Actually judge games/things that are cool-to-bash fairly? But that might involve things like "Research" and "Having to have an actual argument instead of parroting shitty 10 year out-of-date facts and accusing anyone who disagrees of being a mainstream sheep!"

If you only talk about things you like, the internet will be even more elitist.
All great things weren't aimed at "people". Some of them weren't even supposed to be known by anyone except a few recipients. And it would be hard to find better examples of this statement than Monty Python itself.

Just sayin'.

I'm sure there are plenty of people on the Internet who keep quiet about stuff they don't like. You just don't notice them, because they aren't posting anything...

I'm not going to pretend I don't sometimes do it myself, but people like to be antagonistic. I try to stop myself from hating on stuff if what I'm saying doesn't have a point to it other than expressing my hate, but I'm not perfect. But I think a lot of people aren't able to manage that. They let the anger take over and can't stop themselves from letting the world know how much they hate something. But yeah, I think some people, not just gamers (maybe it's more common for us) seem to want to antagonise people who don't like something that others do. I think it's just part of the fanboy mentality, giving themselves an ego boost by declaring how terrible something is to people who they seem to think clearly need to be educated. Also I get the feeling that these kind of people have a inflated sense of how much their opinion is worth.

Because if we don't point out the flaws in games like DA2 then the developers will skip happily to the bank thinking the game they just made was peachy.

DA2's sales were heavily negatively effected by word of mouth.

That is a good thing.

I agree with this completely. However, that's not entirely what I was getting at.

I'm not saying people shouldn't critisise games. We should, and often we need to. What I am against is the people who just do not know when to let it drop. Yes, when people make jokes about CoD having not innovated very much in the 4 games they've released since 2007 they may have a point, but when these people keep shoving the same damn snide remarks down your throat every time the subject comes up, with seemingly no understanding of the concept of a joke 'getting old', I get so frustrated with their tone that I no longer care whether or not they have a point. I just want them to get out of my face. Also, when somebody uses the fact that they do not like Game A, as an excuse to act like a **** to everyone who does like Game A for no reason other than to bolster their own ego's, I don't care what valid points they may have underneath it all, they're still dicks.

It's possible you are coming across different people with the same pov who dont realise it's all been said 1000 times before. I mean how many DA2 is rubbish threads did we get on here at the time. That said, I don't think It's a good idea to let issues like the copypasta of COD drop tbh. We need to make sure that developers see and hear about the problems we have with their games. Even you as a fan recognise it's an issue. If it's just allowed to drop and they don't see it affecting their sales they won't do anything about it.

It's a different matter if someone is a complete jerk about it but then if they are they will get banned, on these forums at least.

Right, why is it so hard for the gaming community to just ignore stuff that they don't like?
If it was that easy, people would do it, but unfortunately 'bad games' and 'bad gaming concepts' effect us all. If they sell, then other companies copy the idea, and so on. It spreads like fire covering the world with mediocrity and stupid. just look at the wii. I have the wii, I like it... but the damage it has done is un-ignorable. Look what xbox and PS3 are doing now; trying to add dumb motion controls to everything. The wii's miis were also something I hated with a passion, and while you might just say 'ignore them' they then followed me onto XBL with those stupid avatars.

You might think it's ok to ignore bad trends in gaming, but doing so just means acceptance when they follow you into what you do like and ruin your experience.

Well, you do realize that this is the internet, so thus people can say whatever they want to say. So haters will show off their hate...
