Oh hell. One I've been hunting for is an old DOS platforming game, I remember playing it on a Win95 machine back in 95/96.
I don't really remember many of the details because I've not played or seen it since, but you were some sort of spaceman, fooling around in red caves, collecting all sorts of items and shooting (IIRC) various robots/aliens. There was also music to this game, which I can only describe as 'experimental'; it wasn't the usual sort of MIDI tunes we were used to, it was very sparse and almost seemed to be made up of random sound effects with pitch-bending.
Yeah, that sounds incredibly vague and generic. Sorry.
One thing I do remember vividly was what happened when you were killed; your head spontaneously disappeared, with a few wisps of smoke rising from the neck of your spacesuit or whatever the hell the guy's outfit was.
If anyone can tell me what game this is, I'd appreciate it.
