I wasn't going to bother an argument. What point I was trying to make was that, in a sum, the rushed game that is Melee is better comparable to an unrushed Brawl, which leaves it as a backwards delusion.
A backwards delusion? I don't get what you mean by that. All I know is saying that Melee was rushed and Brawl wasn't, in defense of Brawl is a really weak point.
What point I am trying to make is that, usually longer developed games tend to far better than shorter developed ones, for obvious reasons. But we all know that's not always usually the case. (see Duke Nukem Forever)

Delusion was probably not the best word to describe that situation. Apologies.

And I'm not defending Brawl. I think Melee is much better than Brawl as well. I was just making a statement about the development time of each game, its changes, its outcome and reaction by players.
Sorry, being stupid assuming over the internet again. Just don't quote me saying 'Brawl is a good game' and you'll see I'm pretty stable. :p

I gotta say that I knew they took their time with Brawl since I was waiting about 3 years for it to come to Australia. It was the longest wait and biggest disappointment in my life so far. Even though I hate Brawl, there are some things in it I reckon are great like the Smash Ball idea (even though the moves need more work), the stage editor, how you collect the trophies, the sticker stats, the big ass boss fights (which also could improved a whole heap more), multiplayer events and the music. So I can understand why there are many fans of Brawl but I still think it should be erased and start over or at least redone.

You asked me "what does that tell you?" about the outcome of both Melee and Brawl in different circumstances, and I think it's because of the new system they got around the Wii and how they tapped into the casual market. I remember one of the lead designers saying that he thought Melee was too difficult, and from somewhere else I heard they didn't want to inspire big tournaments with any betting in it so that could explain the nerfing and other crap.
It's all good.

Possibly the best thing I like about Brawl is the music soundtrack. It's terrific. Some of the other features though could have had more work.

I believe Sakurai said once awhile ago that he really does not like competitiveness (I don't know if in general or in games) and he saw how much Melee had grown to be a competition tournament game (MLG, etc). I guess with this, the opinion of other producers, combined with the Wii's central focus on casuals, kinda of led to an inevitable big change in the game compared to other Smash games before. But we probably never noticed because of just the sheer excitement of another Smash game coming out haha.

Ah well. Maybe things will be better for the 4th one coming up.

I finished the bloody game, don't worry. All I'm saying is, they could've add more then sights, weapon mods or selecting what would your companions do in combat.
Wow you ignore massive amounts of my post and then complain that the reason it should be a DLC is because it added a few gameplay mechanics? Did you ever think for a second that many people played New Vegas for its story, characters and political aspects?

Your comment makes no sense, they did add more than "sights, weapon mods or selecting what would your companions do in combat."

They added hundreds of new characters, new locations, a completely new setting never before visited, new major factions, it had its own DLC which added very unique character and location, completely new weapons and so many things that calling New Vegas a "DLC" is just misguided.
Ok don't kill me. Sorry, but I just hoped for more then gambling and a new map.

None, there isn't a single game out there that shouldn't exist. Every game advances the medium in some way or another, even if it's just something to point at and say "See that? Don't do that." Not liking a game doesn't mean it shouldn't exist and all a game has to do is entertain ONE person and its purpose is fulfilled.

Seriously, when did the Escapist become a breeding ground for such "intellectual" snobbery?
The point of the thread, as I said in the OP, is to state what game you personally wish didn't exist, be it for ruining a favourite franchise or introducing something that is regarded as actually 'awful.' This isn't an intellectual debate about why or why not games should have been created. A free right to rant, as it were.

So, feel free to tell us your particular hates.

C&C4, the only Game in the entire franchise I don't own. I feel betrayed, Red alert 1 was one of the first video games I ever played.
Yeah, pretty much this. Including starting out on C&C: Red Alert.

Turning C&C 4 into a watered down Dawn of War with an exceedingly obnoxious unlock system in terms of gameplay, a soap opera so campy and boring that it defied belief in terms of story, and then slapping an annoyingly restrictive DRM on it for good measure, was simply a massive blow to the series, which I doubt it'll ever recover from.

Also the first Two Worlds game, that one was just too clumsy in all areas to warrant seeing release.

