Legaia 2 for the PS2. It was plenty of fun and I went in for multiple playthroughs..... until I beat it once and then never played it again.

Legaia 2 was a great game, they should make more of them, but just didn't have as great a setting as the first.

I swear I'm the only one who plays and enjoys Speed Racer on the PS2 (Or Wii, I guess). For a movie licensed title, it's got a fair bit to it. Decently enjoyable gameplay too. Can't complain much about that! (Though there is some to complain about though. It's not a bad game, though. 6-7 out of 10 worthy for sure)

A ton of people will sing the praises of Psychonauts but another game that came out around that same time but was somehow given even less attention was a platformer called Voodoo Vince.

I've talked about Otogi and its sequel and that series is one of the Xbox exclusives that do seem to have a small following but NOBODY else seems to have played Voodoo Vince. Vince is a voodoo doll who has come to life and who must save his creator from a neck-beard. The game is made up of clever platforming, imaginative boss fights, a couple of semi-fun vehicle sections, items to collect etc. This is about as Rare as you can get without having your game made by Rare. The big gimmick for this game is a focus on combat and the ability to use screen-clearing Voodoo attacks. They're randomized outside of boss fights but they're still pretty cool little animations. The game is packed full of some pretty good humor as well. It wasn't all dark humor but remember, this game came out when Invader Zim ruled the Earth and it was impossible to escape the awesomeness that was dark humor. Sadly, this is only on the original Xbox and if you own a working one than you're actually in luck since it's inexpensive. It may be available on the Xbox Live store but I have no idea how well it might run. If you have a chance to play it, definitely do so. If you can't, it looks like someone did a lets play of it. It was fairly well received, Game Informer was the nicest to it giving it an 8.5/10, and Gamespy gave it a 3/5...on Metacritic it's sitting at a 73% so use that information however you chose in assessing its worth.
I loved voodoo vince. I still have it laying around somewhere.
Halo, Voodoo Vince, and SW: Battlefront were basically my childhood. I didn't expect much of it when I first saw it but a friend convinced me to give it a go and it reminds me of a darker version of something like Rayman. I'll second giving Voodoo Vince a go.

Another game I have never seen anybody play or talk about is Brute Force. Great game, in my opinion it was way ahead of its time. I might add a picture later but I'm in a hurry. You should check it out though.

The first is Rascal for the Playstation. It was a pretty good looking platformer (for its time at least.) But the camera sucked and the controls were bad. You used a bubble gun as your weapon. The levels looked cool at least.
Yeeeep, still have the box and everything. Didn't get very far because of the aforementioned reasons and there are much, much better platformers for the Playstation: Spyro, Crash, etc.

My answer is this:

A brick-breaker with all of the animu with characters named after birthstones for some reason. I honestly can't tell you the difference between the character because, well, brick-breaking is brick-breaking. It was pretty fun since you won by screwing over you opponent (AI or local 2P) via sending bricks over to their side.

I wish I could dig around my PS1 collection some more to see if there are any other games that need mentioning but they're not at my uni digs. So, I'll list what I can remember (though I don't really expect them to be that obscure): Amerzone, Bug Riders (awful), Colony Wars, Creatures, Silent Bomber, and Skullmonkeys.

There was this one game on the PS2 called "Scaler" that I played years ago. It was all right, but I got stuck on one level and never beat it. I think I might still have it lying around somewhere, I should see about finishing it one of these days.
I loved Scaler back in the day. Nowadays its a decent platformer that has a neat transforming mechanic.

Jaunt(Help(),Spark()).

If you understand that, then you're one of the few people who've played that amazing game. A game about democracy, permanence, transience, the road to Hell, and the desire to be recognized. A game I love to pieces, despite wanting to flay the devs for creating the Fetch 3.0.

Seriously. Eight of ten people I mention this game to just go "Buh?"

Not many people may have played this. "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory"

Almost all of my experience with the Wolfenstein franchise comes from that game. I spent hundreds of hours playing it with friends. It was a multiplayer only, objective based game. A good time even against bots. Unfortunately, the multiplayer is pretty much dead, and has been for a long time.

(I did rather enjoy that map that let you build your base. So much fun, no bots allowed either.)

Obviously there are others that have played these games but I have never seen anyone else mention them on here.

