My original comment was about how unacceptable it is for people to be snobs about the platform they play games on. Thanks for proving my point by showing me how insufferable you can be. ^_^
Well actually I wasn't commenting on that I was commenting on your ill informed point that a PC is more expensive than a consle also since I also play on the 360 I don't see how I can be a PC snob when I play on both equally. Claiming that I am apparently insufferable for putting forward a decent lengthy argument just shows how prentious you are so no considering I play both 360 and PC more or less equally I don't really see how I can be considered a snob and would like you to elobarte instead of just making basless statments in an argument.

The only way I could be considered a snob at the moment is the fact that I am being a little overbeaing. I am not being condesending or patronising you in any way. I am also not saying that PC gaming is superior and Aryan compared to consoles. I also at never point said this to be so only that PCs can be more powerful or cheaper depending on what route you go. I already said you can play consoles only if you like but they are more expensive. So I was not refering to people being snobbish about platforms I was refering to that comment which is why I snipped that bit out.

As a massive Valve fan, I'd just like to say that militant Valve fanboyism annoys me, too!

A little?
Listen i'm sorry, alright.
But you wrote me an essay in your last comment, it seemed a little excessive.

They made this perfectly clear that it was a narrative problem, not a greed problem. I'm not sure why people haven't realized that yet. have they split any other game up into 3 sections to tell a story? I haven't seen it besides SC2. I think most people are bumsore because not everyone can play a campaign as their favorite faction. And there is no where that says they have to own WoL to play HotS or LotV, as far as I remember, they are all standalone games.

And I mean you got what 28-30 missions out of the gate, with each game adding roughly the same amount of missions AND new units for each race. And lets not even get started with the "lack of innovation". Had they changed too much and everyone would be bitching "This isn't Starcraft anymore!" and when they changed too little people complained "They didn't innovate!"

Well you can't have it both ways folks, sorry to say.

Edit: And while I'm a fan of Blizzard from playing the Diablo franchise, I don't endorse WoW, and I think providing a larger narrative to their fans that have been waiting at least 10 long years for a sequel really shouldn't complain, except they still will because they have to shell out money anyway.... which they still would have done for some other game, so really only makes you have to choose (unless you are in a good financial standing and can afford any game at anytime)

Edit 2: Oh and developers that I hate.... it's a short list, I think Bungie, but I wasn't a fan of Halo... gave it an honest try though :)
Kaez said:
Actually, I personally just resent them because I just don't care for the idea of bringing out a game in parts. Either release the whole thing or don't release anything.
So you wanted a shorter story because you don't like games being split up, I guess you shouldn't play ANYTHING with sequels in regards to the same character/location, becuase that is the same thing. Most notable entries would be Halo/God of War/Gears of War/Thief 1-3/any Mario game/Zelda game/Metroid game (Prime is actually bad for this as 2-3 introduced Dark Samus as the major antagonist)/Half-Life 1-2 and Episodes 1-2/Portal 1-2 (knowing 2 isn't out yet)/Mass Effect 1-2 and eventually 3/Diablo 1-2-3.... I think there more, but it's generally the same as splitting 1 game into 3. And you'll probably say "But they were designed to be seperate games" to which my reply would be "So is Starcraft 2.... and if you have an issue with all the games being Starcraft 2, on your disc (or if you bought a digital copy) a peice of paper, add to Starcraft 2 a .3 and call it Starcraft 2.3, 2.6, and 2.9"

For some reason, Bioware. It might've been from that week or so when reading the News forum on here and seeing a number of articles in which they were blasting other game developers, invoking an air of superiority around themselves that just makes me hate them. Haven't played any of their games just watched reviews and I gotta say, the games look dismal and boring.

Every FPS since... Duke Nukem 3D? I hate the way FPSs play nowadays. I don't want to wait for my health to regenerate, I want weapons with a decent amount of ammo, I want to carry all of the weapons I pick up and swap as necessary, the list goes on.

World of Warcraft. Just every little aspect about it annoys me to no end and yet it's a freaking behemoth. Endgame content you do once a week, Arena PvP sticks you in a tiny box with no objective besides make the other team die (significantly less thought provoking/intriguing than most of the Battlegrounds), and the absolute worst community I've ever seen. The way guilds are handled (loot distribution, recruitment), the necessary min/maxing, the lack of variety in each class's development, the way combat is done overall. Moreso, I hate the people who claim the game has a ton of content, or that the combat handles really well, that the game is too easy while simultaneously using about 30 different add-ons that essentially play the game for them. Just... gah, it has no redeeming factors whatsoever.