What its just any games i hated? coz i have alot of hate for games( not games in general im just very picky, ifthe games intro doesnt make me want to play more, i wont, end of)

Games i dislike and wish never robbed of my money

Final Fantasy XIII, do i really need a reason? linear corridors and too simplistic battlesystem.
Mass Effect 2, i just feel it didnt live up to the first game and has made me not want to even try the third.
James Cameron's Avatar, he should stick to films, the game was poor.
Prototype, alot of hype about alot of nothing IMHO, will never put that disc near my xbox again.
Supreme Commander, great game but takes waaaaaayyyyyyyy too long for each battle, so i regretably didn have the patience to play it any more.
Tom clancy's HAWX, i just couldnt get on with the game, i should have known better as i didnt like ace combat 6 either but i listened to my mates who reckon its amazing.
Battlefield bad company, just plain bore :/
OF Dragons rising: biggest waste of money yet, dam white flowers show as humans in heat vision, and poor gameplay to boot, plus i was told it was nonlinear and kinda like fallout 3, i was horribly lied to.
Sacred 2 fallen angel, couldnt get on with poor camera angles, odd gameplay and no tutorial, they just expected me to know everything from the go, no story, no explanation of controls, just wake up in a pub and go. NO
Im getting fed up of reasons for the games i dont like so il just list the rest and if anyone asks for why i dislike one of these games il tell you
GTA IV
Assassins Creed 1&2(didnt bother with brotherhood)
Stree fighter 4
Viking
Timeshift
COD:WAW
Lost oddesy
Stormrise
Stranglehold
Bionic commando
too human
bioshock
Tom clancy's endwar
Infinite undiscovery
Two worlds
Dead rising
DW gundam
Ace combat 6
Tony hawk project 8
Brutal legend
Risen
Terminator salvation
And finally WET!

I have to agree on both counts. ESPECIALLY the second one. One time I read one guy's post about how the God of War games were created for the "lowest common denominator". So basically, anyone who likes a certain game you don't like is stupid. Great logic there.

I agree also, but again - that is not the point of this thread. This is for your own personal lamentation about a game that was created that you wish wasn't, or thought was an all-round bad idea - not for any intellectual or trolling reasons, as stated in the OP.

OT: I want to also add Tomb Raider: Underworld to the list. I'm a big fan of the series and wanted to see more people accepting it in modern gaming, and this installment did the exact opposite. I'm very glad about the new direction the series is taking, and if all goes well, Lara will be back on her throne as Queen of Games.

I'm surprised no one's yet mentioned Metroid: Other M. What, are all of the other Wii owners still asleep?
oh god you are right. metroid other m was just a travesty. i fear it'll be years until i buy the next metroid that comes out.(unless the reviews are favorable. and its not made by misogynists.)
I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw another Prime game in the first couple of years of Wii U's existence. The head of Retro has said that he wouldn't hesitate if Nintendo offered, and no one knows what they're up to right now.

The real shame is that some of the story was compelling, and I'd like to see a sequel, if only one that retconned much of Other M's sorry excuse for a story. Finding out that some of the higher ups within the holy Federation are genetically engineering these things for weapons? Potential! Zero suit potential! Stealth elements potential!
I thought Metroid Other M came before Metroid Fusion so it already has a sequel

And I honestly can't thing of any game actually bad enough to not exist, maybe Knight in the Nightmare that was a bad game, maybe even FF13 but the gameplay was okay so i don't see a point in complaining.
Nitpickery. Just because a game boy advance game exists doesn't mean there won't (or shouldn't) be any more Metroid games.
I wasn't saying their should be no more Metroid games I was just saying Other M already had a sequel and as long as it's not made by team ninja I could care less

Well, although it's not out yet, Fable: The Journey. That shit should not, under any circumstances, ever be released.
Fable III was bad enough, but then they go and make the next one into an on-rails Kinect shooter?

*sigh*

Fuck you Lionhead, and fuck you Peter Molyneux.

Some games are just... Bad. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't exist, as if the industry learns from them then that's good.
While I do agree to some point, did games like FFX-2 really teach anything? Other than to leave alone a story that worked for its seriousness and sadness, instead of making a cheesy, happy fan-service spin-off.

Taught me to try on different dresses haha

Duke Nukem Forever because it wasn't worth the wait, Final Fantasy VII, Minecraft & recent Sonic games so their shitty fanbases wouldn't exist, Alien vs Predator 2010 because it was disappointing, Rogue Warrior because it licked balls and the Half-Life 2 episodes becausse I just want Half-Life 3 for Christ's sake.

I wish Duke Nukem Forever didn't exist. It's just depressingly bad, and I think if it took so long to develop, it should have stayed that way.
My expectations weren't that high to begin with. The protracted development process and constant delays were a big warning sign that DNF was going to be mediocre at best. I never actually played any duke nukem games, but I was hoping that it would be a great fps which would challenge the popularity of Modern Warfare and its clones. In the end I didn't buy it. Such hype, all for a bargain bin generic fps with recycled toilet humour.

I liked some elements of Final Fantasy XIII, but there were some serious flaws with the gameplay, plot, and pacing which make me regret its existence. Though those seem trivial compared to FFXIV. A horrendously buggy, tacked-on, poorly executed, and overall third-class MMO which has probably killed the franchise.

I agree. Duke Nukem is a relatively different series from more mainstream FPSs, but then this may have been its downfall - they tried to make it something everyone is used to, and that would appeal to the more younger and modern audience.

I also completely despise toilet humour. I watched a gameplay video on YT for the first 10 minutes, and the second it began I hated it.
