FFX-2 - Do we really need (mostly) awesome characters going the way of Britney Spears? I honestly can't understand what Square was thinking here. The whole outfit-power system was idiocy.
Yes, it was shit, but I can kind of explain some of it. Square was nearly bankrupt after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within bombed, and they needed cash to survive, so they made their next game a sequel to FFX so that they could re-use most of the character and enemy models, the setting, and a lot of other things to save on money. I actually have heard from some that the power-outfit system could actually be fun - when the game wasn't making you do tons of ridiculous minigames. Essentially, the battle system strikes me as a Barbie-doll-ified version of FFV's system.

The rest of that game's gibbering insanity? I got nothing.

Modern Warfare 3. Why, because they've released nearly identical games since the original modern warfare. I liked CoD 4, but when all your doing is adding a tact on story and updating the graphics and online does not a game make. As a very very very(just infer infinity here)sarcastic Australian guy said "It isn't a good game unless the single player can stand on it's own." Though the story does have some spectacles to watch till your eyes bleed, but let me ask you this CoD people, how often do you think about the story the game is built on while you go around quick scoping? Take this as a troll speech or anything else, but really should this have lasted this long.

I'll put it otherwise, I wouldn't want them gone just for the developers not to look at them as the pinnacle of innovation, because they are not.

- Halo (introducing the new wave of crippled shooters, or if you prefer the politically correct "accessible")
- CoD (pushing the crippled shooters to new disabled heights)
- GoW (QTE till your anus bleeds, thanks guys, we always wanted those in every game)
- ME (crippling the RPG gameplay, and the rest of the world goes: "We don't need complexity in RPG's anymore? Woohoo, yearly stamp outs here we come!")

F.E.A.R 2

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE STORY!?? The ending was so horrible I was ready to snap the game disc in half. What, the mute character with a camera for a head (Player character, can't even remember his name) casually got up from that chair and walked off? Presumably to start up a college fund for his kid now that he's a proud parent.

Seriously, Monolith needs to be wacked over the head with a rolling pin for that travesty of a game.

Not precisely. I'm against taking ten plus years to make a cash cow game and then it sell atrociously well because fans are fans. Shovelware is easy to spot and avoid and naturally gets removed by the more discerning gamer and when it doesn't make money it goes away. Blizzard get to do the same thing, sell it as new, and make oodles of money. It's like a scam. It's hard to fight the shovelware gag reflex when it's got ten years of hype behind it.
Would you prefer if they released a Diablo every year then? Since people are still buying CoD...

Drawn to life 2. And the E.T. I heard the developers buried their E.T. games in cement after they found out how shitty it was
They made twice as many cartridges for the game than the console that ran it. Some IDIOT must have though that EVERYBODY who had the Atari 2600 would buy it TWICE. *SIGH...*

The one Yahtzee line of thinking that's hanging in this thread like a nasty shit that makes no sense to me is that a great game had others try to copy it therefore it is now bad.

I'd be amazed if I'm the first one to say this, but E.T. The Extraterrestrial for the Atari 2600. Yeah, some games that people have listed kinda suck, but this game was a major contributing factor to the video game crash and the potential demise of video games completely.

Dude, don't be that guy. Because no matter how good my point is, you're not going to be swayed. Ten bucks says you've got half a reply formulated to whatever you think I'm going to say. Just let people *****.
Even if I don't agree, I might still find it an interesting argument. For now, I am just curious.
Fine. Ever since the original Diablo came out Blizzard peaked on that series at 2. Now in this day and age you'll inhabit a lifeless meaningless avatar to depopulate the world of it's cuddly hideous fauna over and over again in a game that feels more like an MMO than anything else. That was great for 2001. Now, they're going to render Diablo 3 in 3D add a few classes finally let people chose their sex (if I remember correctly) but underneath the tweak-like updates it'll still be Diablo and nothing will have changed... and they will make a fortune. It's a good business model, minimum work for maximum profit, but when I think about it I feel a little more hollow inside.
I've played Diablo II almost every day for the last 10 years and loved every second of it. I WANT more Diablo...and they've put alot of work into DIII.

Now, if you applied that argument to WoW...I'd cheerfully agree. But as is...I must take your skull for Khorne.

I believe that unless I have been ninja'd, I have won the thread.
You know, declaring victory is like giving yourself a high five.

I'd say Dragon Age 2.
I actually liked the game, the reson it shouldn't have been made is that people would shut the frack up about it in every chance they get.

I hope i`m the first person to say CoD
Thank you.

But really, I just hate any CoD after Modern Warfare. I'll admit, it was a good game because it was original and still good. Then they overmilked it, and now we're at Modern Warfare 3. All the other Call of Duty's had a point because they actually had real history in them, but MW has completely lost that argument. It's just generic shooter number 2 now.
It's a generic shooter NOW because every other military shooter's gotta dick-ride it.

But in '07...man, that game was AWESOME. Couldn't pass a dorm room with out hearing, "50,000 people used to live in this city..."

I do not know what you "have went through" please explain?

Note: Mods this is a serious question and not an attempt at trolling, I am honestly curious if he has had a bad experience with the game
i have no idea what your talking about i may have miss spoke.

but this has gotten off topic we are here to list games that should have never been made not judge people for their opion
There's a difference between judging someone for their opinion, and asking them to explain their opinion. I for one having not played Galaxy 2 and reading Artanis' replies, want to know what makes you think it was so bad.

OT: Game definitely could have done without would be Titans Quest. Even with a few mods, it was just so monotonous. Tried playing through it a few times, never got more then 3 or 4 hours in. Just became painful uugh

Pretty much this.
The dresses system wasn't bad at all actually but as long as you did most sidequests you would be strong enough to kill anything by just spamming attack as any class, making the whole system unnecessary.
It was the derp cutscenes and chapter system that ruined it. And above all the truckload of annoying minigames.

I'm going to have to say Rapelay and indeed all the other distrubing Japanese porno style games that romanticise, glorify and sexualize increasingly perverse acts of violence against women.
In a world where we blame the victims of sexual assault on the clothes they wear, how have games like this managed to keep slipping past without notice?

That said, I don't know what's worse... the fact that there wasn't a huge public feminist outcry against them, or that whenever women DID object to them they were met with the standard 'shut up you feminazi' response.
