When did the media agree that the gamer was stereotyped? I mean... okay, look. Stereotypes apply to everyone in that group. I can't really think of a stereotype of a gamer, except for maybe FOX news' "OMG Panic Gamers are killers!" stereotype. Even still....

Is i wrong for a 34 year old guy who owns and operates a paintball feild to have a well lit basement comfortable couch 42 inch plasma, swords on the wall, a copy of CoD4 and nothing but time? i dont...

Fat- No. I'm about 6 foot, weigh 80 kilograms(ok, so maybe i am a little flabby and my shape isn't the best, but i'm trying to fix that)
Lazy- Now thisis one of my more peculiar traits . either i have extreme amounts of energy or none o.o well..sometimes i've got moderate amounts..but that's rare
Live in a basement- I'm 17 and live with my dad, but my room is on the top floor <.<
Has foam swords and a castle- I collect pointy and sharp stuffs, yes, but i only have 2-3 sowrds..a set containing a katana, a wakizashi and a tanto, though i bought it in sweden just because it looked nice
Always end up embarrassing myself- Another strange thing about me: either i'm very suave and bla bla bla, or i'm a complete retard socially (depends on when, where and who is around)

yeah, a little bit on the overweight side, but that shall soon be solved with technology- exercise bike! no-longer will I have to venture outside to lose weight.

Oooh, hygiene! I love a good bath, me.

Personally, I don't live in a basement. Maybe the basement of morality. But my room is a hideous pale green with pine furniture from Ikea. mmm, smell the mass market. Then my PC nestles in the corner, like a shrine to technology.

Socially stunted and nervous around the opposite sex, huh? I'm sure girls would like me, if I didn't mention my boyfriend. Girls seem to have this idea that I'm "nice". Weirdos.
I also seem to have a social life, which I'm totally separate from. I keep getting invited to places by this group who I hang out with, but that didn't last long. And I have other friends, but I keep arguing with them. Not about pointless stuff, more "stop touching each other! ahhh!" (which relates to my boyfriend and a little thing called "being hundreds of miles apart at the moment")

foam swords? nah, not really.

some gamers are a bit chunky. I'm not, but then i go running. Of course that might be cancelled out by the amount i drink. Mind you i'm not really the sterotypical gamer aside from the fact i'm not exactlly overflowing with friends

Fat - No, i'm too skinny actually

Lazy - Only when sleep is involved, (I sleep way too much) but while i'm awake i'm active

Live in a basement - Nope, and I don't know anyone who does

Foam swords and a castle??? - What????

End up embarassing myself - sometimes like everyone does, no more than everyone else.

Stereotypes suck. There's a reason they exist, but they are exagerrated and don't have any relevance to the majority of people in the group.

I'm 6'3" of skinny stick-ness, and my computer is in my room, so I guess I slap that stereotype in the face.

I love games, I play them, I make them, I talk about them. But I also play Football, I go out twice a week, my room used to be in the basement though.. But I had a lot of people round and didnt have a castle :p But that would have been amazing.

The stereotype just reminds me of the midget from benchwarmers xD

I hate clichés, there is nothing about them that makes sense.

I'm not fat, I'm a little lazy. But my house doesn't even have a basement, so it's hard to live up to that stereotype. There is no room in my house to even build a foam castle or of anything else. That and foam swords is a little over the top.

But it's still a cliché nonetheless.

I can't say I have ever talked about video games and someone jumped to the conclusion that I have a "foam castle".
Well I didn't exactly mean just gamers but more of nerds in general.

I'm pretty lazy, but do try to get out and about, my room is on the 2nd floor, i keep my fencing saber next to my desk, (mostly decoration now, but it did almost win me a tournament) and certainly not fat... I have a bit of a gut, but my 6"3 frame carries it well xD

I have a gamer friend who is essentially addicted to final fantasy. well him and his brother. the difference between them(even though they look nothing alike) my friend is engaged thin, tall, and a general fun person and does martial arts/exercising. his brother is your stereotype gamer. He goes to work but apart from that........me, well i am an outdoors type person. i prefer being outside than inside. That being said, I don't like being away from my video games.

Edit: As far as embarrassing myself, i dont get embarrassed. I embarrass everyone else on purpose. I know what makes them tick and do it. But in a fun way. As in we laugh at ourselves afterwards
