I refuse to play dragon age 2 because the core gameplay of the first was terrible. Good voice acting, good graphics and good story do not make a good game to my mind, just a good looking turd.

Mass effect 3 because the second was so much worse than the first. I hate it when sequels are dumbed down for no good reason. The first had tons of choice, the second far less.

Fifa because when i play my mate and score he throws a tantrum and quits, then insists we play again until he can win.

Kinect because it adds nothing to the games genre but novelty and expense.

Anything Zynga or anything Ubisoft. Other than that, I'm easy.

Anything made by Blizzard. I hate the company, I hate what it stands for, and I hate that they're so bloody successful for doing abso-fugging-lutely nothing.

Blizzard is that jerk you grew up with in school. He never did his homework, always bullied people, and was just a downright lazy and rotten person while you worked your ass off to get good grades so you could get a good life. And then the other person won a $200,000,000 lottery. He did nothing but will always be better than you.

Call of Duty, purely the multiplayer component, because I'm not a fan of the lone wolf style of gameplay.

RTS's, because they require very quick thinking and planning, rather than twitch reflexes or very slow planning focusing on exploiting an enemy based upon a rock/paper/scissors method of type balance which I'm better with.

SRPG's/TRPG's, because I suck at chess and chess in RPG format with more rules and complexity is not my cup of tea. Plus, I hate how many turns it can take to get some action going...

Driving Sims, because when I'm playing a racing game, I wanna put the pedal to the floor and fucking DRIVE LIKE A MADMAN.

Tycoon games that lack a 'sandbox' mode and keep players from unlocking everything from the get go. I didn't buy the game for my 'gaming' needs, I bought it for my creative outlet needs. Luckily the RCT series seemed to grasp this as time went on... Here's hopes RCT:3DS will be good.

Cover-Shooters, I don't mean FPS with Cover Capabilities like Deus Ex
I mean full-fledged chest-high wallers, I'm not doubting some can be fun, but overall they make me doze, so I refuse to play and buy them.

the majority of anything that could potentially creep me out (most games), the vast majority (all of them) of games that are on consoles and pretty much only play RPGs and RTS genre games...which aren't too creepy IMO. For example (ass creed 2 spoiler),
All the stuff in Ass creed 2 about the dark and shady stuff happening with the pieces of eden was on the verge of creeping me out

I refuse to play most MMOs since I find them to be full of damn annoying grinding. I am also afraid I may fall into their trap and become addicted.
Ditto.

It may only be a mobile game but I also refuse to play Angry birds! im sick of seeing that over hyped mediocre flash-game-esque pile of steaming poo at the number 1 spot on the app store since the begining of time.
And yes I am in IOS games development - and yes I am bitter! XD

Lasty I refuse to play C&C4 since Ive loved every other game in the C&C universe over the past decade and a half, so I dont want to depart from it with a bad taste in my mouth.

Not a game but I refuse to play a game on PC. Graphics better, eh. Gameplay better, no. At least not for me. Oh, if it were real I would refuse to play Slavery the Game just like I would refuse to play Rapelay.

There are few games I flat out refuse to play since I don't rally see the point of limiting myself in what I "can" play". There are however a great amount of games I have no interest in playing. ^^

That said, I have not touched a God of War-game since finishing the second. I loved the gameplay, but the story and character direction for Kratos left such a bad taste I lost all interest in playing any of the other games.

Graphics better is a fact, gameplay better is in many games also a fact. If you like controller: plug a controller into the pc. :p

For me, I refuse to toch FF X again. Worst "game" I ever played. Also I don't play any FPS with health regeneration.
Better graphics if your computer is up for it. I grew up in a time when a 2 year old pc couldn't handle a newer game and I didn't have the cash to upgrade as I was 14 or so. And I like playing on my big tv and not stare at a tiny screen. I dislike PC gaming in general and the PC gaming fans don't help.

Pretty much any RTS. In every one I've ever played, I get one or two levels in and hit a brick wall. I just can't get my mind into the right strategic mindframe to be any good at them.

Tons of choice? How? Frankly, neither games hard hardly any choice at all, and while BioWare shouldn't have just ripped out the elements of the first game that didn't work instead of fixing them, there's hardly any more choice in the first game, unless you count "+3% assault rifle damage" or such other nonsense in the leveling mechanics.

The PC version of Team Fortress 2. I refuse to play a game entirely devoted to trading hats. No matter how fancy the hats look.

Most RPGs that have the inability to rename a character, yes I know its a dumb excuse but for this reason alone its hard for me to "feel" for the character now made worse for the fact that giving him a personality that feels "Out of Character" to his preset one will likely get me flamed to hell just because I gave said character a trait that deconstructs the harem anime genre...hell, even if I can (Xenoblade) I still feel like the character is free to express the emotions I want said character to emote.

Imagine a harem anime with a paranoid psycho like "Eliphas the Inheritor" as the protagonist, wherein resting on his shoulder, cuddling him, hugging him voluntarily, and anything that involves touching would lead to either a loss of arms, a traumatizing head injury, or a sentence that is related to "Stay my hand again, and you may lose yours"..

ANYWAY, Also HALO...not for the game itself, but for the retarded fanbase giving it the popularity it DOESN'T deserve but hey, maybe the next Halo would be the same...besides, Bungie is so filthy rich that they doesn't afraid of anything when it comes to making more of the same shit...(yes, I said "Doesn't afraid of anything" on purpose)

ditto for Call of Duty, or any other stupid WW2 FPS that's in the trend nowadays...

also, I agree with the Statement above...AND MORE!!

For whatever reason, explain why!

The only game I flat out refuse to play is Company of Heroes.

In my opinion, it's a crippled mess of an RTS. In any other RTS, you should be able to take early risks and scout your opponent to get some idea of what they might be planning. Not in this one! Company of Heroes is a guessing game. The game is decided in the first 5 minutes of play.

Here's a rundown of the average game:

You guess what your opponent might be planning based on the zero information available to you.

You wait 4 freaking years before you have enough supply to build a man with a pea shooter.

You inevitably have built a man with the wrong kind of pea shooter and he gets killed in two seconds flat.

You wait another 4 years to get enough supply to build a man with the right pea shooter.

Your opponent now controls the whole map and you have no supply.

Game over.

The whole game is a horrendous insult to the RTS genre. Imagine if in Starcraft or C&C you were only allowed to build 1 unit every 2 minutes regardless of how much supply you have. So if you make the wrong opening move you lose. No question. Then you have crap like units that resupply in the field meaning you build the squad once and from then on they are essentially invincible since they regenerate units. Is that how WW2 worked? Regenerating units??? I must have missed some important stuff in history class!

There's also the 100% historically accurate scenario where a squad of 3 men with a missile launcher can destroy a 20 ton tank in seconds flat while the tank fires fragmentation rounds from it's huge ass cannon at them, which explode at their feet and yet somehow cause no damage.

It's a monumental piece of crap, and I refuse to play it.

So what do you refuse to play, and why?

:3
okay here is how I read this rant:

1. I don't know how to play this game so therefore it must be shit.

2. I'm going to complain about historical accuracy in an arcade-y and lighthearted game.
(seriously if you want a realistic ww2 rts go play men of war not COH)

I would be happy to discuss with you why COH is not a 'crippled mess' or a 'monumental piece of crap' but I doubt there would be much point.

OT: The newer call of dutys because I don't like the type of player they breed.
Also BF3 because of EA and their shenanigans, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it.

There are specific games that don't suit me, so I don't buy or play them, but the only games I avoid on principle right now are those published by EA, Ubisoft, and Activision Blizzard. I don't like their anti-competitive, drm, and dlc policies and practices.
