Never dated a girl who was a 'gamer', current gf plays games with me every now and then and makes some jokes about the games we play, but that hardly makes her a 'gamer' or something. I don't even consider myself a gamer primarily.

I think what's important that you're able to share things each of you like, but never let them get in the way of spending time with each other. It's fun to play with your SO, though. One of my fondest memories of dating my gf right now is the first month we were dating we played Donkey Kong Country 2-Player on my old SNES- ridiculously fun.

It's good to see so many happy in love people here :) I hope all of your relationships prosper and last.
Once again I wasn't trying to start anything, it was just a random question that popped into my head, and out of curiosity I asked.

That sounds awesome :) Glad you have a happy healthy relationship.

Yeah I just game less. I don't think I could game as often and be in a relationship at the same time, doesn't seem feasible.

Congratulations :) I'm very happy for you that you found love, not just because she is a gamer girl, but because, well, it's love :)

If my husband wasn't a gamer like me, it wouldn't matter.

As long as he could accept my hobby, and chosen form of entertainment. Such as not calling it childish or giving me a hard time about it all.

His cousin is going through that right now with the lady he loves. He likes games and wants to play more of them, and she isn't fond of any technology besides the d.v.d player and the t.v. Instead of allowing him his hobbies, she gives him a quite hard time about playing games and says they are just for children. That makes their relationship difficult.

But I met, fell in love with, and married a fellow gamer geek/nerd/dork person and life is sweet. =D

Edit: We don't just play video games all the time. We do plenty of things, and with other people. Movies, trips, get-togethers,BBQs, etc, etc.^_^

My girlfriend isn't a gamer and we've been in a relationship for about 2 years now. Although nowadays she has a Wii so there's some common ground on the gaming front there, but having games in common hasn't been a necessary part of our relationship.

I married not only a non-gamer, but a game hater. The silver lining? A convert on our hands, gentlemen!

From the start she tried to limit my game-time and outright forbid me from table-top playing. I've been receptive, within bounds, and it's payed off.
You got pwned by her. =D

But, my ex girlfriend was a gamer, I used to destroy her tho in TF2 and well, every single game you could imagine.

I've only been in relationships with non-gamers. One of them was a bit of a pain since she always went with the "You'd rather play WoW than be with meeeeee!"-card.

No I can't see myself in a relationship with a non-gamer, but then I can't see myself in a relationship at all since it's such a massive waste of time and energy.

This is a silly question, and I don't mean that in a condescending way, but what I mean is that being a gamer isn't our sole defining quality. It's only one aspect of our personality, and it is only part of what makes you you. Hence, you could very well get along swimmingly with a non-gamer and completely clash with a gamer.
I've dated only one gamer, and that didn't turn out so well. My hubby is non-gamer, and well, we've gotten along just fine for the past seven years. So to answer your original question, yes I could and yes I already have, and yes I even married one.

Yeah maybe, but it still sounds like a lot of effort for sex and for some reason, feelings of happiness as my money goes down the drain. If I need it that bad I can just do it myself, and it won't cost me large sums of money and years of my life with a very slim chance that I'll get any anyway. I guess I could give it a shot, and risk a high probability of humiliation and sorrow, but then I could just play video games instead which are easily just as good, cheaper, and have less risk involved.

My current girlfriend wasn't a gamer when we first got together, after some trial and error in seeing what she was willing to try I am happy to report that as we speak she recently finished assassin's creed 2 and is in the middle of trying her hand as a GM for my Pathfinder RPG group next week

I've been with my Fiance for 5 and a half years. Inititally she wasn't keen on me playing games as much, but she started playing them with me and things started to change. It's still slow going, but she plays more games now than she used to.

When we started dating she and I mostly played N64 and Ps2 games (Soul Caliber/Tekken Ps2 and Goldeneye/Mario Party N64) and now she's playing more stuff. I got her into Diablo, she started playing DDO, and likes Dragon Age Origins, along with N64 games, Wii games (SSBB, Mario Kart, Raving Rabbits TV, just to name a few).

And she also likes DnD 3.5 (which is funny becuase I only had a small intrest, and she initally had none, but as we played we learned we both liked it)

I feel lucky :p

The girls I "dated" always used to text me at night when I played video games the most. It's the main reason I broke up with most of those girls. Well, that and because NONE of them were gamers so their wasn't a lot for us to talk about...

i dated a girl that didn't like gaming. But i feel that was mainly do to just following the social pressure. So i gave her sims, and spore and well....never saw her for a week. Addictive hobby we have.