If you think it was excessive fair enough all I thought I did was explain my point in detail.

You're point is seen, but at the end of the day this is a matter of preference.

Can someone tell me why I don't like Bioware? I really don't know why but after being really excited for mass effect 1 I got bored with it half way through and because of it have no interest in other Bioware games. I don't hate them but I don't understand all the praise. A few negative comments one of the heads said about jrpgs kinda made me mad but other than that I don't really know why I don't like them.
Bioware had half-decent storytelling skills. Some people feel this makes up for the lackluster gameplay their games exhibit. A smaller number of people feel that placing in the Special Olympics that is video game storytelling makes them the second coming of Jesus.

Any EA sports title, and really if EA is publishing the game better have something unique to offer.
* Seconds This *

Maybe I just don't like EA because they focus on Sports titles ( not saying that's all they make )& it's not something I'm into.
I don't know I'm just not a big EA fan.

being a pc gamer. And being called elitist and a snob already earlier in this thread, i'll act as one:

i hate console gaming.

but then again pc gaming has suffered a lot as well, what happened to long, complex, difficult games with steep learning curves and loads of options???

but thats why i hate consoles, i blame them for those changes.

Some people really like the gameplay. And I personally think it's the way they balance the humor/quirkiness with the decent-ish storytelling people like, rather than the storytelling itself. HK-47 is probably one of the most liked things they've ever written.

As someone who loves his NES, I have to say that console gaming is not what killed the difficult games with steep learning curves. This probably applies to every quality you listed, but the things that killed those were technological improvements increasing the time(/money) it takes to produce a top of the line game and the casual market.

HL2 is a god-like, deep shooter with a magnificent story on the level of the finest human literature, with perfectly developed characters and incredibly fantastic gameplay.
I would agree with you if this wasnt basically true. I love halo and i basically never lamp on about halflife or valve unless its the discussion but i have to say its a good game. Valve do know what they are doing. TF2 also is a great game, best balenced multiplayer ive ever seen in my life. Its kinda shallow to hate something JUST because of others opinions on it... dont you think? Form your own opinion. Hate the hasslers not the developers, the only crime they are guilty of is making good games. They dont ask people to go on and on about it. DO hate the player. Halo reach is also an epic game. PLay halflife on the PC also. Better experience.

Anyway i dont hate any on principle. Because i make rational and fair opinions not based entirely on other peoples action but all on the skill of the developer and the quality of their games.

EA, beacause every game they release has unused potential.
Activision, for making their games simple ports for the pc.
Ubisoft, because of their crusade against pc piratism, which they only provoke by doing so.
Lionhead studios, for lying about their games (I'm talking about black and white 2 and it's multiplayer).
Crytek, Because they didn't refine their engine better. It always overheats my processor, even if I play on min settings.

Valve I sort of hate because of Steam. It has some pretty good things going for it, such as allowing me to keep in contact with mates while I'm gaming and it caters to my lazy nature by auto-updating my games for me, but at the end of the day it's still just a cleverly disguised form of DRM. What I really hate, though, is when I buy a game in a store and go to install it, only to discover that my supposedly "DRM-free" game requires Steam. Yeah, fuck off game companies, you're not fooling me with your bullshit claims about the game having no DRM.

Also, Steam has resulted in publishers shafting us Aussies even more ridiculously. Before digital distribution they could at least attempt to claim that the costs of importing the games and taxes and such raised the price. How the fuck do they justify a price difference like this when there are no costs outside of keeping a server up and running:
wow. i guess you really only do judge based on concept. because, you know, if someone throws a gold brick at you, they are an ass, because, hey, they threw a brick at you. its the same as steam. valve found a way to make DRM good, but nope, its terrible, 'cause its DRM, that means it must be bad.
As someone who had a disagreement with Steam over them charging me twice for a game, and subsequently got banned from it after my bank canceled the second charge, I have to say otherwise. The way I see it, everygame I had bought from Steam that was multi-player only was stolen from me because of their DRM.

I don't spend a lot of time hating games, seeing as most of it is spent on ones I like.

However, I don't like Harmonix, on account that they make games I like to play but suck horribly at.
