If FOX news ever realized they had something in common with Obama they'd all kill themselves. So, yeah, I hope it does unite them.level250geek said:The war on video games could be the one thing that unites President Obama and Fox News.
This is what I've been thinking as well. I couldn't help but consider that the first suggestion was Grand Theft Auto because its gotten a little bit more press than, say, Gran Turismo or Project Gotham.paypuh said:This article is factually incorrect.
That little blurb of an audio clip was taken way out of context. The only game the reporter brought up was GTA, and that's because it has made numerous headlines in the recent years, not because that is what the kid was playing. The fact of the matter is WE DON'T KNOW WHAT GAME THE KID WAS PLAYING. The cops didn't elaborate. Maybe he was playing Forza or Gran Turismo. To just assume it was GTA is bad reporting, on the part of Fox, and subsequently by this website.
Let's not start losing our heads because there is some sort of vendetta against Fox. Pick and choose your battles Escapist.
What if he played Spore and The Sims?AmrasCalmacil said:You're thinking too small, what if he played Spore? He could create a vastly underwhelming universe!Smack-Ferret said:Good God man what if he played The Sims?Cpt_Oblivious said:If he learnt to drive a car from Grand Theft Auto then we should put his talents to good use. Give him Rock Band.
Technically, steps 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 are optional.HardRockSamurai said:To drive a car in real life, you have to:
-unlock the car
-open the car door
-get in the car
-close the car door
-place your feet correctly over the pedals
-put the key in the ignition
-start the car
-put on your seat belt
-switch to the correct gear
-and softly hit the acceleration pedal
To drive a car in GTA IV, you have to:
-press "Y" to get in the car
-hold "RT" to go forward
If FOX News thinks GTA IV can teach people how to drive, they are truly idiots of the highest caliber.
Easy, this isn't a religious thread. I think that the kid was just curious, and wanted to drive the car, as simple as that, with no brain that has been brain washed by video games. The media needs to find something else to blame other than video games, so why not books? They are REeeaally evil, remember that incident with Stephen King's first book RAGE? Yeah.Vault boy Eddie said:Yes, he got in the car because he saw it in a game, not because he wanted to escape the LIES in church.
I believe a title like "Fox is at it again." would be more appropriate.MaxTheReaper said:No, but he's the Captain of the Normandy, so show some fucking respect!nilcypher said:As I said, Captain Anderson is clearly not a gamer himself.
...I should go play more Mass Effect.
Anyway, this should just be named "Kid joyrides, media jumps to stupid conclusions."

They were all in church! Oh the irony.AmrasCalmacil said:Pah. He stood down. It's all mine now! Mine! To fill with Aliens as I wish!MaxTheReaper said:No, but he's the Captain of the Normandy, so show some fucking respect!nilcypher said:As I said, Captain Anderson is clearly not a gamer himself.

Now to punch that lippy admiral, critcise my ship, will he?!
Sorry. I got carried away.
This is amusing though, I can't say I've never played a game that reprisents driving so aaccurately that I could learn from it. Besides, everyone knows that if he had been playing Grand Theft Auto he'd have run over prostitutes, right?
