For me it would be the Fallout series, I'm pretty sure if I started playing one I would enjoy it but something has stopped me whenever I've considered buying it or borrowing it from my mate.

:O! I was going him a favour. Growlith is awesome! But the pokemon game never captured my attention. They were far to repetitive for my taste. And the combat is not very immersive. I can't enjoy MMO's either because of the same reasons.

God of War (and any subsequent knockoffs). I can't really think of a legitimate reason not to like it, I just don't.

definitely WoW and almost any MMO. I love the concept, I tried it, but just not my cup of tea. I love my RPG games because of the single player campaign.

Dwarf Fortress

I like the idea, I think it's cool and I can see why those who play it love it.

However, I took one look at the interface and ran for the hills. Besides, I'm not into ASCII graphics. I need my pictures.

Still think it's a neat game though.
Dwarf Fortress is amazing and very satisfying; it's just that to get the amazing and satisfying, you have to get used to an interface that's less like a game and more like a jump jet's control panel.

I played it for a little while and really enjoyed it as long as I had step-by-step instructions for anything I wanted to do. :p basically, you can do two things:

A. Download the Lazy Newb Pack, which has built-in graphics tilesets.
B. Follow the getting-started portion of the DF Wiki, and using the WIki for anything else you might be wondering about.

That should take you far enough to experience what the game's like and how to play. Give it a shot, it's very mind-opening in terms of how far games can go with procedural generation.

A lot of Indie games im not sure why I generally dont play them maybe because my time is being split to much and I have too many other games to play already but I am aware how much time it takes to craft a game let alone a good one so hats off to them especially when it pushes the medium in new directions more mainstream titles wouldnt dare to try.

Any RTS game ever made. I've tried some of them, I wasn't so bad at them, but it just didn't grab me. I know plenty of people that love them, but I can just never get into them.

Street Fighter, Blazblue, Soul Calibur etc Any really competitive fighting game. I absolutely love watching the gameplay but I don't play them because I am terrible at fighting games. Apart from Smash Bros but that plays a damn lot different to any other games in the genre.

Also any RTS games, stuff like DoW and SC2. I absolutely hate playing the games, but dear god watching people who are good is amazing.

And, knowingly ninja'd but whatever, Dwarf Fortress. The stories that come out of it are just crazy and hilarious and it seems like something that once your in would be just unparalleled. However I really cannot be bothered to get into it at all.

Let's take out my list here; WoW, any RTS considered good by RTS fans, the Silent Hill 1 & 2 (they're probably brilliant, but I just don't enjoy playing/ watching something that frightens me), good JRPGs (not including any FF games post VI), the first two Fallout games (in my opinion the perspective and combat hasn't aged very well), Crysis (I'll never get to play them on the PC I'll be using for the next... long time) and every Wii game ever.

Well, there's two categories in this: games I respect but won't play, and games I respect and can't play.

In the first category there's minecraft, as I don't really have the patience for that.

In the second category you've got console-only games, and almost all PC games released this year. It has something to do with a pc in dire need of upgrade.

Minecraft. I can see why people like it, but it just feels pointless to me. There really isn't anything I want to build and the game lacks focus or direction. Again, I see why people love it and I like watching videos of insane constructs that some players make, but it's just not for me...

Most decent strategy games, Civilization, C&C, etc. Not my bag, but they're generally well made, interesting, challenging and made for the PC.

The Uncharted series. I didn't hate the games, but as I was playing them it just felt like I was playing a movie. Also Gears of War, which I don't particularly like for reasons that I haven't quite been able to pinpoint.

The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games (although I occasionally play 3), World of Warcraft, DC Universe Online, and pretty much any MMORPG or RPG.

It takes incredible patience to excel at those games.

Realistic games are not my thing. Fallout is just too depressing and I'm not thrilled with the usual brown environments of war games. FPS shooters are really detailed now, but it just doesn't change the fact that I find the perspective disorienting as hell.
The only FPS I'd make an exception for is some of the zombie maps from Call of Duty. Specifically Numa, Keno, Ascension, and especially Shangri La. I'm no good at them and usually get killed pretty quickly but I'm content to spectate while my partner Spirit works his way up too the 20th round or so.
And if it wasn't for the dialogue between the characters, I doubt I'd be so enamored with it either. I just have a distinct weakness for the plot device of people who hate one another being forced to work together. RichstofenXDempsey ;D

Pretty much all of Valve's multiplayer games, like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead. Online shooters just aren't my thing, but if I were to start playing one, it'd be one of those three.

There's also most point and click adventure games. I love games with good writing, and adventure games generally excel in that area, but whenever I try to play one I always end up having to consult a walkthrough one too many times for my taste and giving up. I'm sure games like Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and Grim Fandango are all perfectly wonderful, but I'll still probably never play them because I just don't have the patience for it.
