You hear people complain a lot about poorly implemented quick time events, But what about the good ones? The game that comes to my mind is Fahrenheit (Or Indigo prophesy for you yanks). Even tough the story went crackhouse crazy halfway trough the game I really enjoyed those action sequences.

The first one that comes to mind is the one in the office when all those monsters appear and you have to escape them. All you really are doing is flicking the sticks in the right direction and watch what happens, But it were still cool to see what happened.

Is there any other game out there like Fahrenheit? Except for heavy rain that is? Also do you have any examples for the worst implemented quicktimes?

Here is what I don't like about the quick time events in Fahrenheit and most other games that use this mechanic: I can't concentrate on the cool sequences that happen in the background (like Kratos ripping some freaks apart or the guy from Fahrenheit dodging bullets etc.) because I have to wait for the next button to press and I better not miss it because of sudden insta-death. So whenever a quick time events starts, I usually miss what's going on.

Anyone here remember Grabbed by the Ghoulies? It was a fun game...but the QTEs sucked the big one by having more than ten buttons to push to get out of a giant hand.

As for good, Force unleashed on the Wii was a lot of fun.

starwars:the force unleashed. they worked fine and where reasonably easy to get through, and if you fucked up it didn't instantly kill you

The new Bond game, that did them just right...
See, they frustrated me quite a bit. I would have liked to play through the majority of those sequences on my own, w/o any prompts.

Resident Evil 4. That knife fight with Krasuer was awesome. I don't know if No More Heroes counts as quick time, but maybe for the wrestling moves.

True, but when you get to the part where you do nothing but QTEs and Simon Says in Fahrenheit, you might as well NOT watch the 'background'. I lost all interest once he became some kind of Super Saiyan Hadouken-face, but still finished it to see some genuinely uninteresting ending. I was so right.

How so? As far as I remember the QTE parts came first and then came the actual action, As in that office level I spoke of, First a monster appears, then you push both sticks right, then he jumps right.

I pretty much agree with this. It was especially true in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. It wasn't just action sequences during fights, they had them during cut scenes relevant to the story, which I actually wanted to see. That just isn't right.

Given that, I'm going to say Resident Evil 4 is the only game that did it right. I might be wrong here, since it's been awhile since I last played it, but the quicktime events it had weren't there to trigger gigantic, cool looking maneuvers. For the most part, they were there for simple things, like keeping a chainsaw wielding maniac from cutting your head off.
