This may have been done before, but I searched and couldn't find it.

First ever topic:

I want to know, has anyone been inspired by a video game to do something? Something big, or small.

I've always been interested in Parkour. I just like the idea of continuous movement.
But I was always too lazy to try and find anything.

And then I bought Mirror's Edge. Beat the game in two days, start replaying it. Played it again without runner vision.

But I still wanted more. So I started doing some research, and found there was quite a strong Parkour community around where I live. So I joined their forum, and am going to begin taking classes next year.

Leave your story?

While playing WindWaker I used to find the sea sailing rather inspiring, even more so when the sun used to set...
I thought that was always completly awesome!

Left 4 Dead has inspired me in that now I don't believe everyone on XBL is a complete idiot. I haven't even heard the N word in a week!

Four panicky humans on expert does reinstate some faith in the gamer community. Sharing, co-operation, crying softly.

I felt that too, i'd often sail out into the middle of nowhere, stop my ship, and just stare at the stars.
And oblivion, just in front of frostcrag spire. I stood there and looked down over Bruma. That was awe-inspiring.

I like to kick ass with GoW, then go and kick the ass of a cycling machine.

TEF inspires me to do art. And when I get inspired, I go on lunch break-length art rampages. Now, I just need a game that will inspire me to finish [http://i36.tinypic.com/33nz0j8.jpg] digital art.

I thought you did parkour by going outside and doing lots of running and jumping, you know not so much doing classes...

Classes are advised to both learn the techniques used and to develop the physical capacity to do such techniques. If you don't take the classes, it is likely that you'll end up like the guy in Queensland who tried to jump a 3m gap off a rooftop, without being trained for it. Surprisingly enough, he ended up in hospital.

Some of the scenery (and people) can be pretty inspiring in WoW, the moon and the stars and the sky, y'know.

Games I love on the SNES, N64 and Gamecube inspired me to try to make games myself. I wanna make a bunch strange characters like Nintendo has that are likable.

Bioshock taught me that sticking random needles in my arms can give me super powers!
In seriousness, KOTOR inspired me to try other RPGS, a genre that I then hated.

I'm fairly sure the whole reason I started doing martial arts is either Street Fighter II or Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One of the two.
