Phantasy Star IV was the one for me. Allis's death early in the game was shocking, maybe it was due to my age but I felt very attached to the character.

That was a big turning point for me. I guess I had seen game characters die before, but the visual presentation gave it an enlarged sense of gravitas. Suddenly the world seemed a much darker place.

Heavy Rain made me cry more than once, and L.A. Noire brought me damn-close to tears, while at the same time filling me with rage. I am a big emotionally soft sissy=pants I suppose. I cry about fictional things a lot though, not just games. ;A;

kana little sister definitely. lots of sadness there. All endings are extremely saddening but surprising Ending 1, the true ending is to me and many others fans of the game the most saddening and depressing of them all.
