Yes, it was shit, but I can kind of explain some of it. Square was nearly bankrupt after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within bombed, and they needed cash to survive, so they made their next game a sequel to FFX so that they could re-use most of the character and enemy models, the setting, and a lot of other things to save on money. I actually have heard from some that the power-outfit system could actually be fun - when the game wasn't making you do tons of ridiculous minigames.
