Well, I liked Mirror's Edge. And Psychonauts.

Don't look at me like that. I loved Psychonauts. Just, the only people I've shown it to, hated it.

The freaks.
Is it possible to hate Psychonautss? Its so fun and funny, it has almost everything you want in a game.

Bioshock 2 and Dante's Inferno. Loved them both to bits.

Bioshock 2 had a more emotionally involving story, in my opinion. It didn't carry the same weight as Bioshock 1's story did but I still was very immersed and got choked up at parts. Also, the combat is much better and I had more fun with it than Bioshock 1. Bioshock 1 was supposed to be scary and it was, Bioshock 2 was supposed to be fun and it was. It did everything I wanted it to. Based on its own merits, the game is great.

Dante's Inferno was a great, but flawed, game. I actually liked the game more than the only God of War game I played: Chains of Olympus. I felt that the games were so similar I could only judge them based on story and characters and environments, and that is where Dante's Inferno excels to no end. The story and dialouge is lovely, the characters are interesting and a bit gruesome, and the environments are sickeningly great. One can tell that a lot of love went into the game; I just wish people didn't compare it to God of War so much and just looked at the game itself.

What?

I actually liked these two games. I mean, you've got to give game makers credit for making a game about demon slaying where, instead of a creepy soundtrack, you have what could possibly be the most awesome thing you've heard all year, or for making a game basically spinning off another popular game, but without all that annoying WAIT YOUR TURN, MAGGOT business that RPGs usually shove in your face.

Dirge of Cerberus - yes, I am a shameless Vincent fangirl, plus it actually made me ENJOY playing a shooter.
Champions of Norrath and Champions: Return to Arms - I don't know why people dislike these games, but they were kind of the first console RPGs I ever got into and I fell in love with them.
Diablo II and Lord of Destruction - I dunno what it is with this series either; but, apparently, it's a very polarizing game. People either love it or hate it. In my case, I grew up on it, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked - A lot of people who like the anime really didn't like this game for whatever reason...but seeing a guy breakdance a bunch of sentient monkeys to death is sometimes my cup of tea.

Worms, my friends hate it.

Although my friends are also the ones who disable the random items (Aka the glorious chaotic fun) from super smash bros. So I guess I play with people who care more about winning than they do about having a good time.

YEAH! I get the same thing all the time. People have a hate on for Kane and Lynch, and I really don't understand why. I thoroughly enjoyed that game. Also Army of Two, I hear nothing but bad things about that game, but I absolutely love playing it.

I thought Mirrors edge was rather fun...
Anyway, I thought GTA 4 was excellent, even though people lamblasted it for being "boring" and having a "bad storyline" - which I thought was utter tripe, the story was great and just driving around is very fun.

The Monster Hunter games, we MH fans can somehow look past a steep learning curve, bad camera controls, annoying load times, terrible hit boxes, and repetitive grindy gameplay, and still enjoy this series.

Fable 2, every one I know hates it. I personally love the game and have played it through 3 times. I can see it has faults, mainly in the cliché plot twist, Hammer, disappointing ending, but the humour and the style of the game are what I liked. Plus the dog was a really amazing idea!

grand theft auto IV I lovrd th game yet loads of people say it's shit
I think alot of people were expecting a "wacky shoot 'em up piece of balls to the wall fantastic ridiculous." Instead they got a gritty somewhat slower game, result assumed the game was bad. Recently though I went back and gave it another playthrough and enjoyed alot more, I think that's because of the mindset I had going in

OP: The closest thing I have is Oblivion, I know alot of people like this game I also know it has alot of flaws. I've had alot of my friends tell me how shithouse it is but I've still spent days on end in front of it

Too Human was a decent game. Terrible combat, but overall, an ok game and not a waste of money.

Shattered Horizon... Nobody I know liked it all that much, but something about killing people while literally floating in space was appealing.

Not like it matters anymore... the game has about 7 players on it at any given time.

I'm a big monster hunter fan, and I didn't really see the steep learning curve. Its just that the game is unforgiving. If you fail to bring enough healing items? You die. Wrong element? You die. Timed a whetstone wrong? You die. This is a game best played in a group, me and my friend spent roughly 1000 hours playing ad hoc. It also probably got alot of hate because the latter stages of the game didn't really make you feel that powerful. When you start out in crappy armor, you could take maybe one hit from a rathalos before dying. Later, when you're clad in your best possible armor, you still pretty much die in one hit from the G class equivalent. But now you have the skills and the knowledge to track it and lay successful traps (And hopefully a buddy with lifepowder on standby :) ). It's the constant thrill of knowing that it could still completely rip you to shreds even at this stage if you screw up that keeps the game exciting. It legitimately feels like you're hunting a dangerous creature every time: no matter what fancy armour you had, YOU were still a squishy human and it was still a ticked off wyvern/giant crab/ bloody great dragon the size of a mountain. When I finally packed it in (After defeating Ukanlos solo natch), I added together my 3 save's total time (Over MHF, MHF2 and MHU, I didn't count my MH save cause I couldn't import), and it was about 1400 Hours. And to be honest, they were probably the best hours I ever had playing any game in my whole life. It didn't feel like a waste. Say what you like about that, cause I honestly couldn't care less.

I loved Drakengard in my teens, but I haven't really played it in years. I can see why people hate it. The voice acting was average to hilariously awful. The combat that pretty much can be summed up as "mash square and press triangle every once in a while but for the love of god don't press circle, oh yeah and if you can ride a dragon and die after getting hit by six arrows." I thought the setting and weapons were pretty neat. The writing wasn't stellar, but I still liked the story.
Another was Rule of Rose, but I think it's more of a guilty pleasure. Yeah, the combat system is total crap and it's not even that scary, but for some reason for the time I played it I loved it. I really need to pick it up again.

gotta say it, this game has the most RETARDED AI* I've ever seen in a game pretty much since I started gaming, but still, it was Halo 3 MP or Call of Duty 4 MW way before Halo 3 was Halo 3 and CoD4 was CoD4.... then I got GoldenEye 007 and it's glorious multiplayer, only matched by Perfect Dark (aka, GoldenEye 007: tits edition and Conker's Bad Fur Day)
*most retarded functional AI in a game, it's not the same Gears of War retarded than Xmen NES retarded (look it up, god it's frustrating)

quoted in the name of truth, Bioshock 2's concept was pretty much completely different, since in Bioshock 1 you're hanging out and you dont know shit about Rapture and you're just a puny lil' human, while in Bioshock 2 you're a big daddy and you already know Rapture (pretty much), so mystery wasnt a the focus anymore, but the quest for the sister was

that's why I think the ending of event of that game is so damn fitting, delta has no true enemies, so it makes sense that it is just a l4d-ish finale thing =P
