: This one might just be nostalgia talking but I remember this being a bit of a sleeper hit that came in an ea collection bundle.

I'm probably just stating the obvious here, but i think system shock series, with todays graphics would be... just... indescribable! ( and before anyone says so, no bioshock does NOT count as a reboot)

Replaying games of the past is a great experience. As your mind is more mature and you can understand things better, you get a greater feel for the game. I never beat Tomba 1 as a kid(I could never find a copy as well so I rented it), so revisiting its world and its inhabitants with a fresh mind was a real treat.

The same can be said for shows you watched in your childhood. I've recently been watching Swat Kats and I'm amazed at how often the cartoon shows death. From homeless people being eaten alive by giant sludge monsters to police officer's dying in helicopter crashes and tank explosions to people being crystallized and then shattered into pieces.

It's always refreshing to visit the past with a fresh outlook.

I agree completely, I always like to replay/rewatch things every few years or so as I grow more with experience. Makes me see things I didn't before and add new layers to what I like.

Yeah, some of the old cartoons like Swat Kats (awesome show) had a lot of stuff they wouldn't do today. Look at the Transformers and Ninja Turtles (1990) films, which is still some of my all time favourites despite seeing so many "classic and important films". It's wonderful to watch the film elitists cringe when I place Ninja Turtles alongside The Godfather :p

As a lot of people have already mentioned, I'd absolutely love to see a Homeworld reboot. I've not really seen anything quite like it in terms of gameplay yet. I'd have thought space would be a very common battleground in RTS games, but we've only had a handful of space based strategy games, and few good ones even among those, and none anything like Homeworld or HW2. Here's the thing: it's not hard to pull off technology-wise. It'd be relatively cheap to develop the engine. The difficulty would be - and has always been - in the UI. Giving orders quickly and efficiently in three dimensions is difficult to pull off with mouse and keyboard.

That's no reason for a reboot though. It'd be cheap to do, a good challenge, and there's a market for it, but those aren't reasons in and of themselves. If you need a solid reason, here's one: graphics. HW2 is still stunning after all this time, think of how much awesomeness a modern reboot would entail.

One thing they'd have to do is bring back the same team of concept artists. Homeworld and HW2, besides being fun, were beautiful games.

But here's one nobody has mentioned yet: Sky Odyssey.

Never heard of it? It was one of the PS2's launch titles. It wasn't very pretty (downright N64 like), but it was one of the few examples of a non-combat flight game that was actually fun to play. You assumed the role of an explorer, looking for fragments of a lost map to find the ruined tower of a forgotten civilization, venturing remote and hostile lands inaccessible by any route except air. You had to go through storms, rocky crevices, old ruins, find a refueling plane in the fog, and other adventures and misadventures. It all maintained a very tense but adventurous atmosphere, despite suffering from repetitive mission designs at some points.

Here's why it deserves a reboot:
- It had a lot of potential, but was plagued by some easily fixed issues:
-->Repetitive mission design. Less canyon missions please.
-->Poor story exposition. I'm not asking for cinematics or a main character - there are other, better ways to tell a story in a game - but I am asking for something more than a bored sounding mission briefing.
-->Poor GUI.
- A reboot could be absolutely stunning graphically. A game like Sky Odyssey is ripe ground for scenery porn, something that was never -and could never be - done in the original.
- Marketing. Games where you kill stuff to death will never go out of vogue, but the market is probably up for something different. Handled with the same attention to detail as a game like Portal, even non-combat or racing games can be successful on a large scale these days.

But here's some things a reboot could also do.
- An open world approach might be interesting.
- A restructuring so that the focus is on gathering resources for mounting the next big mission.

Call of Duty! No more realist war games; something more sci-fi, futuristic, Apocalyptic (maybe, maybe not). Black Ops was da bomb, but it should be the final nail in the coffin for this type of shooter.
