Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Left 4 dead 1 and 2 and Castle Crashers when it was dirt cheap. I'd mention Bioshock, but that was free. So Colon-D smiley face. I plan to buy Oblivion again this summer.

Witcher 2 is the only game I've bought twice. I bought it again when they released the enhanced edition. I had lost the cd for the original game. Bought it on steam the second time around. No more cd's for me!

I bought Super Smash Bros twice (the original) and I somehow lost my copy of Metroid fusion so it became a number 1 priority to buy another copy, though I found it under a couch cushion later. I also bought fallout 3 twice, the second time was the game of the year with all the dlc and I bought New Vegas twice, once for ps3 and then later for pc with the dlc. I plan on buying Spec Ops: the Line a second time. I bought it on Steam for $15 so I could try it and now I want a ps3 copy partly for the sake having a physical copy to preserve and because I'd prefer it on a console

Planning on buying XCOM:EU and F:NV (both Xbox) on Steam for the mods. I enjoy them both so much it'll totally be worth it.

Certain Atari 2600/Arcade level games multiple times for DS, Cube, N64 (Pacman, Galaxia, etc.).
Got Ultima III for NES although I'd already beaten it on Commodore 64.
Gamecube came with Zelda 1 & 2, which I beat on NES, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask from N64 which I owned.
My Xbox 360 died so I repurchased for PS3 COD MW2 and Enslaved. My copy of Uncharted 2 was stolen, so I'll buy that ASAP. I beat it but want it for my collection. I'm a completest. I have 1 and 3 also.
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are in a PS3 collection. Got it even though I already have Colossus for PS2.
I sold GTA 4 for PS3. I thought it meh. Then Steam had a sale cheap that included Liberty City Stories, so I got it. I look forward to playing with MODS.
I have Saints Row the Third for PS3. I bought it from Steam with all sorts of extras for only $12. It was worth it!
Friend gave me PC version of Oblivion even though I'd played it on 360. I prefer Skyrim.

When my first xbox red ringed and was off for repair, I bought Mass Effect 1 for PC to tide me over. I also recently bought Rollercoaster Tycoon again on gog.com because I couldn't find my original disk and it was on sale.

The one I know i've bought twice is Castlevania Lords of Shadow. I beat the game once, had no use for it, then traded it in. I had no idea there was DLC so I bought it again for the DLC, and ended up playing it twice the way through to play the DLC.

Looking at this thread, the strategy of making people re-buy the same product over and over has been a resounding and astounding success.

No wonder we get so few new releases and see rehashes of the same content over and over, since we're buying the old stuff as is anyhow!

That really pinpoints the reason why sales are such an awful metric in the game industry-- much as it is in music. Many dollars, pitiful marketplace.

Knights of the Old Republic I & II when they released the new collection edition, Anachronox to get away from CD switching once it released on GoG, Deus Ex for convenience when it was on a steam sale and that's about it.

Oblivion.
I already had it on 360, but I wanted mods.
Well, Fable, in a way.
Since Lost Chapters in mostly Fable all over again.
Some games that might have been in multiple humble bundles.

Oblivion, Skyrim, Okami, Crysis, various titles on Steam (though mainly for convenience and sales as opposed to necessity)
Skyrim I bought two copies of before launch. I'm a bad person. That said, I was still pretty angry when NEITHER came on the day.

Every Bethesda game after Daggerfall, minus Skyrim.
Morrowind: Bought it, it died, bought another copy.
Oblivion: Bought it, realized getting GOTY edition would be cheaper than getting expansions piecemeal, bought GOTY.
Fallout 3: Bought it, realized getting GOTY edition would be cheaper than getting expansions piecemeal, bashed myself on the head for falling twice on the same mistake, bought GOTY.
Skyrim: Bought once, am now waiting for the realization that GOTY will be cheaper than getting expansions piecemeal.

Also, I think I've bought about 5 copies of the original Mass Effect. This game is pretty unlucky for me, I've managed to destroy the disk in every way from it melting due to nearby objects catching fire (really) to my dog eating it to simply scratching it.

Batman Arkham City. Didn't realize I had to upgrade to XP service pack 3 to play it, so I bought another copy having decided my first didn't work. Boy did I feel stupid that day.

Looking through my game collection, and for whatever strange, strange reason, I seem to own two copies of the first Harry Potter movie tie-in game. I have no idea what those are doing there. I don't think I've ever played either, and I don't recall buying them.

Heroes of Might and Magic III

First time on release.

Second time with both expansions (cheaper than buying them seperatly)

Third time to get the DVD version.

Forth time to get another DVD version to keep at my parents home in case I get bored (also my little sister loves it)

Fifth time on GOG.com (good old Games) so I no longer even need a disc (my laptop has no CD drive).

It is one of the best games I have ever played, and I have spent countless hours playing it, alone and with friends and family. Higly recomend!

Techiniacally I have only bought these games once but I own two of them.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. My dad already owned it on pc, however I bought it on my ps3, not knowing that I there was already an Oblivion in the house.

Fallout New Vegas: I got it for Christmas for my ps3 and loved it. Then I thought, how much better would this be with mods. Then I bought it for pc.

Dark Project 2 : The Metal Age (or better known as Thief 2)
One I bought myself, the other was a present from someone who didn't know I already had it...

Blood Omen II
Bought it for the PS2, but then found a website called thelostworlds.net which looks into development "secrets", cut content and hidden content for the Legacy of Kain series. It got me intrigued, but you need the PC version to use hacks and modded savegames to unlock that stuff. It was just a few bucks.

Pathologic
Bought the English version first, despite English not being my maternal language... I really love this game, but the translation from Russian makes Google Translate look flawless. The game is mind challenging, complicated, cryptic and full of text, so it doesn't help when every sentence is filled with godawful grammar, cryptic phrasings and wrong information. For instance, one of your characters repeadetly insists she's immune to the disease. So I went hugging infected.
Fortunately, the German version has none of that, and it's laughably cheap.

Devil May Cry 3
One for PC and one for PS2. Even with a Playstation controller, the PC port is not recommendable, though it looks sharper.

Fallout 3: Broken Steel (Xbox and PC)
Stupidly clicked around on amazon, didn't notice I was ordering the Xbox-version... Ripped open the plastic foil at home, admired the green "radioactive" case, then raged. You need Fallout 3 for it, it's opened, it's German (and may be censored and not switchable), and if you wanted it, why the hell would you play FO3 on Xbox (no mods)? Refunding is not worth the hassle, if even possible, and nobody would buy it.

I bought Perfect Dark twice, once on N64, once on Xbox live. Bought Oblivion twice. Seriously considering buying the HD of Age of Empires 2, since the graphics of the first are all wonky on my PC and I love that game.[small]I know this is easily fixed, but it's inconvenient to end windows explorer and leave TM open every time I want to play AoE.[/small]

Well, I was a PC gamer, til my PC slowly shat itself and died despite my best efforts. Then I moved to a 360, so had to get a few old games for that. I now also have a Mac, so I've been slowly re-acquiring some of my old favourites whenever they become available. Some of the more notable are:

KotOR thrice (twice for PC, once for Mac),
KotOR II twice (once for PC, didn't work so I got the xbox version and play it on my 360).
Rome: Total War thrice (twice on PC, once for Mac)
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 twice (once for PC, once for 360).
Age of Mythology twice (both for PC, but I'm now looking at getting the Mac version).
Civ IV twice (once for PC, once for Mac)