Of Orcs and Men on xbox 360.
Not the best game in the world, the combat system is something of a love/hate relationship and is what will win over/push away first time players. but there is just something about the world that has been created that I really found interesting.

I have no mouth and I must scream.
I've been playing a lot of point and click lately and this has been a favourite.
based on the short story and including the author voicing the main antagonist, I have found this game to be a good challenge.
the plot consists of a military supercomputer (allied master computer) becoming self aware and decides it hates humanity for making it highly intelligent yet unable move or act on free will, basically it is the equivalent of a paraplegic.
It renames itself AM from allied master computer as in 'I think therefore I AM' and kills every human on earth bar five people that it has kept alive and tortured for 109 years.
The game can be challenging and I enjoyed learning the back story to the survivors. I haven't finished with the 'good' ending yet though.

Gods will be watching.
another point and click adventure. The plot follows the story of two soldiers working undercover to infiltrate a terrorist organisation. I love the old style pixelated graphics and they help add to the shock when some rather brutal things happen, such as in the first scene when you may have to shoot escaping hostages or execute them.

my favourite part of the game was perhaps the torture episode after being captured, you have to hold out for so many days before being rescued whilst juggling your health and trying to not give up too much information to your torturers.
The game is very challenging and you will die a lot.

Does anyone recognise this game?

It was one of my favourites growing up, and I still enjoy playing it, but nobody else ever seems to have heard of it.

I actually still own all 3 of those games, Evil Zone was the first game my daughter managed to beat (aged 18 months)

For my answer I would say revenant, a game that was so poorly managed in its release that the guy in the shop tried to convince me that it A) wasn't out yet and then B) was actually canceled followed by C) the game was never made in the first place. Needless to say I went elsewhere and picked it up, it was a great diablo-style dungeon crawler

The Wario Land games. I don?t know anyone of my peer group who played these games when they were younger, and I much less hear about them in terms of great platforming games. Granted, they are Game Boy games, but even fucking Super Mario Land gets more spotlight on lists of ?greatest Game Boy games of all-time? for seemingly the sole purpose that it was the first Mario game on the Game Boy (because, in all honesty, it was a terrible game only saved by its short play-length).

Max Payne and Max Payne 2. Never seems to come up when I hear my friends talking about great shooter games: it?s always stuff like Call of Duty, Halo, or Gears of War. Only until Max Payne 3 came out did I hear anyone talk about it, and most of these people didn?t seem to have played the previous games on the PS2. I have no idea why, because it was a slick film noir title and even ?Bullet-Time? seems to have found some of its way into Rockstar?s later games, like Red Dead Redemption.

As for other games?maybe some of those shitty EyeToy games for the PS2. But even I barely remember what those were about.

When it comes to talking about The Elder Scrolls, my favourite all time series, everyone talks about either a) Skyrim b) Online c) Morrowind or even d) Arena or Daggerfall. No love for Oblivion?
I remember my friends talking about Oblivion all the time...until Skyrim came out and they just started talking all about that. It's the same thing with the early Call of Duty games, or the first two Grand Theft Auto games (which my best friend derides as "crap"). The later sequels just eclipsed them in terms of exposure and popularity.

Swashbucklers: Blue vs Grey

A decent, albeit a little low-budget, Pirates! clone set during the Civil War, with some steampunk vibes in it, like gatling guns mounted on the ships, or multitude of steam engine types you could add to your ship for a speed boost during naval battles. Had tons of fun with this game.

I can think of one game in particular... But, I think past me says it better than I could:

Virtua Quest: Yes, it's a spin-off of Virtua Fighter... No, I'm not making this up... Yes, I did LP this game TWICE; one on the GameCube and the other on the PS2... No, it's just THAT mediocre of a game, which is why not that many people actually know about it... No, I have no idea how many times I have mentioned this game on this forums...
Past me also mentioned Odama, if I'm not mistaken, but we both know that somseone on this site has played it before...

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown a Bulgarian strategy game :) I thought it was fun a long time ago when I used to play it. It is basically unheard of however.

I played IHNMAIMS when it arrived on gog.com and I liked it. I'd known about it for a very long time before that but I didn't read the story until after the intial production run had ended(thus finding a copy of the game was nearly impossible). I'm very glad that gog.com managed to find it and put it back on sale.

I've seen Gods will be watching and I was curious about but I hadn't seen any real reviews telling me if it was worth picking up. I might go ahead and grab it because it does sound interesting.
