I've never stopped playing a game because it was hard.

Honestly, that's more exciting for me; it gives more of a sense of accomplishment at each step of the game, instead of just when you complete it.

However, I do know of a game with a pretty steep learning curve: Star Wolves.

I got killed in the tutorial.

Original Kingdom Hearts anyone?
WHUUAAAAT???
Have you ever tried getting past ANYTHING in it?

Seriously it's impossible
You mean like how I managed to beat every cup on every mode? Well...minus Sephiroth. Or, how I was able to get to level 100. OR, even how I managed to craft the Ultima Weapon for every character and acquire every gummy block and build a SERIOUSLY! kick-ass ship.

Just like me but I also did Sephiroth.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3. I managed to clobber my way through to the third level (on the second easiest difficulty) and gave up.

I'm actually kinda supprised no1 has said eve online yet. Tho i havent actually stopped playing it cause of its learning curve, they did seem to just plain deliberately make it as hard as possible, the UI and certain gameplay aspects could have been more straight forward.

Personally, I love games with a hard learning curve -- it gets rid of a lot of the riff-raff. If you play MMOs or online-based games and you're sick of hearing from juvenile players, finding a game with a tough learning curve is one good way to weed them out.
In the case of eve I've more or less found this to just have made them more arrogant, obviously not every1 in the game is like that but there does seem to be a decent amount. Though I have only been playing for a week or so

Dead Rising. It's the thing that makes me go 'Kaaaaaahn!!!' all the time.

And Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1. I don't know what I did wrong, but even after training my guys for hours and hours I still got my butt kicked over a specific map.

Nexus: The Jupiter incident springs to mind.

I would love to get into it, it's just really not that easy =[

Well, thats not so much the learning curve for me, more the poor quality of the game itself. Or rather, the fact they switched your role from 'interstellar Emperor' to 'interstellar accountant'. MOO2 was alot better and easier to learn.

Devil May Cry 3, my god that was hard, or maybe I shouldn't have tried to play it at 2am, that seems to effect that brain to hand thing...

No game has ever really made me stop playing because it was too difficult, besides the mods like the Mario mods and "I wanna be the guy".

Games are generally too "casual" nowadays and will try to appeal to a wider audience by making something as easy and straight forward as possible. Which is a shame really, I would've loved for certain games to have been more difficult and challenging, and not so watered down for the sake of consumer friendliness.

I tried to play Team Fortress 2, but because I was so new to it, I kept getting owned instantly, so I basically gave up
No so much the learning curve, as much as everyone else had a head start

Dead Rising for sure. I played through it once just to see the credits, I didn't do the missions, I didn't fight any bosses, hell I didn't even go near the park with the convicts. I don't understand how my brother could do EVERYTHING in the game (maybe he's Jesus I dunno... He's beaten Abe's Exodus with all of the Mudokons rescued too).

Assassin's Creed too. Couldn't figure out the controls, didn't care enough to try.

To everyone who said Dead Rising, it becomes quite easy once you learn where things are. Pick up the blade book from the book shop in Wonderland Plaza. Trust me, it helps a lot.

On topic, I don't think I've ever quit a game because of a learning curve. I tend to stick things out 'till they're finished/I'm bored of them.

Eve online because the learning curve looks like...

I never really found EVE hard, everything wich is not explained in the good tutorial is well...logical. I found myself ferrying cargo and shooting pirates within a good half an hour after starting the game, it's easy if you ask me.

Anyway, I quitted Dwarven Fortress. Tried it once, I know it's awesome, but those textual graphics just confuse me too much. I also stopped playing Soul Calibur 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2, too. many. damned. COMBO'S!!!

I was thinking of playing Eve Online, but after seeing that graph I think I'll give it a miss :)

Download a tile pack, you'll still quit after a few hours though.

Stupid dorfs.
