Gamers going green

Being an avid gamer, I used to spend hours slaving away on my gaming rig, A/C turned full blast, chugging aluminum cans full of beverages, stuffing my face full of empty calories from plastic bags.
A few years have gone by, and now I see a few too many natural disasters tied to global warming occurring whizzing by my ears. Then I thought to myself, maybe it's about time I go a little more green.

So, let's brainstorm, people: being gamers that we are, we are not about to let go of our electricity guzzler, electronic waste generator that we call consoles and PCs. But there must be some little sacrifices we can make to help out a bit.
Personally, I opt for using a fan instead of an A/C, switching to fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent ones, playing less games (and picking up an actual guitar and viola instead), and picking parts for my computer with a little less power consumption than before.
I know it probably will not make any difference, but something must surely be better than nothing.

Although, in retrospect:

i personally recycle a lot, i only usually ever have 2 lights on in my room, they are for my pet turtle and he needs them

i try to bike or walk if it's close enough and it's not raining or snowing, i try not to get more bags then needed when going to the store and i do other small things to try and help out when and where i can

and crap like "earth hour" just bugs me, why not use minimum lights ALL the time cause you know they'll go back to using all those lights right after, i see my neighbours doing it all the time and the whole walmart thing of "oh we do all this for the environment" but they deal almost exclusively with china

I think recently we have had a high number of really powerful volcanoes going of in, relatively, short succession. Each volcano produces more than 2-3 years worth of material in comparison to how much humans produce, some as many as 15 times what all humanity produces in a year. I'm just guessing here but those number sound right.

I work at a recycling center and turn off my computer whenever possible, don't have AC and drink water. I do what I can.

Yeah, I still don't have AC- we actually have an in ground pool in our backyard so my family doesn't feel the need for AC. Except that I'm hydrophobic, so the pool doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I'll admit it; I'm an electricity hog. I need the TV on just for background noise and my laptop is always plugged in because its battery life is low. I fall asleep to music but my iPod busted, so my iTunes has been playing as I leave my computer on all night. I suppose I could set it to shut down an hour after being idle or something and feel better about being an electricity hog, lol.

Other than that, we use natural lighting all day and at night everything is off if we're not in the room. And we recycle EVERYTHING. Seriously. If it's available to recycle, we throw it in the bin. Pizza boxes, beer bottles, mac and cheese boxes... the list goes on...

I just make sure to have my TV and xbox in one plug, and my stereo, turntable laptop power in another. When I take a break from gaming, or wan't to do the dishes, I can listen to my records without having the TV and xbox guzzling power like mad. I can also completely shut everything off. This may sound a bit annoying to constantly turn everything off. But I got my electricl bill for the whole year (that's the way it's done in my block apparently) I could se my electricity use was actually lower (!) than what the electricitycompany rated as a very low power onsumption.. saved me a lot of cash

ok here's the thing volcanoes errupt and do so for a couple days. we're doing it on a constant basis

cause you don't have large volcanoes going off all the time, there are pauses in when they errupt and the REALLY big ones blow every couple hundred thousand to million years. the last 2 big ones we know about are santorini, mentioned in the bible when the jews escaped from egypt, and krakatoa which made a sound that was heard around the world

the next big one they think will blow is yellowstone, if that goes america as we know it will no longer exist, canada won't fare that well either

While it is true that volcanoes don't go off all that often but each time they do they accelerate "global warming" (I myself thinks it is crap, and what we are seeing now is natural) way faster than anything we have done, ever since we started cleaning up our act, more specifically, since the industrial revolution.

Seriously, what's the evidence Opposing Global warming? The only thing I hear/read is

"The temperature keeps going up and down, thus a cycle" - I will agree it does go up and down, but it's a two steps forward one step back kind of deal. Here's what I mean.

So far I have seen no one who can argue against this. There must be a rebuttal of some kind. Even people I know who don't believe in global warming can't defend themselves against my argument. In short, what other evidence is there to attack the idea of global warming?

I don't worry too much. My electric bills aren't high, I recycle, and turn off the computer when I go to bed.

they know how big the magma chamber is and they know how big the previous cauldron is, hint you camp in it, so it's not an if it will blow it's a how big will it be and when.

it won't be an all out apocalypse but it definitely won't be a nice thing and probly screw us over for a long time
