Games That Suprised You (For Better Or Worse)

I tend to somehow avoid most of the rabid fanlove so when a game is truly great I am pleasantly surprised.

I don't typically play games where I have to try and aim with one analog stick and then try and shoot and run all at the same time but I'm actually enjoying it. I think I might start trying shooters again......outside of PC gaming that is.....

My expectations were reasonably posative

and it blew them out the water! in every single way...pure gaming extacy!

I was but a young, naive mini-gamer who judged the game on its title. Then I played it to find an immersive, humorous, fun RPG game that was unique and enjoyable. I'll never judge a game by the title again....unless it's something like "Hello Kitty's Cooking" or "Brokeback Mountain, the game", Those would obviously suck

I came into it expecting to be worth my 2$

and I wanted my money back when I saw the introductory cutscene.

So why is he holding his two handed sword over his head and waving it like a little kid pretending to be in a sword fight?

That weird stance is

They do it in kendo, too. The gratuitous backflips, on the other hand, have no excuse

Ah. I still swear that its the dumbest looking combat stance ever.

And he waves back and forth with it like he's doing a luau. I know, not all martial arts moves/stances look super graceful, but couldn't they have chosen a slightly less....dorky looking one for our main hero?

With regards to the Witcher I found that Geralt's Silver Sword styles looked significantly cooler and more lore friendly. I tended to attribute his clunkyness with the Steel sword as being a monster hunter and preferring using the silver (I never read the novels/short stories so I don't know which sword Geralt used more)
