Them focusing on multiplayer is my exact reason why they should nto have had it. Maybe Halo 2 and 3;s stories would ahve been epic like 1's. Thats more for Halo though, My reasoining for Gears is that its glitchy as hell and also has spawned a mass of stupid fans who dont appreciate games that are actually good. Oh you must be joking. The entire story for Halo is OH TEH NOES ALIENZ WE MUST FIGHT DEM 4 AMERICUH!!!11. Gears is similar. Now, why do I not hate these games? Because even though their stories were mediocre, their online multiplayers were some of the best for consoles. It is like DoW. Sure the story is sub par, and generic, but that doesn't mean the games aren't fun and have their place.
Of course, with both being so popular, there are bound to mindless fans. Like yourself. Hell, even amazing games like CoD4 or Fallout have over-zealous douchebags. That doesn't make the game bad automatically.

I actually prefer Halo and Gears of Wars multiplayer. There fun. But hey that's your opinon and I have mine.

My choice would have to be newest Civilation game. It was a laggy,Slow, and no one would start it unless you picked random.

Not being much of a fan of multiplayer, I'm tempted to go "any of them, ever", but that'd be unfair. Onwards:

GTA IV. The way the weapons work aren't geared for the kind of firefights you get in multiplayer- they're geared for the slightly more methodical and coreographed fights in singleplayer.

Although i disagree about your opinion on the value of multiplayer (70% of the games i buy are for this), i completely agree with your opinion on GTAIV online. It's just filled with annoying 13 year olds with no life and even less vocal development. Weapons are pathetic, and sniper rifles along with a good few assault rifles and even sub machine guns are rendered worthless past 100 feet(ish). This is particularly infuriating when you see that the sniper rifles have Mil-Dot !!!!!!!!!RANGE ESTIMATING SCOPES!!!!!!!! Like seriously, what the F*CK. You can target people a quarter-mile away and enjoy the pleasure of not even hitting the person who walks through your line of sight 200 feet away.

Well Gears 2 has fixed a lot of problems (Even added bots in to replace rage quitters. There not the best players but it's a step in the right direction.) People are always gonna try to exploit glitches.It ain't right but that a fact of life.

Gears and Halo were MADE from their multiplayers.

Halo and Gears were not made for multiplayer besides maybe Halo3 at a push. To an extent they are multiplayer but in no way made for multiplayer as especially there system of weapons ie weapon pick ups is dated and should be done away for modern multiplayer shooters unless it is made like an old style shooter which they will never be as people can't seem to play unless their health regenerates or they have a ready healing item at their disposal(well I say this in most cases there are excepts where games you don't regenerate neither do you have handy healing items).

That is questionable. Halo 2's story mode was over very quickly. Halo 1's would have been over quickly as well if the maps weren't shit. ALso, I think your thought derailed halfway through because you lost me.

Halo 2's story was not over quickly atleast compared to Halo3 and Halo 1's was fine and maps were 2 were a bit long but thats liveable.
Basically what I was saying is half way through is that Halo and Gears have a dated way of doing multiplayer as the way forward is you spawn with the weapons rather than a rat run to the best weapons.

So in a way it is like say Quake but you regenerate your health if you catch my drift which is good but by far inferior to say Battlefield or Call of Duty's multiplayer style of weapons as in you spawn with what weapon you want rather than have people camping weapons.

I never said you are not allowed to do it, but that it is not something I look fondly on. I can't speak for others though. Bioshock 2's MP looks bad, but on the good side, it's being done by another studio. Yes, there's two studios working on the game, 2K Marin's doing the single player and Digital Extremes are doing the multiplayer.

Gears of War 2 was glitchy as hell.
Versus Mode in RE5 sucked and didn't fit into the game.
Lost Planet 2 multiplayer was boring and didn't bring anyting special, though that's largely due to the gameplay.
Vampire Rain didn't need it, and it was unbalanced

The question is simple. Have you ever played a game with multiplayer but shouldn't have? Either the multiplayer is terrible, or the game itself doesn't suit itself for multiplayer.

My choice would have to be Lost Planet, as the single-player was bad enough, and having extra people fighting didn't help much.

I'm not too sure. Any of the Tony Hawk games, multiplayer is reserved for parties, hence split-screen. Online just didn't see right. Mind you, it was my first online game on console.

Didn't one of the Metroid games have multiplayer? It seems kind of random for a game like that too have multiplayer. I mean the enemies in the game can survive multiple rockets and armoured transport ship blasts. Sounds very slow paced to me...

I've never played Gears online, but I have heard that online is glitchy.

But Halo's multiplayer is probably the best I've seen, only because of the custom matches and lack of glitches/dropped games.

The average maturity level of a Halo player (in my experience) hasn't been very high. Maybe it was because I only played it right after it came out, but I haven't really been wowed by the community as I have been with other games like Left 4 Dead and TF2.

Although the fact that there's less players and a higher responsibility in L4D means that people who like to fuck around and not get blamed don't play it. Again, it might be just my own dumb luck.

That said, I do enjoy playing multiplayer on Halo 3 when I'm with friends. Solo, I hate it.
