I guess I have to go with Final Fantasy XIII. I know it got pretty good reviews, but a lot of people hated it.

NieR. I loved it to death, it's one of my favorite games.
Never played this, but having read up on it I see Laura Bailey plays a foul-mouthed hermaphrodite.

Should I get the PS3 version or the 360 version? Are there any differences?

They're both the same technically, but the D-Pad is used to hotkey items and weapons, so I suggest the PS3 version, if only for that.

That game looked really interesting but I have heard nothing about it whatever. I played a demo of that and a demo of Divinity 2 and remember one being far better: I just don't remember which. I haven't played any other Gothic before that one either >.>

Fist of the North Star. Granted, that one is made specifically for fans of the series. It's basically Dynasty Warriors: Linear edition but I am blinded to it's faults because of the Fist of the North Star theme. Unlike other Dynasty Warrior games (because Fist of the North Star SI a Dynasty Warriors game) it's excessively violent (like the show) and features my favorite characters as player characters (specifically Rei).

On the other side of this coin: Stacking. That game is getting really good reviews and I liked it but it's very easy and, very short. I finished it, getting 100%, in a single play-through which is unprecedented. It's not a bad game. It was funny and I loved the presentation but it was like ordering a pound of shrimp and being presented with 4. Sure they're delicious but it's done far too soon and leaves you wanting more.

Same here. I played through that game three times and enjoyed myself immensely. I also had a lot of fun with 007 Bloodstone.

I really enjoyed Nier, it wasn't perfect but it was better than anything Final Fantasy related that Square have made in recent memory.

Alright, thanks for the info.

Everyone hated Final Fantasy 13. I started playing it last week and I fail to see why.
This game immediately came to mind when I read the OP. After I bought FFXIII on something of a whim, I noticed that most people were very disappointed, and worried that perhaps I had made a poor purchase. Nope. I thoroughly enjoyed that game.

I don't think I played any really poorly received games last year. I didn't do that on purpose either. I was a little more cautious with my purchases.

I didn't get a chance to play Deadly Premonition though, which I really want to because I love Twin Peaks, and everyone who's played the game said that if I love Twin Peaks, I'd love Deadly Premonition.

I loved the demo for Dante's Inferno, but never got around to playing the game. Does that count?

Oh, without a doubt, Deadly Premonition. I believe it got a 68 metascore, but it is one of my favorite games. I highly suggest everyone picking it up. It's so damn cheap too.
Looks interesting, I think I'll rent it. Reminds me of Condemned....you know, the good one.

Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light, it was hated by a lot of people for being too old school and repetitive which is what I like about it.

Actually, the game looks really interesting to me. I may get it when the price goes down a bit. Is there any feature that sticks out about it?

Now this is a warning: The game controls are pretty horrendous, it's a rip-off of Twin Peaks, and the graphics are comparable to early Dreamcast. That being said, the game is hilarious and very off (in a good way). You'll be laughing at it while wondering if you're actually laughing with it. Even the music is funny and off, while at times drowning out conversation and other times cutting short. The games is so over-the-top wacky that about half way in, you'll be so immersed and it will shine like the brightest star. Also, VERY KEY: Don't feel rushed. You have between certain times to do missions, but you can just do them any day between those times.
