So I was playing Halo Reach and found the game to only be so so until I found the jetpack. Then I started enjoying myself.

Similarly, I was playing Red Faction Guerilla, and felt the same way until jetpack.

So, where else should we insert jetpacks?

Mass effect might be helped by jet packs, not that it needs help though.

*Imagines biotic attacks from the air* *drouls*

My thinking is this:

Consider a game.
Does this game contain jetpacks? No? Then GET SOME JETPACKS IN THAT SHIT.

Pretty simple.

Hal- Wait...
DarkVoi- No...
LittleBigPlan- No again...

OT: Games with a heavy emphasis on exploration, and sandbox games would benefit from them, but only if they fit with the game itself, and don't break the game by just letting you fly up to the boss and punch him in the face.

This is why I came here.

The list of games that need jetpacks can be summarised as follows:
Every game that doesn't have jetpacks,
Games that don't have very much jetpacks (They have some but they need more, so they still need jetpacks).

Actual suggestion, open world city exploration type games, [PROTOTYPE], Spiderman, etc.

I didn't find the jetpack in Reach to be particularly beneficial or fun to use. Yay I can go up in the air slowly and become an incredibly obvious and vulnerable target!

Jetpacks should be in exploration games in wich a jetpack would seem natural.

Gears of War would be amazing with jet packs. Aerial torque bow FTW.

Seriously, putting a jet pack in gears of war might actually get me to buy the next one, if you know, they resolve their god awful matchmaking, lag, and host advantage.

Actually, they shouldn't bother, I know they won't resolve any of those things, and a jet pack would only get my hopes up.
A Jetpack wouldn't really work with Gears of War though. It's supposed to be a seriously cover-based game; jetpacks would make a totally new game, like Dark Void. In fact, I think a spiritual successor to Dark Void is needed, of course with a better setting, characters, plot, etc.

I am currently unable to think of any game that would not benefit from the addition of jetpacks. If I do, I'll update this (don't hold your breath).

Ha, that's what you think.

A jetpack would work perfectly with gears of war, they just need the change the level design a little bit to accommodate for it. Why use those stairs when I could FLY to the balcony?!

Think about how many new routes it could open up for flanking, it would be perfect for those kinds of cover based shooters because there would be more attack routes, and fewer places that people could be cheap camping whores. It's perfect.
... but then you're just making a totally new game. Gears is based around cover combat; you're supposed to stick to the ground and move strategically through cover, not ramboing up to someone from the air.

Yeah, because Alex Mercer doesn't have enough ways of getting around the city as it is.

He can already kick helicopters out of the sky, what possible use could he have for a jetpack?

Sounds like someone's never actually played a match of Gears.

Shotgun rolling on the ground anyone?
Sounds like someone loves Gears but has no idea why it's good.
It's intended (and pulls of) being a cover based game. Mobility is important in that you need to advance to the next piece of cover. Adding a jetpack into that mix would either make the jetpack a useless gimmick, or turn the game into a totally different game, more like Halo or something.
