Assassin's Creed. I did every single side quest and I only got bored around the last assassination. Of course this was the PC version, so it was supposed to be less repetitive. And the technology of that game is stunning. A lot of bad design choices, but I had a lot of fun with it. It was, perhaps, overhyped, but it satisfied my expectations.

I also liked the combat in Assassin's Creed, which everyone else seems to hate.

To a lesser extent, Crysis. Crysis was awesome, are we clear? All right? All right.

Final Fantasy, all of them. Everyone seems to have a beef with at least one game from the series, like FFVIII, FFx and FFXII
indeed

FFVIII - gets slated, but it's probably one of my favourites of the series
does this include X-2?

moving on, i freaking love Bioshock (and before i get hordes of people saying "me too!") - but my mates hate it. they're more into the Baldur's Gate style RPG and Perfect Dark...

Okage: Shadow King
Somebody besides me played Okage AND loved it? I thought I was the only one.
Hell yeah! I've actually played it three or four times knowing full well that, sans a few side quests, nothing at all is different and STILL enjoyed it. It was at the top of my favorite game list before I played Curse of Monkey Island. (>^.^)>

Deus Ex 2.

The first Deus Ex overdid it with the RPG elements. The inventory was a big time-waster. The zero-to-hero experience-based power-up mechanics didn't fit the narrative too well. The original's overall story is better (though it meanders a bit much), but 2 makes the actual gameplay significantly more fun.

The conspiracy stuff in DE2 got a bit excessive. The game did, however, manage to actually give you an ending where the different factions present convincing arguments for their philosophies.

Metal Gear Acid on the psp. Lots of people were really dissapointed that it was a card-based game but it was really stylish!

Return to Castle Wolfenstein: 2004's biggest ego shooter that suffered at the hands of a critical backlash in 2005. I still loved it though; it was genuinely scary at times, the guns had a great 'feel' and the melding of traditional WW2 shooting with zombies and Nazi occultism was to me a genius move.

Prey: the best Doom 3 engined game available, easily. Just so so weird and wonderful, plus picking it up for £3 (about $6) was a useful bargain.

War of the Monsters. Alot of time was spent on that game and it filled so many childhood fantasies, enjoyed it so much my screen name is that of one of the monsters, that back-flipping japanese one.

The Punisher game for xbox, I like the comics and the kills were so imaginative, nuff' said.
that game was fun.. weilding deal M16's and bashing thugs trough all sorts of stuff just for some point and info.. it's badass.

I like lot of the old disney games, like lion king, Tarzan, Hercules and Cold shadow. fun simple games and I like disney anyway
I still don't know why kill.switch is so overshadowed. It's the game that spawned the dynamic cover system. And for the first effort and the concept(you play the character that controls the character onscreen which is a weird concept but I like it)it's an OK and fun game.

Though definitely not original if you count all the Nazis-vs.-Vampire series.

Final Fantasy 2. To this day I still go WTF!!?!? every time people rag on it. Seriously it was a great game, its stat system was so innovative and advanced for its time but people hate it. I mean come on.
Yeah. I think the biggest problem that people have with it is that though you can manipulate stats, making well-rounded characters is usually detremental. THat, and Pandemonium is Really hard. Too hard for me in the original version. =P

To contrast you further, I have to say that I liked FF1&2: Dawn of Souls for the GBA. Sure, it was easy, but it was fun. It was fun to go through a fifty-level dungeon thrice. I got to level 96 before I realised that I was nearly at the cap.
Same thing for the FF2 version on it. I have a 1337 Maria with nearly maxed stats... I can't say the same for Guy and Frionol (SP?), though. They never broke 100 on their HP. I've made a new file and am grinding to get Minwu to max holy spells.

(And is it coincidence that on my uber-Maria, I accidentally trained only in white magic? Ultima was white magic in this version, so... =P)

Oh man, I thought I was the only one in the world who ever played 'Okage: Shadow King' and loved it. I wish they would make a sequel.

What I liked about it was that it had a great personality, and actually could pull off the art style they were going for.
Psychonauts had a neat art style, but the limitations of the PS2 made the characters look a little too sickly and not enough like the concept art.
